Description

Help support your kitten’s digestive health with Royal Canin’s Gastrointestinal Kitten Dry Cat Food. This kitty kibble is high fat and calorie content which allows you to feed your little one smaller portions to support his sensitive tummy. And to promote a balance of good bacteria in your kitty’s gut, this recipe contains digestible proteins, prebiotics and a blend of dietary fibers, which also help encourage optimal stool quality. This recipe also features fish oil which is a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA to help soothe the GI tract. And to make your little one’s transition into adult food easier, you can easily rehydrate this kibble with a little warm water.

Key Benefits
  • Veterinary-exclusive dry cat food for growing kittens with either long-term or short-term digestive sensitivities.
  • Digestible proteins and prebiotics support healthy digestion and optimal stool quality.
  • Made with a high energy content, which allows your kitten to eat smaller portions and still get all the nutrition he needs.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil are included to support his GI health.
  • Contains adapted levels of nutrients, including calcium and protein.

Transition Instructions

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

FAQ

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?

We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.

How do I order veterinary diets?

  1. Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
  2. At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
  3. Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.

If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.

I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?

Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.

Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.

Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?

Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.

Do authorizations expire?

Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.

What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?

Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

    good product & good service

By Kitty on Oct 12, 2021

Product seems to be helping with my kitten's diarrhea. It's not her favorite dry food, but she's eating it. I had incorrectly ordered the adult version, but a quick phone call to a cheerful customer service rep. switched it to the kitten version.

    Helpful for kitten

By Nrobison on Oct 9, 2021

This is the first food to help with our kitten’s on-going upset stomach. We paired this with the Royal Canin gastrointestinal wet food as well.

    Pricey but seems to work

By AmyL on Jul 27, 2021

Wow this stuff is expensive. I gave it 4 stars because it is more expensive than the prescription kidney food we were feeding our elderly cat before he passed. But it seems to be the one thing that has helped the two stinkiest kittens in the world not be quite so stinky. I'm really really really hoping that at some point they'll be able to eat regular high quality cat food.

    My go-to for upset tummy’s

By Skye on Feb 15, 2021

I foster kittens and medical kittens for a local human society. Almost all of my shelter exposed fosters will have GI issues of some sort and this, plus the Royal Canin Veterinary GI Kitten Canned food, is my go-to food for them when that happens. They love the flavor and it’s soothes their upset tummy’s. That makes foster mom very happy because it also helps minimize weight loss while we get them feeling better!

    Lifesaver!!!

By Renee on Nov 7, 2020

This food was a lifesaver. We have an Elf kitten that came to us with straight liquid diarrhea. Two trips to the vet and we found out that he has coronavirus but the vet said that most cats have some strain of coronavirus and it usually causes mild diarrhea. She gave him a probiotic and recommended GI food. I put him on a sensitive stomach food and it resulted in more diarrhea. I found this food on chewy and after three days he was pooping once a day with less stink and by the four days he had hard, brown lincoln logs. Give it a try if you have a kitten with a sensitive GI. It's worth the money if you already are emotionally and financially invested in your pet.

    Kitten eats is all

By harness on Dec 11, 2020

Our boys get canned in the morning and kibble the rest of the day. The kitten loves this stuff. It seems to have helped with his soft stools.

By cattreereview on Nov 27, 2020

It helps to resolve any GI issues my cats have had. They love both the wet and the dry food. It is my favorite food for kittens.
