About Royal Canin Dermatology For Cats

Worried About Your Cat’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your cat’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some cats.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your cat can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out.

Infection

Kittens, older cats, and cats that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your cat. These special formulations can:

Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Autoship

Keep your pet's feeding on schedule.  Set your order for Autoship to make sure you always have their veterinarian-recommended nutrition on hand.

Questions & Answers

My cat has been tested for allergies. He is a +13 on peas; +33 on soybeans and a NEG 10 on rabbit. Venison was not on test panel. Natural Balance Venison/green pea or Rabbit/green pea is his current diet. What is % of peas in your Peas/rabbit vet prescription food?
Answer by ChewyDec 26, 2017
At this time, the percent of pea's used in this recipe is proprietary information. Royal Canin formulates these recipes specifically for pets with allergies and sensitivities. We encourage pet parents to speak with the veterinarian for the best possible formula for their feline.

What state in the United States is this manufactured from? Thank you
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2018
Royal Canin is manufactured in Missouri and South Dakota.

"Rabbit meal" - what is "meal"? Does this food contain by-products?
Answer by ChewyApr 28, 2021
Rabbit meal is made up of rabbit that has been ground and cooked, reducing the fat content to create a protein-rich ingredient. This formula does not contain by-products. For a complete list of ingredients and the guaranteed analysis, click the “Nutritional Info” tab on the product page.

Does Royal Canin make a smaller bag of the feline PR that Chewy does not carry?
Answer by ChewyMay 29, 2019
Royal Canin currently manufactures this recipe in an 8.8 pound bag only.

Overpriced

I have a cat with IBS and my vet said to try this as part of a regimen to ease his pain and symptoms. How do you sleep at night charging this much for pet food??? You are making me choose between helping my pet and starving my family or watching my pet suffer. He doesn’t even like it. I love Chewy but this price is ridiculous.

Efficient

Fast an convenient. Being on a prescription diet and limited to the stores to obtain the prescribed food, chewy had it in stock and delivered promptly. For the most part with the discounts added they're cheaper than the stores.

My sweet girl loves it!

My 17 year old girl was diagnosed with Triaditis late last year so she will be on this medicated food for the rest of her life. It has been a great relief seeing that she loves this dry food. Although not an extremely picky eater, she has never been a huge fan of pate type soft food. We used to love feeding her Friskies cat soup (her favorite!). I hope someday soon they will come out with something similar in this line.

long battle with allergies..

My 11year old Kiwi has been eating Royal Canin Hydrolyzed about 3 years due to out-of-nowhere allergic reaction to everything Kiwi used to love. Even though Royal Canin hydrolyzed helped kiwi tremendously, Kiwi is not 100% free from allergic reaction. Kiwi still suffers from scratching and throwing up 3-4 times a week after eating. In desperation Ive decided to order different type of formula so I ordered PR hoping that it would clear kiwis allergies, but unfortunately it didn’t work for Kiwi. A reaction to PR was so strong Kiwi developed ear hematoma which had to be drained and prescribed steroids for 2 weeks. Going forward I must take caution when I’m introducing new type of food to Kiwi..(sigh) There’s nothing wrong with Royal Canin PR. It was just Kiwi’s system rejecting it. Kiwi was very excited to eat PR and enjoyed throughly. If anyone reading this experiencing similar issue as Kiwi I would like to hear about what you do with your cat’s allergies! Insta-myumbella Thank you Chewy for great customer service on a refund.

My cat LOVES it!

My cat is older and SO very finicky! She was throwing up and loosing a ton of weight.. the vet gave us a prescription for this food.. she loves it and feels so much better! She has gained most of her weight back, ( we only started 2 weeks ago) her fur is softer and she is so playful ( she was feeling sick before and did not play much) so very very happy with this food! Expensive but so worth it!!

Saved the day

This perscription formula was well recived by our cat Coco. It was a great change from the regular dry mix that she was used to. Over a period of time, I noticed that her #2 poops were not hard but soft and well digested. It actually decomposed instead of remaining hard as a rock and dry....I know, I know this is not the most pleasant subject to share, but all I can say is, what went down to the tummy nice and easy, came out just as nice and easy without problem. Her coat and skin condition improved quite a bit. She looks forward to eating her dry food almost as much as her wet food. She is happy...I am happy. lol.

Food came within a day of the vet approval. Mozzie loves the food, which is great, since its all he can eat for the next 2 months.

Pheonix and Yoda love Royal Cain

Our two coonies love to see the Chewy box delivered. The best part is to see them run to play in the empty box..

Lifesaver!

My cat was diagnosed with idiopathic granuloma. He develops an ulcer every 3 months on his upper lip. He was put on this dry food for this reason and will be on it for life. I had such a hard time finding this in pet stores due to shortages and am so thankful Chewy can just ship it directly to me.
