About Royal Canin Dermatology For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

My dog loves it. I am surprised!

My Maltese has to be the pickiest kibble eater on earth. It took 4 to 6 days for the switch. She eventually gave in and ate, she is itching much much less. We are able to try new foods or old favorites and we see what things make her flare up. It is a fragrant food. I am glad our vet prescribed it. Her itching was out of control. We still have preventative allergy shots but the food combo helps the total relief. Chewy filled our order with a prescription online with no delay.

the WORST food ever

We were prescribed this food to determine if our dog had an allergy. She acted like it was disgusting, and seemed to always be hungry - even if we gave her extra! It caused major gas - stinky flatulence and burps. We stopped the food trial because it seemed to be making her miserable. Very disappointed after spending SO much money on this!

he loves it

My dog was prescribed this food to help with his IBD. I was reluctant to try it because we had tried 2 other hydrolyzed script diets and he didn’t like either of them. I’m happy to report that he LOVES this food and his coat is super soft on it. I do think that it may be helping with his IBD, but it is hard to say at this stage because he’s on several medications so I’m unsure how much of it is the food. That said, stools are good and his reflux seems better, too. He has been on it about 3-4 weeks and his specialist said it can take up to 2 months to see the full benefit. She now believes the chicken in his previous script food was a contributing factor and causing his IBD to flare up

Great Service - Yummy Kibble

We really needed a new diet that would be easy on the stomach. The kibble was well received and our dog is now totally on the Ultimino and is not having any gastric issues. Hoping he starts to gain some weight soon. Chewy had the food to us the next day so we were able to start the transition immediately. Thank you.

Vet Prescribed Kibble

While the vet recommended Ultamino, it has not resolved our dog's allergy issues. Feels a bit "big pharma" to me (VCA, drug, and dog food corps co-owned). However. I will say, George's digestive processes seem much healthier as a result of eating hydrolyzed food, vs Purina or other brands (high end). He's only 2, so I doubt we can sustain this diet for a lifetime. I'm glad we tried it. All I can say is that it seems healthier than other brands. After reading "Big Kibble" I am NOT convinced any kibble is good for any dog.

Clumpy, dog food

I have been feeding my boy Royal Caine for over two years now. The last two bags have been clumpy nuggets. We have to bang the bag so the nuggets can separate . My boy he won’t eat the food now. He smells it and walks away so I think it’s something wrong with the food and the food is so expensive! I thought it was the new packing. It comes vacuum seal.

Kibble In Clumps

I've had my lab in Ultramino for several months and it has worked great for her food sensitivity, however one bag in my last delivery had huge clumps of kibble stuck together as others have stated. I contacted Chewy and they are sending a replacement. I have to think this is a storage issue as I've never noticed this before and only recently been purchasing at Chewy.

usually great

As others have recently noted, the recent bag of kibble has clumps. I also found a kibble that was totally flat with a dark spot in the middle. I’ve contacted Royal Canin directly with my concerns. I’ve heard that they hold and test so I’m surprised that these quality issues made it through. Our lab has been eating this for almost 2 years with no trouble.

MAIN INGREDIENT IS GMO CORN!

Though this helped my dog's hotspots, it also caused other unforeseen issues. I am shocked and dismayed that Royal Canin charges an exorbitant amount for dog food that according to Royal Canin is MADE WITH GMO CORN as the MAIN INGREDIENT. I do not want to cause my dog additional problems or a shorter lifespan because this company wishes to use cheap ingredients that are KNOWN to be harmful to both humans and animals. At this price point, it should be organic or at least verified non-GMO. This is incredibly disturbing. Not wanting to give this to my dog anymore. He's also drinking excessive amounts of water and needing to go out every 2-4 hours since being on this food. GMO's should not be allowed in food at all. Will look for a safer alternative.

Wonderful service

Best customer service around. However, get s new delivery service. On my travels around this huge condo estate to find my packages, I found two others at the wrong doors and put them where they belong. It was hot, I have heart issues, and I am old. But the outstanding people I talk to even in the middle of the night almost made up for it.
