Royal Canin Urinary UC Low Purine is a veterinary-exclusive dry dog food formulated to nutritionally support your adult dog’s urinary tract and bladder health. Some dog breeds such as Dalmatians, Bulldogs, and Yorkshire Terriers are genetically prone to urate or cystine bladder stones because of difficulties breaking down purines found in dog foods or an accumulation of an amino acid called cysteine in the urine. Moderate levels of high-quality proteins, methionine, and cysteine help reduce the risk of cystine stones from forming. Low-purine proteins may help prevent urate stones. And enhanced levels of EPA and DHA linoleic acid, zinc, and biotin promote a healthy skin and shiny coat. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some dogs. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your dog on this urinary dog food for long-term urinary support.

We’ve been feeding this UC formula to our Olde English Bulldogge since he had emerg. bladder surgery for bladder stones and cysteine crystals (to save his life!) back when he was 2 y/o. He is now 8 and is doing great! We had to try the Hills version when there was a back order on RC, and he didn’t like it much. It’s scary that these two options are the only ones out there, though. Always buy a backup bag, just in case!
This UC dog food has big nuggets compared to my glycol balance and I’m noticing I have to switch my auto ship to every 2 weeks and not three because by the third week we are out of food. I’m not happy that I have to spend 85$ bucks every 2 weeks. Instead of three .
Having two bulldogs with very specific dietary needs is always a challenge. When Hills Science Diet changed their formula my dogs had a bad reaction. I am so glad to have Royal Canin to try. So far - so good.
He gobbles this food right up. Works well for crystal and stone prevention
Barney a 3 year English Bulldog had to change from his Blue Buffalo food to a Urinary diet. Royal Canin came to the rescue with a food that meets his needs and he loves it!! Chewy was more than helpful in getting the new food to me within 24 hours and recommending a few treats. Their customer service is the best I have ever had to deal with. And, thank you Royal Canin for not only being one of the few mfgs. that make a urinary food but also a very good one!!
Kai was diagnosed with "crystals" in his urine. He was having trouble with urinary frequency. He was refusing to eat his food, so he was given a prescription for Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC Dry Dog FoodRoyal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC Dry Dog Food, since starting his special food, he is excited to eat again, he is doing much better with his potty habits and seems to be doing better. I'll do further tests on his diagnosis in a few months. Chewy was very responsive (I wish my emergency vet had been more cooperative in sending the prescription in) on getting my dog his food quickly, I was able to go to the Vet's clinic after an emergency visit after the weekend, I snapped a picture of the prescription and immediately emailed it to Chewy. We had the food in the next day. Thank you Chewy!
Item arrived very quickly and the purchase was easy. I truly love the way Chewy makes it easy to get food for dogs with special dietary needs. Thank you
It seems to be working well. I also notice that my dogs do not go poop as often so it appears they are retaining the nutrients
Prompt notification and fast shipping. Another fine experience.
She won't eat it.She has always been a very picky eater so this didn't surprise me at all. Sorry folks.
