How do you work/use this tool, and can you pull the handles apart?
Answer by ChewyJul 02, 2021
To use, gently pull the tooth side of the blade through the cat's coat. Brush in the direction of hair growth and begin at the head and work toward the tail. Be sure to thoroughly groom the chest, underbelly, and hind legs. The shedding blade can be used on all breeds of cats and regular grooming minimizes shedding, reduces hairballs and improves the appearance of your cat's coat. The handle does not pull apart on this product.

will it work on long haired cats

Our Cats Love This!

As advertised, came directly from CHEWY with all but one of the items I ordered (that item came from a 3rd party who is not as responsible as CHEWY is). I got one for each cat and they both love our using this item on them.

Wonderful on British shorthairs

I bought this for my domestic long hair cat, but it didn’t work out as I expected. I took it to my brothers house and used it on his British Shorthair kitty and it was Ah-mazing!!! It gently deshedded her like a dream. She usually hates being brush but she let me brush her for five minutes, which is 10x longer than normal. I highly recommend for fine, dense short hair cats and dogs. It’s a game changer.

It actually works!

I was skeptical but I'm glad I decided to get it. This is for superficial loose fur and not a deep coat brush. I thought it didn't work at first but once I learned how to use it, it has been great. Don't push down when you brush. I just lightly and quickly brush my cats and an unbelievable amount of fur comes off. My one cat hates the deep coat brush but she actually enjoys this one, I think because it's way more gentle.

I like it, but cats don’t

It doesn’t sharp as I expected, but works. My cats seem not like it at all….

Good but need to catch the fur

My cat loves it. He keeps nudging against it to get his face but when he moves around during the brushing, the fur would float off and not stay on the brush. If he is laying down and not moving, the fur will stay on the brush. I got plenty of fur off with this brush and I love how my cat keeps asking to be brushed with this brush

My fur babies love it!

Even better my cats love it too! They both enjoy brush time now. This shedding blade is like getting a good all over body scratch for them, which must feel great the way they respond it has to be! This blade along with brushing with their regular brush afterwards, stops a whole lot of shedding in the house and fur ball spit ups! I definitely recommend this!

Only a partial judgement….

My cat is medium-haired with a double coat so he sheds a ton. He is also allergic to his own dander so I try to maintain his coat. Because of this he recently had some of his “outer” coat trimmed. I think this brush would be useful once he grows all his hair back out, but for anything shorter than that all it did was loosen some strands.

Finally a good shedding rake for our cat! Works well, and our cat enjoys its grooming. It is not too hard, and can even be used against the grain. Removes the loose hair well.

Great for my Siamese mix

One if my cats is a Siamese mix without an undercoat. Standard brushes were just too much for a light brushing but this works really well to get the hair and dander off the top of her coat. She also likes to scratch her cheeks on it. Definitely a winner!
