About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Cats

Worried About Your Cat’s Digestion?

Your cat’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Cat’s GI System

  1. Mouth: where ingestion of hair and formation of hairballs can occur, due to frequent grooming.
  2. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  3. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion.
  4. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  5. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  6. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Talk to your vet about your concerns for your pet's GI tract health. Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is:

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Happiest Kitty Food Shipped Fast

On our vet’s advice, we recently switched our calico Nora from the dry to the canned version of Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Moderate Calorie formula food. After a disappointing experience with another online supplier, I turned to Chewy.com, I was happily surprised. Ordering was easy, clear, user-friendly and shipping was fast. The change in Nora’s weight and mood has been wonderful. And we are happy to find and stick with Chewy as our source.

Helped my cat

My cat has had loose stools/diarrhea since I first brought him home in September. He’s had multiple vet visits, X-rays, fecal floats, and other diagnostics. I requested a prescription food and the vet gave me scripts for this and some Hills I/D ones. I ended up trying this first bc he gave me samples from his office. 12hrs later he passed his first SOLID stool. He has tried all the higher end brands: Acana, Tiki cat, solid gold, Instinct, and I bought wellness to try too but got scared so never ended up up trying that. It made his loose stools worse and gave him explosive diarrhea! I really don’t like the ingredients. I feel it’s not the best but for whatever reason, this paired with some prescription dry fixed him up. He’s been solely on this and 1/4cup of the GI fiber response and he’s been fixed within 3 days.

they love it!

My 10 year old cat needed this and loves it, will only eat pates and has always been like this but started having diarrhea from store bought and was losing weight and vomiting more often, has helped her with all those problems. I recently rescued a special needs kitty and she gobbled it up also, she has gained needed weight and is so shiny now, both their coats are much glossier and vet was very impressed how much better she is now. I hope I can continue to afford it and have already had to make some sacrifices to continue to buy it even with a subscription price is extremely high! Chewy please bring the price down for our fur babies Sake!

Ehhhh. Better than feeding all dry food.

My tummy trouble prone tabby, doesn't love this food. He'll eat it in very small amounts. Therefore the huge supply that comes will last a year at this rate.

Everlasting Can of food!

This food was recommended by my Vet to help my cat with bowel disfunction. While the product seems to be working my cat does not seem to like it.. I get 4 meals from one can, which for my cat is unusual.. It also serves as an aid in helping her lose weight, which in her case is a blessing!

What is Happening

For months now, there has been black crud in the bottom of every can. I will not feed this crud to my cats.

Big help to my kitty with IBS

My 8 year old cat has suffered with IBS for more than 3 years. We have tried MANY things with no or little positive results. He can also be a bit fussy about his food, too. My vet suggested this food about 6 weeks ago and it's made a BIG change in his overall health! First of all, he LIKES it! I have since ordered the dry food version and he likes that as well. This is certainly not a cure for his IBS, but he is having less explosive diarrhea and vomiting, and his energy level has improved tremendously. He actually comes looking for us to play with him! His coat is getting much better as well. This food is very nutrient-dense, so although the cans are small, one can will last a day or day and a half depending on his appetite. A heaping teaspoonful is more than a meal for him. I can't say enough good things about this product.

Didn't work

My cat was having very soft semi diarrhea. This food was vet ordered and made it worse. He was having explosive diarrhea at times, horrible odor and couldn't make it to the litter box. It contains a lot of grain and it was not good for my cat.

Doesnt work!!

I had both of my cats on this particular brand both wet and dry and they continued to randomly vomit and have loose stools on and off for months. I Changed brands over to Hills Sensitive Stomach and they had no digestive problems whatsoever! No more Royal Canin in this household!
