We were discouraged because after she was diagnosed with kidney disease, our vet prescribed Hills and she stopped eating it almost immediately after she was fully transitioned. We are now giving her the Renal Support D in small amounts at a time and she loves it and licks her bowl clean. We're still reluctant to give her too much at a time because we believe the higher fat can upset her tummy, so we'll just continue to feed her smaller amounts 5-6 times per day. So far so good and it's been 2 1/2 weeks.
My golden, Bristol loves this can food but unfortunately it gave her gastro issues after being on it for over a week. I spoke with Liz yesterday telling her about this. She was so very nice and she let me know that I can return the unused cans. Bristol is now eating Royal Canine Multi-function Renal Support Hydrolyzed Protein dry dog food. Liz was extremely helpful and also stated that she will submit a request for Chewy to possibly offer this prescribed dog food. Appreciated her kindness.
Our old dog Nyxie was diagnosed with the on set of renal failure. After starting her on this diet and "flushing" her system , she's maintaining her kidney functions.
My dog has early kidney disease, and the vet recommended this food for her. At first she ate it well, but after a few cans, she lost interest in it. I have had to order 3 different flavors to try alternating them. That means $300+ for 24 cans of each flavor. I end up having around 18 cans of unopened food. I wish Royal Canin (or Chewy) offered a variety pack, or at least a few trial cans (maybe 6 of each). I am all about donating unopened cans, but this is not affordable in retirement with two dogs.
My dog did not like this at all. He is being extremely picky right now though. It's just so expensive having to buy so many & then he not eat it. I can't find an option to return or I would.
My dog had a very poor appetite due to kidney disease. No problem with her eating this food! She loves it!!!
With an ancient doggo and one long term medical with PLN Chewy has been a lifesaver for us. Local shortages the last few years were potentially life-threatening, Chewy came through with specialized foods meds toys whatever the need. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Five stars 10/10 & two thumbs up!
My nearly 16 yr old ShihTzu was recently diagnosed with Kidney failure. She had been on Science Diet but her Vet recommended Royal Canin as an option. I feed her SD in the morning and Royal Canin for dinner. It has stimulated her appetite and she is enjoying it very much. Thank you.
My 16 year old dog did not want to eat her food, she lost 16 lbs to 10 lbs and by switching to this food she is eating more although due to her age she no longer has much muscle mass but she is alert and healthy eating it with pleasure and asking for more.
Besides the fact that the price has increased a bunch in the last year or so,
