Feeding guides are general recommendations only. The amount of food required by your cat may vary above or below that listed in this feeding guide. In consultation with your veterinarian it is recommended that you weigh your cat 4 - 6 weeks after starting a new diet in order to adjust food intake to maintain or achieve an optimal body weight and body condition score. Consult your veterinarian for specific feeding guidelines for your cat. This diet is formulated to be complete and balanced. It is unnecessary to feed leftover foods, kitchen scraps or additional supplements. It is recommended that your cat be fed 2 - 4 equal portions of the diet per day. Ensure fresh drinking water is available at all times. Store this product in a cool, dry place.
Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Amazing Customer service
By KGOR on Feb 16, 2021
This was the only brand of diabetic cat food that our cat would eat. Chewy was about the only place we could find it in stock. They had great service in a prompt delivery. Unfortunately the same day it was delivered our cat had a diabetic stroke and passed away. Chewy.com was amazingly understanding when we contacted them about all of the diabetic cat food both dry and wet that we had purchased. They refunded all our money and told us to donate the food. Which we did. We found a rescue organization that specialized in special needs cats and donated in memory of our beloved cat. they also sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to us in memory of our beloved Francis who passed away. Bootsie likes it!
By KatZ on Jan 27, 2021
We found out about a month ago our cat is diabetic. Switching foods could not have been easier. We have other cats and he's probably the most fussy when it comes to dry food. But no problem here. We sometimes feed him alone though because the other kitties want to steal his food. Also, we didn't have the canned food for about a week but are happy to feed Bootsie with both now. I highly recommend it as well. The dry and wet food compliment each other well.

Chewy's return policy is amazing
By Kiki on Feb 16, 2021
After doing more research on cat DM and my cat not eating this food Chewy set up a refund right away and couldn't have made it easier. Why this might not be the food for us I will continue to support Chewy with other purchases.

Delicious!
By Stephanie on Feb 25, 2021
My cat, Mittens, absolutely loves this food! I was not sure she was going to because of it being a special prescription and all. She gobbles it down each feeding.

Diabetic cat loves this!
By Linda on Feb 12, 2021
He's recently been diagnosed with diabetes so he's on a special diet. He will push my hand aside to get to the food in his bowl. He's doing well on both this and the canned food.

Fast, easy, and inexpensive!
By Delaney on Jan 19, 2021
I wish I knew sooner that I could autoship this item! It's a bit less expensive than the vet's office with autoship on chewy, and I don't have to worry about if my vet has it in stock. Shipping was incredibly quick as well!

Dry food for diabetic cat
By Kikismom on Feb 12, 2021
This is an Rx product for my diabetic cat. She likes it, but it is a bit too pricey for just a small bag of catfood.

Very yummmmmy at food.
By Dusty on Feb 5, 2021
Our cats are satisfied with this food product. They gobble it up like there's no tomorrow. Is that 50 characters long?

Worth a try
By Gemcat4 on Nov 14, 2020
I’m giving this a 3 because so many people had incredible reviews and miraculous results....my diabetic cat hadn’t experienced that turn around...this food is incredibly expensive. As the vet wants me to be consistent and not change food, I wish I’d tried a different lower cost diabetic food.
