Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • He'll eat anything and he does

This food is said to satisfy the ravenous appetite of an insatiable beggar. It doesn't! My Foster is still sneaking around mooching, begging and stealing food. I am not so happy with the ingredients of RC either. I have three all on RC. Since my vet suggested an RC RX diet for one I got them each on a different specific needs RC diet, but the ingredients read as subpar. Looking for a better more wholesome food for my posse.

  • Fussy One Year Olds

    By on

Royal Canin is still the preferred choice for my two cats. They recently graduated from the wet kitten food to the young adult Ultra Light. I tried to introduce them to different brands and they refused them all. I supplement their diet with Royal Canin dry Indoor for cats (under 7 years old).

  • The best food for weight loss

    By on

I have tried several weight management/weight loss foods for my cat and this is the only one that showed any results. The vet is very pleased with Sophie's progress. Chewy's price is the best and delivery was super fast.

  • High protein, made with lots of liver, cats give it thumbs up

We (AKA 2 cats & myself) like the New Formula: Water Sufficient For Processing [gravy], Chicken By-Products, Chicken Liver, Pork Liver, Pork By-Products, Wheat Gluten, Gelatin, Powdered Cellulose, Natural Flavors, Pork Plasma, Wheat Flour, Modified Corn Starch, and then a whole list of the vitamins and minerals. So it is a lot of meat and liver to make a tiny finely sliced paté and then the ingredients necessary to make the nice thick gravy. No corn, rice, or cheap fillers. A lot of moisture 84%, but you need that for gravy, plus it's good to get some fluid into their systems, and 9% protein ( I should only eat such a healthy diet.) The wheat gluten is 6th and I use flour to make gravy so I'm We (AKA 2 cats & myself) like the New Formula: Water Sufficient For Processing [gravy], Chicken By-Products, Chicken Liver, Pork Liver, Pork By-Products, Wheat Gluten, Gelatin, Powdered Cellulose, Natural Flavors, Pork Plasma, Wheat Flour, Modified Corn Starch, and then a whole list of the vitamins and minerals. Since cats are obligate carnivores, this is pretty near perfect in my book. … more

  • Didn't satisfy their hunger

    By on

I have two siamese brothers about three years old and they usually want a little snack about every 4 hours after the main meal. After splitting a 3 oz. can in the morning of the light Royal Canin they were hungary within 2 hours, it didn't work they were hungary and let me know that. I'm trying to keep their weight in check with both wet and dry Canin products along with regular wet Intense Beauty. The cost is up their so I did expect a better outcome They did like the taste but it come up short as too meet their hunger needs.

  • Finicky Felines

    By on

Our vet recommended royal canin for our cats because of allergies to cat food bought in grocery stores and they absolutely love it! They actually know it's dinner time and are patiently waiting in the kitchen to be fed! The two of them split a can at night and we leave a of bowl of dry out for them during the day, they are both 16 years old and this food has added to their lives!

My blind tabby can be so finicky. However, she seems to enjoy this. The minute I put it down she was all over it.

  • Picky Eater LOVES This Food!!!

    By on

I have thrown out and donated some of the most expensive and best of the best canned cat food money can buy because my cat is so picky. But he LOVES this stuff! Not a drop goes to waste! He finishes a 3 oz can without taking a breath I think, then sits by his food bowl hoping for more.
