About Royal Canin Veterinary Diets - Dermatological Line

Can Food Help My Itchy Cat?

Can Food Help My Itchy Cat?

Scratching, biting and rubbing are signs of what is happening under your cat's coat. Skin issues in cats can be due to food sensitivities.

About Food Sensitivities

Food sensitivities are reactions to normally harmless proteins in the diet and can occur with a cat of any age. A food sensitivity is determined by a food elimination trial which is performed under the supervision of a veterinarian. Your veterinarian may choose a diet that contains hydrolyzed proteins (ones that have already been partially broken down) or novel proteins (ones that your pet is unlikely to have been exposed to).

About Food Sensitivities

Signs of Food Sensitivity

Sensitivities to the proteins in your cat's food or environmental irritants can result in a variety of clinical signs and only your veterinarian can determine if a veterinary-exclusive diet is appropriate for your pet. If a diet change is recommended, for best results, it is very important to feed only that food while strictly adhering to your veterinarian's feeding directions.

Find the Right Royal Canin Diet for Your Cat

We have a broad-range of Dermatologic formulas for pets with food sensitives and skin issues. Talk to your veterinarian about the right formula for your pet.

  • Happy Cats

Vet prescribed this formula for my kitty who has food allergies. Haven't had to take her in for shot since we started on this food. Actually feed to both cats because I refuse to feed separately and they are doing very well on it. I found out Chewy is the only online source that my veterinary works with. It was very easy to set up the prescription and the first order arrived sooner than expected. Savings is substantial. I elected their Autoship service - very convenient. Chewy's Customer Service is GREAT. I highly recommend Chewy. :)

  • GREAT FOOD FOR CAT WITH IRRITABLE BOWEL

    By on

I was prescribed this food by my vet. My cat has had IBD for over a year and I have tried several different types of food, but this is the best one so far. He loves it and it seems to be agreeing with him. I would highly recommend it if your cat needs a special diet that is easily digested.

  • Convenient and easy

    By on

Since this is a prescription can food for my cat I needed to have my Vets approval. Chewy helped with this. Also their prices beat local large box stores and having it on an auto delivery is very convenient. A huge plus, this is about the only wet cat food my cat can eat and keep down!

  • Seems to be working

    By on

I adopted an elderly cat from a nearby shelter. The cat developed obsessive licking/grooming and wore a hole in his coat. The vet and I tried a few treatments. Changing my cat's diet to this food seems to have solved the problem. After just 3 weeks he's stopped the behavior which makes us both happier. My only comment is that it's expensive and requires a prescription. Seems odd to me that a LID food requires a script.

Well, it's worth the price. My 17 year old and my 8 year old cat love this food. The 17 year old cat now has a much softer coat. I highly suggest you give it a try.

  • Royal Canin Wet Cat Food

    By on

Our Cat is having a Vomiting Problem and has lost alot of weight our Vet seems to think it is from the quality of the previous store bought cat food we were using. Our Vet gave us samples of this Royal Canin Wet Food to start our Cat on and she loves it and is feeling much better, a plus is that this cat food has no odor like many other wet cat foods have. We did go ahead an order the 24 can case because most likely she will stay on this diet, we are very happy with our purchase & appreciate the discount that Chewy offers on this expensive prescription food.
