On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

    Just ok.....

My kitty didn't care for this food and I found it has a bit of a not appealing smell to it too. Paid way too much for now having 20 cans of food my cat won't eat.

    My cats love it

    By on

The first day using it both of my cats dived right into it. One was being picky about her food and she loved it and is happy to eat at each mealtime. It’s been awhile and she still continues to love it.

Hard to decide or see difference between this and the Instinctive Adult Cat food - Thin Slices in Gravy. Both seem very good and my 3 cats like both of them.

    My cat hates this stuff

This must taste completely different than the regular version. He is hungry and just leaves it in his bowl. I have to sprinkle Fortiflora on it for him to eat it at all.

Alex just goes to town on this one! I can barely get it out of the can and her head is in it trying to lick the juices.

    My Cat's Absolute Favorite

    By on

My cat tends to be quite picky when it comes to wet food. This is the one kind that he consistently gobbles up and licks the bowl clean. I'll continue to buy this until he decides he is sick of it (if that day ever comes).

    Cats enjoyed

    By on

Unlike some healthy cat food choices, the cat's hopped up and devoured the food. They now wake me for breakfast every day. So healthy and tasty win win.
