Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Great Food
By G8rFan on Feb 21, 2021
My cat loves this food! Her vet prescribed it so she could lose some weight. This food keeps her full all day until it’s time for her next prescribed portion. I was concerned that she wouldn’t like it, but she eats it right up. I’m excited for her to lose the weight! If your cat needs to lose weight, ask your vet about this food. It was very easy to get the prescription from my vet approved. Chewy took care of everything easily and quickly.

Cat food recommendation
By Patricia on Feb 14, 2021
Our vet recommended Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Satiety Support Dry Cat Food. This needed approval from the vet. I did not have a prescription to upload to Chewy's and they went ahead and contacted my vet for approval so my cat could begin her new diet. As always, excellent customer service. They always keep the pet parents aware of what's going on. Thank you.

The fat cat likes it
By Gayle on Feb 21, 2021
Our dogs WILL NOT eat the canine version, but our fat cat seems okay with the feline version of the food. Our normal weight cat won’t eat it though, so 3 of 4 animals won’t eat this. But since it seems to do the job for our overweight cat, and he’s the one who truly needs it, I’m giving this 4 stars for now.

Loves his food
By Rudy on Feb 9, 2021
Rudy needs to loose some weight, as I was feeding him the wrong food. I was feeding him food that was for 1-6years. I guess I didn't look that close at the bag. He really like the Royal Canine Satisfy Support. Royal Canine has a great support team when you call them

Chewy has Royal Canin
By Sharon on Jan 29, 2021
I normally buy this prescription cat food from my vet, but they are having stocking issues. Checked Chewy, there it was, placed my order contingent upon verifying prescription, called my vet, they took 10 seconds on line to verify, and the product arrived right away! It really is tough to beat Chewy. Smart company.

Big Boy Loves
By BlackCat on Jan 26, 2021
After getting screamed at by my veterinarian, and on her recommendation, I started feeding my 22 pound cat Satiety. He will eat it and seems to enjoy it. As for helping him lose weight, the verdict is still out since I just started feeding him this diet.

Snickers loves this dry food
By Snickers on Feb 16, 2021
This is prescribed by my vet, so I was expecting my cat to hate it. She usually had wet food, and I was expecting her to reject dry. Instead, it is a huge hit. I'm so relieved. The order arrived so promptly. Thank you!

Life Saver
By Cats on Feb 16, 2021
Our Cat, China, needs this food to help her with bladder crystals. Our Vet was out so I ordered it at Chewy. They do require a script from your Vet. Thank goodness it arrived before we were out.

Klaus is a fan
By Sarah on Jan 17, 2021
Bought this when the vet said 18 pound Klaus could stand to lose a few lbs, and Klaus loves it. He even picked out these nuggets from his old food when I blended them both to start. Only on Week 2, so TBD on whether / when the weight loss will begin!

Awesome customer service. Follow up was really fantastic. We had bad weather and it was nice to have a memo telling us the cat food would be coming a day later. Thank you.
