About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Cats

Worried About Your Cat’s Digestion?

Your cat’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Cat’s GI System

  1. Mouth: where ingestion of hair and formation of hairballs can occur, due to frequent grooming.
  2. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  3. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion.
  4. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  5. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  6. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Talk to your vet about your concerns for your pet's GI tract health. Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is:

Rich in nutrients and easily digestible

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

What is the calorie count per can?
Answer by ChewyFeb 25, 2019
This food contains 60 calories, per 3 ounce can.

How does this differ from the Digeat Sensitive?
Answer by ChewyJan 26, 2021
The Royal Canin Gastrointestinal recipe has a lower crude protein and crude fat content than the Royal Canin Digest Sensitive recipe and less calories per can. The Royal Canin Gastrointestinal recipe also has Chicken Liver as the main protein, while Royal Canin Digest Sensitive recipe has Chicken By-Products listed as their first ingredient. Due to this recipe being prescription only, we recommend consulting with your veterinary to see if this would fit your pet's needs.

Excellent quality

Grayboy has been put on this food for the second time in the past five years. You can count on Royal Canin as an aide to your pet's successful recovery.

change of formula

Initially, our kitty started eating this food at the beginning of April. I was extremely happy that he seemed to really love the food. We have re-ordered and the new are definitely a different texture and a different size and he will not eat. Don’t know if anyone else is having this issue, but looks like from reading the reviews in the Past there have been issues with inconsistencies. Wondered if anyone else was having this issue currently

Cat prefers the non prescription version of this food

I can't get her to eat this. She prefers the non prescription version of this food. It seems to control her IBD. I wish I could get her to eat this

Cat will only drink the juice. Will not eat the meat.

I'm disappointed that my cat will only drink the juice and not eat the meat. I am going to have to look for other options for my cat that has gastrointestinal issues.

Bold lettering on the front misleading.

Not sure what Headline is but the above review is because I ordered the wrong veterinary diet adult. If the two (regular & moderate) are not side by side it is possible to order incorrectly. The loaf texture is perfect for our cat.

Great choice for picky eaters

My cat loves this food. She turns her nose up at other dietary options, but this one has been great. She has been enjoying it for months!

Nothing left in the dish!

My cat loves this new food. He laps up every last drop; the dish is so clean I can hardly believe I put food in it.

Not for finicky cats

My cats love the dry gastrointestinal fiber response cat food so I thought they would like this wet food, but they would not eat it.

Cats won’t eat it

Unfortunately, my cats quit eating this food willingly after the second can. I know it is for their intestinal issues but the pieces are too big. Most of it ended up in the garbage.

Digestive Issues

Both my cats, 1 is about 17, and the other one is 13. Both were having digestion issues with their current food. My vet put them on Royal Canin Gastrointestinal canned food and the throwing up has stopped and the oldest one a male is having mo more pooping problems.
