Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Kitty’s favorite

    By on

I purchased this food opposed to regular one because my 1 year old kitty has gained a little too much weight after being on the kitten food and constantly being spoiled by me with additional treats (guilty). Now, I’m trying to undo what I’ve done by portion control and lower calories food. Kitty really likes it which is a big relief cause it is a transition for her and it’s somewhat a diet food. And I’m hoping to bring her to a healthier weight soon.

Wish UL thin slices in gravy came in 5.8 oz can

    By on

My cat loves the ultralight thin slices in gravy but it only comes in a 3 ounce can so I tried this 5.8 ounce ultralight loaf in sauce because it’s more economical (save about 30%) to buy larger cans. I appreciate that it’s light for a loaf compared to a DM brand I tried by my vet. My cat will eat it but does not have as much gusto as it does for the thin slices in gravy. She will eat 2 of the 3 ounce cans/day easily but I end up stashing some of the other larger can of the loaf because she tires of it. Royal Canin- please consider making a 5.8 ounce can of the ultralight thin slices in gravy !!!

    My tuxedo boy loves this!

    By on

We have a Bengal girl & a tuxedo boy. Our Bengal strictly eats RC Bengal dry food & I've always left out enough for her to just graze thru the day (still within the recommended guidelines for her size). However, when we rescued our boy, we tried several different RC wet foods (3oz/day) combined with allowing him to graze on the RC Bengal dry food as well (vet said this was ok), since we can't just stop letting our other cat have her normal schedule - but the boy was still overeating. The Ultra Light is our answer. He's been getting 1/4 can in the morning & evening, which is just under 3oz/day but seems to eat less dry food & still drinks plenty of water. He sees the Bengal drinking so he wants We have a Bengal girl & a tuxedo boy. Great for an older chubster

    By on

Our 13 year old tuxedo developed a bone spur in her shoulder so she needed to lose weight and begin taking a joint supplement. This food has helped her drop almost a pound and secretly delivers the supplement that helps relieve her pain. A win-win!

    Best food yet!

    By on

Our chubby 11 year-old cat was raised on dry food by his previous cat parents, and we wanted to transition him to canned food. He is very food-motivated and initially ate high-end grain-free pates. Unfortunately, they all gave him diarrhea, so the vet put him on prescription ID, which stopped the diarrhea. He seemed to be tiring of that brand, and I saw a few cans of this Royal Canin Ultra-Lite at a local chain pet store. Tried it, with good results: No more diarrhea or stinky litter box! I switched to Chewy for the better price, and because they have this food in stock, which no other stores usually do. Also, Chewy ships the food quickly! Not appreciated...

Not one of my cats would touch this after the first bite. The 5 ferals gave it a chance the first time then left it for the flies.

    Good low calorie food.

    By on

My kitty, who is 2 years old, weighs 15 lbs. and the vet said she is chunky. I put her on this food, and she likes it and gets about half the calories as her old food.

    Change for the better!

    By on

For a long time I'd been feeding my cats the same brand but thin slices in gravy instead of the light loaf in sauce. Tried this, adding some warm water to it, and the kitties love it!
