Whether a veterinarian has determined that your dog has food sensitivities or that he requires long-term support for his skin issues, your veterinarian recommended Royal Canin Vegetarian for a reason. This highly palatable dry food formula contains select vegetable proteins to minimize the risk of triggering a reaction. Added linoleic acid, zinc, and biotin support healthy skin and a shiny coat. A specific nutrient blend promotes healthy digestion. And this diet helps reduce the urinary excretion of purines, a component of urate bladder stones. Ask your vet about feeding your adult dog Royal Canin Vegetarian Wet Dog Food as a complement. Please note: The protein and carbohydrate sources in this product are different than its wet counterpart. If your veterinarian recommended Royal Canin Vegetarian Formula Canned Dog Food for a food elimination trial, please ask your vet before implementing mixed feeding.

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

My boxer’s officially a vegetarian
By Maegan on Jan 10, 2021
My almost 2yr old boxer has either IBD or a chicken allergy. He was vomiting randomly from 6 months to about a year old before we figured it out. We tried this food to rule out chicken and the vomiting stopped. He absolutely LOVES this food, devours it in a minute. The only issue with this food is sometimes it’s out of stock/ hard to find and I have to hope that it comes back in stock before I run out of food for him. Other than that I would recommend it to anyone that has a fur baby with a sensitive stomach!

Excellent food 10+ years
By MollysPeeps on Dec 27, 2020
Our Flatcoat Retriever is 13 years old and has been eating the Royal Canin Vegetarian Formula for 12 years (we got her when she was 9 months old.) She has been healthy and full of playful energy her whole life. Her teeth are great, her digestion works well (rarely has stinky farts and poops are regular), and her breath never stinks. She still pulls me along when we walk her everyday.

Royal Canin Vegetarian
By Torrey on Dec 30, 2020
My dog (12 1/2) has always been on the lowfat and adjusted to this wonderfully. When we couldn't get it we were forced to another brand that made her sick. So glad to have it again and grateful for Chewy for making it happen and their amazing job keeping me updated due to vet approval and such quick delivery!!!

By Brutus on Oct 11, 2020
The food is great for my dog but they need to offer this in smaller sized bags. This is way to big.

Great food that healed my dog!
By Tony on Apr 28, 2020
After trying at least 10 different foods and a prescription HA diet from another company, my dog who has multiple issues: heart disease, pancreatitis and IBD, started to have firmer stools (after 3 months of diarrhea) within 12 hours of adding the first 25% of this new food!!! This food from Royal Canin was a true Godsend! Thank you Royal Canin for this vegetarian diet! Please do not ever change the ingredients you could lower the sodium a bit though and always have it available!

Works great for allergies
By Lisa on Jan 23, 2020
I am so happy that my vet tried our dog Sammi on this food! We have tried many different foods and this one has been the best! She has been on a monthly Cadi shot which helped but is very expensive, especially for a Golden. It has been 4 months since her last shot and for Sammi, that is a record! And thank you Chewy for getting it shipped out so quickly! We had been getting it shipped from another supplier and they were out of stock. I called Chewy and they had it and shipped it right away! I will be sticking with Chewy!

My Itchy dog
By Maketheitchstop on Jan 10, 2020
The first review I read said," My dog was constantly itching and when they started on this food they have been great ever since". Well that gas been my expierience also!! After 2 1/2 years, vet bills and recommendations, I came across this on my own, we tried it and she's practically perfect now! I'm so happy for her. And she loves it! Chewy has also been of great assistance! So grateful and relieved.
