easy to use handy to have

This is not an aggressive file making it great for smoothing and maintaining nails of all sizes large dogs to small .The angled profile makes it easy to file bottom and front of nail at same time. When used regularly is keeps the nails at the right length. If your dog, or you, are afraid of nail clippers this might be the solution. You will still need to get them use to it but no worries of cutting the quick or crushing the nail, which is extremely painful and bloody as it is the nerve and blood supply inside the nail. Still use caution you don't go too short. Learn the anatomy of the nail or have a certified groomer or Vet show you the proper length if you are unsure. not really useful

By alex on Sep 2, 2021

i guess they decided to make this file for dogs because it doesnt file very well. it takes the edge off of freshly cut nails but thats about it. does not remove any more of the nail than that.

    Dog Nail File

By Kebstar on Sep 1, 2021

Was looking for a replacement of trimming my dog nails. This is better used for dogs that have well groomed nails and needs a touch up.

    Meh - its ok

By Rusty on Jun 17, 2021

Maybe I don't know how to use this, but I was expecting something with more filing power, like an emery board. But it is just small ridges in a v-shaped metal bar. I tried it on myself to start with, and nothing happened to my nail.

    Wish I could use it

By Jbur on May 30, 2021

I clip all my Boxers nails and WISH they would let me file down the edges but so far they won’t let me touch them with this file. I have two puppies who jump on me and their nails make me bleed sometimes. Their nails need filing. I’ll keep trying! ...

    Love this file!

By Stormismom on Apr 19, 2021

Worked great! Both frenchies stayed more still than usual when I have tried to clip or dremel their nails. Love how the two green files I got from chewy got under the curly nails and took even the calloused skin underneath off without a struggle. My vet recommended these files and I was amazed at how well they worked. She said do not “back and forth” the nails, but just do them in long strokes. It almost seemed to calm both dogs.

    Hmmm....not really

By weetziebat on Jan 27, 2021

Well, I am terrified of using clippers on my dogs black nails. And he is terrified of the grinder. So thought this might at least file the sharpened edges of his nails that are tearing my arms apart. Alas, he won’t even tolerate the file. Bought new tiny clippers that are supposed to be silent, and with Vet’s permission, will give Cocoa some Benadryl, then try clippers and file. Trying to stay optimistic!

Not an effective nail file for our little dogs.

By Claudette on Jun 16, 2021

Not serrated enough to file our little dogs nails, so had to return it.

Good Nail File to Shape Rough Edges

By FrenchieRescueMom on Feb 15, 2021

I used this nail file to shape rough edges after trimming dogs nails. I really like the flat side so it can be placed against pawpad when filing without injuring the pawpad. 4 stars since handle slipped out of my hands a few times it’s hard to grip.
