About Royal Canin Dermatology For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2021
The fat content is 3.3%.

I noticed this canned version's primary ingredient is "Soy Protein Isolate" while the dry dog food version of this Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Vegetarian Formula does not contain soy protein at all. Why is there soy protein in the canned version?
Answer by ChewyOct 02, 2021
With the differences in texture for these two products being considered in formulation, utilization of different protein sources may be needed to achieve target nutrient levels while maintaining the form in which it is delivered. The most important criteria for a protein source is that it has a good amino-acid profile and a good digestibility.

Great for allergic dogs!

Best food ever for my dog’s allergies! I have tried so many foods I can’t count until I found this. I hope it comes back soon!

Rotten Food

We have been using Royal Canin for over a year--it always looks the same. When i opened the first can from the 2 cases I just received, they were not as usual and smelled terrible. Quality control failed somewhere. Normally, our dog loves this food--and she is required to eat hydrolyzed protein because of a GI condiiton. It was third brand we tried, but the third time was a charm.--so in the usual case, I would have given this a 5 star rating.

Great for dogs with allergies!

My basset hound is allergic to many foods and environmental things. Was afraid this would be some pasty crumbly canned food but it seems very palitable and mixed with her vegetarian kibble she chows it right down.

Tainted Product

We have been ordering this product from chewy for over a year for our dog who has meat allergies and pancreatitis. We recently received this past order and all of the wet cans on the top flat were spoiled and smelt of chemicals. We initially thought it may have been an ingredient change so we gave her a few which then gave her extreme diarrhea. Per owners please check these cans prior to feeding!!

My dog likes to eat again.

I have had a lot of issues with my rescue dog since I got her. I figured out that she is allergic to a lot of dog food. She likes a lot of the food, but she will get an upset stomach the next day all day and won' t eat. I had been feeding her another brand of prescription dog food, which, she was doing well on. However, she has recently had to have all of her teeth removed. I was soaking her kibble with water so it would be a bowl of mush, so she could eat it, but she wouldn't touch it. I was told that she associates that food with having to chew it and that is probably why she wouldn't eat. I was advised to give her canned dog food and after explaining to the vet she needed something without chicken in it, I purchased another brand of canned dog food. I was sure it would upset her stomach and it did. I spoke with the vet about her stomach issues again and finally they recommended Royal Canin' vegetarian canned dog food. I was skeptical to try it, however, I was desperate. I have been feeding her this for the past 2 weeks and she hasn't had any stomach issues and she also gobbles it up.

Awesome food

This food was prescribed for my dachshund by the University of Illinois Vet school. I was skeptical about the vegetarian diet, afraid my dog would not eat it. He LOVES it!!! in fact, the other dachshunds BEG for it when they smell it!!! I have to explain to them its only for Zeke. lol
