Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

At last, wet cat food that my cats eat!
By konagirl on Jan 2, 2021
My 3 kitties have always been very picky eaters. Cali is 6 y.o., and GreyGrey and Angel Boy are 5 y.o. During their lifetime I have searched for wet catfood that they would eat. Finally, I had to take Cali to the vet because she is overweight and was throwing up. Find out, she is allergic to seafood, fish, salmon, tuna, etc. Doctor recommended this cat food, and now the plate is empty within half an hour. Wow! At last, wet catfood that all three kitties like.

They hate it!
By KittyMom on Dec 9, 2020
Our chubby girl won't touch it and she rarely turns down food. She likes the satiety hard food but this is a no go. Our boy kitty (svelt/in shape) won't entertain it either. They didn't even bother to try and cover it up. Now I'm stuck with a case. Shelters don't need diet foods so no one to donate it to either. :(

Very Satisfied!
By Janie on Sep 8, 2020
My cat had been eating the prescription diet Royal Canin Calorie Control-High Fiber; a treatment for IBS. I was told it was being discontinued so I called Royal Canin to confirm. They suggested the Satiety Control in its place. I gained the script from my vet and gave it a try. My cat LOVES it. I also believe this formula works even better. Also, Chewy is great to work with and shipping is fast and efficient. Highly recommend!

Probably a great product but my chubby kitty won't touch it
By MaineCoonMama on Jul 9, 2020
I have a Maine Coon who needs to lose weight, and I ordered both the Satiety wet food and the dry food for her with her vet's recommendation. Alas, I was worried that the "loaf" texture of this canned food would put her off, and my fears were well founded, since Lucy will usually only eat sliced or minced food in gravy. She loves the Royal Canin Maine Coon and Adult Instinctive wet food, but not this one. I'd say for a kitty that likes the loaf texture, try it!

Please make this in 3 ounce
By Xxxxxxxxcccccc on Oct 30, 2020
Maisie liked this which I’m thankful for however I wish it came in the option for a 3 ounce can because the 5 ounce is just too much food.

My cats love it and it is helping them lose weight
By SLYLR on Jul 11, 2020
I am a fan of royal canin satiety - it really works. My cats are indoor cats and don’t get much exercise, this helps them feel full and lose weight gradually but significantly. One of my cats loves canned food and he sees this as a treat.

What sauce?
By Thosehungrycats on Aug 10, 2020
It is pate no doubt, where's the sauce? I will more than likely be buying the same brand of diet cat food, but only in the noblest or bit in gravy.

Great wet food!
By Willoughby on Aug 3, 2020
Willoughby loves this wet food. It keeps him satisfied longer and better than most other foods. It also helps with his chronic constipation.
