Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • Pricy but tasty

My Norwegian forest cat gained a lot of weight while we had a diabetic cat in the house. He now gets this and weight control kibble and has lost quite a bit of weight. He loves to lick the gravy out and then comes back later for the morsels. My Maine coon kitten loves it too, but he's not allowed to eat diet food. Both cats are given Royal Canin exclusively and their coats are amazing, especially the NFC.

  • My cats LOVE this stuff

I have 7 cats and two of them gained weight over the last year. My vet was worried that the heaviest cat Opie could get diabetes. Harley gained weight after being spayed, and Dora, aka "Fat Girl" has been fat her whole life, after she was spayed. I started giving all three of them this diet food, and in only a month, my little chubster Opie lost 2 pounds. One more pound to go. Harley has also slimmed down too. Dora is still chubby but that may be because I haven't policed the food dishes as much as I need to. As typical for cats, everyone wants to eat the food that isn't theirs. I'm giving seven cats three different kinds of food, so it's a musical bowl challenge every time I feed them. The only I have 7 cats and two of them gained weight over the last year. The only problem with this food is that all of my cats want to eat it, even the ones who don't need it. They gobble it up. The only thing I wish is that Royal Canin would make this in larger cans. Otherwise this stuff is awesome. … more

I loved the stuff but my cat (Lizzy) didn't like it so I went back to Tiki Cat. Also, the smell between Royal Canin ultra light and Tiki Cat I'd have to say Royal Canin odor was worse. So if you purchae either of these make sure you clean the bowl as soon as your furrbaby is finished eating. :)

  • Good for Fat Cat

My cats are quite particular, as most cats are. I have found this to be a very satisfactory food for them. All of it digests well; clean litterbox; very healthy; almost no tooth tartar; and most important to me keeps them from gaining weight.

  • The Taste Your Cat Will Love!

My cat Charlie loves this remarkable meal by Royal Canin. He was first introduced to wet cat food a few months ago after eating Royal Canin dry food for years (He is 10 years old now). He really loves this stuff, especially the gravy! Being an indoor kitty this is the best calorie watch food on the market!

  • Fussy One Year Olds

Royal Canin is still the preferred choice for my two cats. They recently graduated from the wet kitten food to the young adult Ultra Light. I tried to introduce them to different brands and they refused them all. I supplement their diet with Royal Canin dry Indoor for cats (under 7 years old).
