Holding the paw firmly, trim top of nail with a single stroke. Be careful to stop short of the quick, the blood vessel inside the nail. Use safety stop to prevent trimming nails too short. If pet's nails are very long, trim a small amount. Repeat every 7-10 days until nails are at desired length. Monthly trimming should be sufficient thereafter.
I had bought a pair of these trimmers a few months ago, they were supposed to be for small to medium dogs. They were just too small for my hands and not really sized well for our corgi and aussie cattle dog, they pinch my hands every time I use them. BUT....these latest pair I bought are super, sharp easy to use.....and don't pinch my hands.
Would NOT recommend! 1. The mail “guard” is bent away from the clipper edge further away than it should be. 2. Also when you’re quickly trying to clip nails, the guard does NOT stay in place. It’s constantly flipping down. This makes it extremely hard to clip nails correctly let alone, quickly! Because of this it incorrectly cut my poor pups nail to the qwick!!!!!! So MAD!!!!!!!!!
I haven't used the clippers yet. I can't comment on the quality. I am disappointed already because the packaging says "small dogs" but was advertised for small/medium. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they work for my medium sized dog.
Nail guard screw does not stay tight and guard slips causing possible injury when trimming claws. Lady is very picky about who touches her feet. In fact, I am the only one she trusts! Not groomers, vets. I don't wish to jeopardize that trust by injuring her. Need to keep searching for trimmers. Do not recommend this item.
I have had the medium sized trimmers for over a year and they still cut like a hot knife through butter! I have never sharpened them and I cut 3 large breed dogs every other week.
Very easy to use with a comfortable grip. Love that there is protection from you clipping too much of the nail so you do not get to the quick
We have purchased these clippers before and they were great, so I was surprised to see the bad reviews. Well something has clearly changed because these are the WORST clippers we’ve ever used. You have to crank down so hard to even clip and then the nail splits. Really disappointing.
I don't usually write negative reviews but these are by far the worst clippers I have ever purchased. First they are very dull. I had to squeeze hard to get them to cut and then they made a loud noise with every cut. My dog has always been great about getting his nails done but he began to get nervous. The spring that is designed to open up the clipper after every cut only partially worked. I had to reopen them after each nail. And lastly, while using them my hand got pinched in the clippers and now I have a painful blood blister on the base of my index finger. Could not be more unhappy with this product.
I bought this to replace my old retreiver nail clippers but these were even duller than my old retreiver ones! They smoosh the nail when cutting they are so dull
Bought these trimmers for my son who has a puppy. He has not used them yet but they appear to be a quality product. I am sure they will service their purpose.
