Instructions

Holding the paw firmly, trip the tip of the nail with a single stroke. Be careful to stop short of the quick, the blood vessel inside the nail. If the dog's nails are very long, trim a small amount. Repeat every 7 - 10 days until nails are at desired length. Monthly trimming should be sufficient thereafter.

Be sure to accustom your dog to having its nails trimmed at an early age to make the experience an enjoyable one and increase the bond between you and you dog. It is important to your dog's well-being to keep the nails properly trimmed.

    Best Kind of Nail Trimmers

    By on Top 10 Contributor

My Veterinarian's office uses this type to clip my dogs' nails. It seems so much less traumatic for them and he is able to clip them so quickly. It doesn't twist or put much pressure on the nail, preventing cracking also. There is no safety guard on them, so you must be careful. However, I was finally able to give my poor baby (a toy poodle) a much-needed trim. He wasn't happy, but I finally got it done.

    Works pretty well

    By on

The clippers cut the nail well but it’s a little tricky getting the nail into the circle when you have a fidgety pup. The thumb nail or thicker nail on the end is the most tricky to maneuver it inside the circle without pressing against the rest of the foot. I found that nail scissors were easier to manage.

    Excellent replacement!!!

    By on

I had a similar one for 15 years ... and could not find a replacement. I purchased the other conventional trimmers but they just did not work for me. This trimmer is very sharp and contoured perfectly for large and medium dogs ... cuts clean - no splintering.

Great nail clippers nice and sharp.

    By on

These are really great. Very sharp. Had an old pair and didnt realize how dull it was until these came. Clipped right through my chihuahuas overgrown nails.

    Dog nail clipper

    By on

Have not used yet. For years used Resco trimmers and these seem as good. Like the fact that are smaller than old pair as will be used on a very small dog

    loose blade

    By on

The blade was very loose upon arrival, was off centered, kept going to the right,I tightened it before I used it, after 2 nail clippings, it was loose again. I’ll try another style other than this guillotine style. It was pretty sharp though.

    Poor quality

    By on

These are horrible nail clippers. They're cheaply made and they barely cut my dog's nails. Afterwards her nails started splitting. This is a complete junk. Do NOT buy.

    Best cutters for dogs

    By on

Threes are By far the best nail clippers to use for dog nails. They are sharp and won’t twist like other types of clippers.

    Satisfied with this Clipper

    By on

I have tried the more popular clippers sold on this site and they could not compare for durability. The toenail guide hole could be a little larger but it works for my 75 lb. dogs.
