Can a 1 year old who has always ate Royal Canin Puppy continue to eat it? She is very very small and likes it. Only food she has ever eaten.
Answer by ChewyJul 06, 2017
The Royal Canin X-Small Puppy formula is really best for a puppy that is less than 10 months in age. When dogs become adults, particularly if they are spayed or neutered, their metabolism decreases. Remaining on a food that is higher in calories and fat, such as puppy food, can make a furbaby more likely to become obese. It's encouraged to move to the X-Small Adult as this food is also highly palatable just like the puppy formula, however, it has a more appropriate nutrient profile for an adult.

What’s the difference in this and the indoor puppy food?
Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2019
The Royal Canin X-Small Puppy dry dog food is tailor-made for puppies up to 10 months old with an expected adult weight of no more than 8 pounds. While the Royal Canin Indoor Small Puppy dry dog food is tailor-made for puppies up to 10 months old with an expected adult weight of up to 22 pounds.

can a 15 lbs bag last me 4 months if stored right after opening
Answer by ChewyApr 03, 2019
We recommend using a bag of food within 2-4 weeks to maintain the nutritional value and freshness. It's generally recommended that you store kibble in the original bag and put the entire bag in an airtight container rather than put the kibble directly into a plastic bin or bag. How long it'll keep depends on temperature and humidity as well as how well you seal things up.

I have an 11 week old maltipoo female. she was 2.7lb about 2 weeks ago. I am feeding her 1/4 cup three times daily now. The instructions are very confusing, how much should I be feeding her?
Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2020
Royal Canin X-Small Puppy Dry Dog Food feeding charts read for age in months and target adult weight. All feeding amounts are listed as a total daily recommended feeding amount to be split into smaller meals throughout the day. We recommend splitting this total amount into two daily feedings minimum. For puppies that are 2.2 pounds that are 2 and 3 months old, it's recommended to feed 1/4 cup total daily split between two feedings. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.

Great for tiny puppies

If you have teacups or toy dogs this is the best food for them. The pieces are so small you don’t have to worry about them choking. I use it for my yorkie puppies when they are weaning from nursing and it’s always a great transition food for them to learn to chew without worrying about choking. The dogs love the taste of this food too. They prefer this one over any of them.

It Works for my pup

My Yorkie is 4 years old. I always get him the royal canin extra small adult. But it was sold out every where. I tried getting him other food but it was too big for him. I decided I'd get the puppy till I can get him the adult again. I love that I don't have to worry about him choking these are extremely small. He seems to like them so that is also a plus. His tummy is no longer upset like it was. So till I can get him the adult again I will stick with this and give him his vitamin along with it.

Puppy Power!

I like Royal Canin so I ordered it for my new puppy. He had been on another puppy food at the shelter and he much prefers this! It might be partially due to the tiny kibble size for this tiny dog (4 lbs.), but he definitely prefers the taste, too. In mixing it in with his old food, he roots out the Royal Canin to eat - so much for transitioning slowly from one food to another! I'm glad he's eating Royal Canin - this company does extensive testing on their foods - and it's great to know he's getting a food specific to his small breed mix.

Right Size

I had bought the small size for my 3 lbs puppy. Whenever she tried to eat it, she seemed to choke on it. I saw that it also came in x-small so I called customer service to exchange it. To my surprise, I received a total refund for my order and was told to donate the food. I didn't have to send it back. That is awesome! Now my puppy is eating her food without a problem. The x-mall was the right size for her. Thank you!

My pup is in love!

My pup always enjoys this x-small puppy food. The kibbles are very tiny, and I think that’s why she loves it! As a dog mom, I’m so happy that she’s happy. :))

Love this food

Was recommended by our breeder and our toy poodles thrive on this product. The only problem is it’s hard to find the larger bags so it’s a bit more expensive to buy smaller bags. Wish Chewy would keep more large bags in stock.
