My 17 year old cat/fur baby, Oliver, recently got diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. Needless to say I want to do everything possible to keep him healthy. I tried the other vet diets first (Hill’s Science Diet & Purina) with no success...both formulas made my cat sick. Royal Canin was my last hope, and luckily it delivered amazing results! The Renal Formula D was a very smooth transition with no stomach upset whatsoever. And Oliver LOVES the taste! He finishes his bowl every meal, and has regained the healthy weight he needed. And other flavors only available in larger cans? Since both our cats are used to and seem to do better with a grain-free diet, I'm also disappointed that NEITHER of the TWO brands that actually carry renal/kd foods do not offer grain-free versions. Since I don't like to feed my cats any food containing carrageenan, that limits us even more. For instance, of the 3 flavors carried by Royal Canin, 1 contains carrageenan, so I only have 2 choices. … more
