Description

Royal Canin Urinary SO Aging 7+ is a veterinary-exclusive wet dog food developed to nutritionally support your senior dog’s urinary tract and bladder health. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It is designed with Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. It also features an exclusive blend of nutrients and antioxidants to support cognition and vitality in senior dogs, and a highly palatable texture to stimulate a decreased appetite and encourage regular eating. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some dogs. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your dog on this urinary dog food for long-term urinary support.

FAQ

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?

We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.

How do I order veterinary diets?

  1. Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
  2. At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
  3. Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.

If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.

I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?

Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.

Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.

Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?

Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.

Do authorizations expire?

Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.

What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?

Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Lucy Loves her canned food option

By Lucy on Mar 3, 2021

Because Lucy is on a very strict SO Urinary Diet dry food, and snacks, we felt badly that she doesn’t really get any true little surprises. Well, she just LOVES the canned version of her food. And they even have an elder dog option, so it’s been wonderful. We feed her a half a can of wet food, and she grazes on the dry food whenever she’s hungry. She’s a happy, happy girl.

Love it as it keeps her from getting stones

By Angel on Apr 10, 2021

My angel loves this food, she is a little finicky, but not with this food. It is gone before I can get out of the room. She licks her dish until she is sure she has gotten all of it.

    Great combo mix

By Jdaoist on Jan 24, 2021

After a few months of the dry version- my dog, Daisey Bo, lost interest. I tried mixing it with some water, nope. Mixed with some veggies and fruits- she would eat only that and very little of the dry. It was getting challenging and frustrating on our busy schedule. Our vet nurse suggested mixing with the wet version. After reading everyone else’s reviews.. Thank you guys! Bought a minimum order. We mix 1/2 cup dry and 1/4 can wet with splash of water per meal. It smells like Spam honestly lol! She gobbles it right up ;) No more fuss. We love that it supports her cognitive wellbeing and longevity too. She’s happier and seems to have more energy.

    SPOILING KADA

By DELISH on Mar 28, 2021

Kada had her teeth cleaned and some pulled, I added this to her regular dry SO dog food, that I softened-she loves it. I guess she will continue to being treated to some in her food!

    Not impressed.

By ZigsMom on Jan 5, 2021

Ive been feeding the Royal Canin urinary SO moderate calorie food to my 13 yo Jack Russell (has history of bladder stones) for a few years. He just started boycotting it so I was going to switch him back to the regular loaf form but saw this aging version and decided to try it. I do like the smaller cans, but he is not impressed with the food. I think I wasted my $ buying a case of it. I’m adding chicken to it to get him to eat it, which may be ‘undoing’ the therapeutic function of the prescription food. Who knows.

A little goes a long way

By Laurie on Jan 7, 2021

Though this is expensive my dog is used to having a little canned food with her dry. The vet said she has to eat Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary. So I bought the dry and the canned. She is a very small lab mix (27 lbs) and I can make one can last a week. She is fed twice a day. 1 cup dry and one to two tablespoons wet. I put it on top of her dry food and microwave 10 seconds. It melts and when I stir it covers all the dry pieces. She isn’t a big eater but she does eat this combo.

    Yummy in the tummy

By Food on Jan 17, 2021

I have a brother in kidney failure and a sister prone to UTI’s and bladder stones that are the biggest fan of dry food these days. This food gets them both to eat right away. With dry food they would either refuse to eat or take a super long time.

    Yummy Yummy

By VMAX on Oct 22, 2020

Our vet recommended this because our senior (Shih-Tzu)girl has the need for it. It was super easy transitioning her to this from the Royal Canin Shih-Tzu Wet Loaf in Sauce. Both foods have the same consistency and this is lower in calories which means she gets to enjoy a bit more food. She has been known to have a sensitive tummy and she had no problems tolerating converting the food change and still loves this food. We mix it in with the dry version as well which was an easy transition too. Overall it's been an easy change for her, which makes us happy!
