Feeding guidelines are general recommendations only. The amount of food required by your cat may vary above or below that listed in this feeding guide. In consultation with your veterinarian it is recommended that you weight your cat 4 - 6 weeks after starting a new diet in order to adjust food intake to maintain or achieve an optimal body weight and body condition score. Consult your veterinarian for specific feeding guidelines for your cat. This diet is formulated to be complete and balanced. It is unnecessary to feed leftover foods, kitchen scraps or additional supplements. It is recommended that your cat be fed 2 - 4 equal portions of the diet per day. Ensure fresh drinking water is available at all times. Store this product in a cool, dry place.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

  • Miracle for Tilly

    By on

My cat, Tilly, has been vomiting or regurgitating (vet says there is a difference) almost every day. We tried different brands of cat food, antibiotics, and prednisone. She had no energy and stayed hidden most of the time. I honestly thought that my car was dying, and nothing seemed to work. With a prescription from my vet, I purchased Royal Canin Gastrointestinal High Energy cat food. Not only is she eating it, she has stopped throwing up and has become playful! And to my surprise she likes the dry formula much better than the wet.

  • Clear winner

    By on

We did a three-food, six-cat taste test. Plates were marked, and this Royal Canin gastro- formula, Halo, and Taste of the Wild were set down at once. Although this was intended primarily for one cat, all of them surrounded the Royal Canin plate until its contents were devoured before eating the other dry foods. They liked the others, but they loved this.

  • Great food

    By on

This food is amazing. When I rescued my siamese cat she was in bad shape, she had diarrhea for a month straight with several Vet trips and different medications. Finally what seemed to be the only thing to work was this food. She loves it and is doing great since she’s been on it.

  • Chewy made it easy!

    By on

This is obviously a prescription food. Chewy made it easy to get the RX from the vet. After trying to get my cat on some of the best dry food for him out there, none worked. He could only eat this food but the wet version. We gave in to this dry food and he loves it better than the wet version. Worth the price for him to be healthy on dry food, which Chewy has the best price, of course!

  • Expensive, but it works!

    By on

My cat has been regurgitating any dried food for years. She also gets wet food twice daily but I like to leave dry food in case she wants to snack. My vet recommended this one, and it worked like magic. Well worth the price!

  • Great company

    By on

My cat has a digestive issue & I tried him on Science Diet which didn’t work as well as Royal Canin. Chewy is a pleasure to shop with. They are helpful and efficient. I won’t shop anywhere else for pet food.

  • Exceptional quality

My vet put my cat on this food. I saw a difference almost immediately. I also noticed my cat not going back to the food bowl often. High fiber and protein not always looking for food.

  • No More Diarrhea!

    By on

My cat started having the runs randomly and after a ton of tests of course, it was recommended we change his food to something better on his tummy. This food worked fast and he now has normal bowl movements! It even smells delicious for cat food and I feed it to my other cat as well.
