My tiny dog has been having a hard time with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She has been so hard to feed, especially with an episode. She did better on the hydrolyzed protein diet but still required hand feeding. Now that she has graduated to the potato rabbit diet, she is again eating from a bowl on the floor like a real dog. So far, after 10 days on the diet, no episodes. The only negative is that the kibbles are too big for her mouth and she has a hard time crunching them, so I crush them and mix with water and she gobbles it down.
Two recent bags have been filled with high levels of grease/oil. I reported to Royal Canin, and I am awaiting a response, but the representative told me that it had to do with the summer heat. I provided the batch numbers, but have a friend who also is having the same problem and its from a different batch. Chewy was more responsive than Royal Canin so far. Chewy is researching and will send out a different bag with a different batch number. Anyone else has similar concerns, if so, any advice? Thanks.
I just started using chewy.com two weeks ago. Due to a skin condition of my dog I am required to purchase veterinary items. The process has been very easy and I have been very happy with the delivery of the items.
Awesome food for my dog because she is allergic to everything! This is the only food that I have found for her that actually helps her. No more itching or licking!
I have to say that we went back and forth for the longest time with our Great Dane who has SEVERE food allergies. Nothing was working! It was to the point that we were spending $1000 a month on the farmers dog food because it was the only thing that seemed to be working - and it didn't cause him hives, itching, or chronic diarrhea, BUT he was losing weight as that food is nutrient dense - and lets be real that's so costly (a mortgage payment!) fast forward to a current vet visit - I explained everything that was going on and she suggested the PR Selected Protein Royal Canine - at that point I figured "what do I have to lose at this point" we started off with a small bag just so be sure he would be ok as we slowly incorporate it in! And I WAS SO SO HAPPY to see he was actually responding well to it! NO MORE DIARRHEA (NORMAL STOOLS), no itching, no hives! HE LOVES IT! This food saved us! any Great Dane owners having issues I 10/10 RECCOMEND THIS FOOD!
Ok, I know this food is very expensive. But, my chocolate lab retriever (a very active hunting dog) had digestive problems from puppy years. I tried everything: gourmet, cheap, raw..etc, and since my dog Ellie has switched to this food, I've never had another problem!
It’s a game changer in my dog diet . She has a very sensitive stomach and I soon she was prescribed with this new diet her tummy symptoms had almost gone . I definitely will recommend this royal Canine product.
My dog was prescribed the rabbit-based food. It worked well and cleared up her Gi issues, but the price just keeps getting higher--and was already ridiculously overpriced to begin with. Sorry Royal Canin but I've switched to a non-Rx rabbit-based food that is half the price and fortunately works just as well for us.
My 12 year old dog has had intestional issues off and on since I adopted him 4 years ago. I asked my vet if he might have an allergy to chicken since that was the majority of his food. She suggested this and it has worked great! And he loves the taste (he's picky).
