About Royal Canin Weight Management for Cats

Concerned about Your Cat’s Weight?

Maintaining a healthy weight can help support your cat’s overall health. When itcomes to your cat’s weight, your veterinarian is the expert. You should always consult with your vet to find the best solutions and management options for your pet.

Assessing Your Cat’s Weight

There are 9 body condition scores used to assess a cat’s weight. Talk to your veterinarian about which matches your cat.

  1. LOOK – Check your cat’s body shape to see whether she is very thin, an ideal weight or overweight.
  2. FEEL – Severely defined ribs and waist may mean your cat is very thin. Ribs easily felt but not seen, with an obvious weight, may mean she is an ideal weight. If you cannot her feel ribs and her waist is absent, your cat maybe obese.
  3. WEIGH – Work with your veterinarian to identify your cat’s weight and body condition score to help your vet determine your cat’s nutritional needs.

My cat weighs 13.2 lbs I feed him 1/2 cup a day satiety plus a 3 oz can wet but yet he still cries to eat and sits by his bowl. At night he bites my feet and cries until we feed him. What should I do?
Answer by ChewyOct 31, 2018
It's recommended to following the feeding instructions to maintain your cat's tartget weight.

My vet put my cat on a diet, she is a little overweight and prescribed Royal Canin Satiety Feline. Looking at the ingredients, I am questioning the chicken by product meal, wheat, wheat gluten, corn gluten etc... I thought these ingredients were not good for animals.
Answer by ChewySep 06, 2018
All of these diets are formulated to meet the AAFCO nutrient guidelines and are completely balanced diets. We encourage pet parents to consult with their veterinarian to determine an accurate diagnosis and the best formula for their pets.

cats like it

So far my two chub club cats really like this food. One of them has stopped begging for food all the time, the other never had a problem with that. Hoping to see a change in weight for the better on the next vet visit! My only complaint is the first ingredient is by products.

So far so good

Bought this for my 2 chunky boys and they love it. Even my not so chunky boy tries to eat it and prefers it over his regular food. Too soon to say if it will help with weight loss but at least they like it and they are not acting starved like they have with other weight control foods.

Awesome Cat Food

I've tried multiple cat foods, both dry and wet; as well as veterinarian prescribed and non prescription cat foods. This is the only food my cat has not thrown up. And finally, my cat is loosing the necessary weight he needs to loose. I definitely recommend folks try this food if their beloved cat needs to loose weight and/or has a sensitive stomach and throws up their food.

For my ESA

Well my 7-year-old cat who was now overweight from being inside these last two years is not liking it too much. She will eat it but she will run in the other room and try to get the other cat's food too. It's very pricey but for my precious little cat that I love so much I do anything for her so only the best. She's got a whole bag to go through herself.

Love larger package option!

Really appreciate the larger package option. It cuts down on the calls to vet as well as the shipping/packaging waste from smaller, more frequent purchases.

Excellent food

This food was prescribed by Sprite's vet for weight reduction and a limp from being overweight. Sprite was not just over weight but very flabby. Now she is getting muscular with much less flab. Thanks Chewy.

Great Service!

It is so nice to find a dependable supplier for pet food. When our vet couldn't get it and I didn't know where else to find it, I checked Chewy - and there it was. I ordered and it shipped right away. Thanks Chewy!

My fat cats love this food

I was concerned that they wouldn't like their new food as they had only eaten one brand of food their whole lives. But, they LOVE it! I don't think they even know they are on a diet. Expensive.

Great food

Using this product as recommended by vet to help our cat lose weight. Cat loves the food and she is normally very picky. Will continue to use.
