Simplify litter box maintenance and keep your home smelling fresh with ScoopFree Lavender Crystal Cat Litter Tray Refills. These convenient trays are specifically designed to work with the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, and because they’re completely disposable, you never have to see, touch or smell messy waste. Each tray is pre-filled with 4.5 pounds of ScoopFree’s purple crystals cat litter that features a soothing lavender scent to help control odor better than traditional clay or clumping litter. Simply replace the disposable tray every few weeks, and your ScoopFree cat litter box is just like new.

Key Benefits
  • Quickly absorbs urine and dries solid waste for superior odor control without clay.
  • Never see, touch or smell your kitty's waste–the leakproof tray and lid are completely disposable for quick, hygienic clean-up.
  • ScoopFree’s purple crystals feature a soothing lavender scent to help control tough litter box odors.
  • Low-tracking and 99% dust-free crystals won’t stick to kitty’s paws so your home stays clean and litter-free.
  • Designed for use in the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box.

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

  • Your cat's age, health, and diet also affect her waste. You might need to replace the litter tray more often if your cat is under 6 months old, is over 10 years old, has health problems, or eats cat food high in crude fiber, ash, and byproducts.
  • Never add litter to your ScoopFree Litter Box or use another brand or type of litter. The crystal Litter in the disposable litter tray is formulated specially for ScoopFree litter boxes.
  • ScoopFree litter trays can be used by themselves as portable, disposable litter boxes when you're on the road with your cat. Manually scoop the waste under the waste trap flap or replace the tray when needed. Mix the litter daily to reduce odors.

Crystal Litter Maintenance

  • Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.
  • If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.
  • Cats with diets that are high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste, which can prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing your cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.

Transition Instructions

Most cats adapt easily to ScoopFree boxes and use it within a week. If your cat needs help adjusting, try these tips:

  • Leave your cat's old litter box next to the ScoopFree box.
  • Add a few handfuls of your cat’s old litter to the ScoopFree litter tray and add a few handfuls of the ScoopFree crystal litter in your cat's old litter box.
  • Stop cleaning the old litter box. As the old litter becomes more shallow and dirty, your cat should start using the cleaner ScoopFree box.
  • If your cat is startled by the raking noise, turn off the ScoopFree box and scoop waste manually for a few days until your cat is used to the new box.

If you have a kitten under 6 months old, we recommend leaving the box unplugged and scooping waste manually. You can start getting her used to using the litter box with these tips.

  • Kittens have a natural reflex to use the bathroom after eating, playing, or napping. Put your kitten in the litter box after these activities to help her associate the litter tray with the instinct.
  • Place the litter box away from the food and water bowl. Cats prefer not to use the bathroom near where they eat and drink.
  • Put the litter box in a quiet, visible place where she can get to it quickly. Getting all the way across the house to find the litter box could result in accidents. The location should also be safe and quiet so your kitten won't be startled or distracted.
  • Keep the box clean. Scoop waste often and change the litter tray every few weeks. Cats and kittens prefer a clean box.
  • Stir the litter crystals once a week to distribute saturated crystals. Kittens pee more often than adult cats, so the litter box will get dirty more quickly.

What are ScoopFree litter crystals made of?

The blue crystal litter is made of a silica gel. The crystals are non-toxic and perfectly safe for people and animals if eaten accidentally. Silica gel is an inert substance that’s mined from the earth. A derivative of silica gel is used in many powered drinks and soups as an anti-clumping agent. If your pet eats a couple of crystals or small bites of litter, he should be perfectly fine. Just provide your pet with water. The crystals will pass through his system. However, you should make sure your pet doesn't eat a large amount of litter. Contact your vet if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or health or if you suspect your pet has eaten more than a few bites of any type of litter at one time.If your dog often tries to eat your cat's litter, you can take extra steps to keep your dog out of the litter box.

Can I reuse the litter tray by throwing out the old litter and adding new litter?

Using the litter tray for more than 30 days per cat may result in urine leakage and tray breakage.

How big are the litter trays?

Litter trays are 22 x 14 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The usable litter bed area is 14 x 14 inches. ScoopFree Free litter trays do not include lids and can be nested, allowing them to be stored in a smaller space.

How do I change the litter tray?

When the litter is saturated or the waste trap is full, simply place the cover on the used litter tray and throw it away. Replace the used litter tray with a new one.

How can I make the trays last longer?

ScoopFree litter trays won't last forever, but each tray can give you up to 30 days of freshness without scooping. Have at least 1 litter box per cat. Many experts recommend having 1 litter box for every cat plus an additional litter box. 3 cats can use the same ScoopFree litter box, but you'll have to replace the trays more often and you might see litter box bullying.

I do recommend this although Ive only had this for about a month. my first time ordering refills just occurred and I only received one although I ordered the 3ct. I called Chewy they quickly said they would send the rest. I am still waiting for the delivery. Otherwise, I like the refill trays because I can just shut them and throw them instead of cleaning the perm trays. So far I believe my cat enjoys having her litter clean and freshly raked.

    Not the same

    By on

I started using this back in January and could literally get close to 100 on the counter. Now, can't even get to 40 and it's a mess. My cat won't even go in it. Also, it used to have a mild lavender smell when I opened it. Now, nothing. No smell at all. If this continues with my next shipment, I will go back to a regular box. Way too expensive to continue if the quality is this poor. It's a shame because the convenience and ease was great.

This is a "must have" for cat owners. I had tried other brands - didn't work. I had the ScoopFree for 3 years now.... Have to change the tray every 3-4 weeks for one cat.... Neat and hassle free.... Highly recommend it.

I have been using this litter for over 4 years. I have been meaning to post a review about the scoopfree lately. I wonder if they changed the formula at some point in the past year or 2. I never used to have to change the tray as frequently as I do now. It starts to smell much quicker these days. Im not sure the lavender makes a difference. My cats do not prefer one over the other. It is still a fantastic way to not have to scoop daily. It does get very pricey though especially now that I seem to have to change it more often.

    Last longer

    By on

We have been using the trays for awhile and used to buy the standard blue. This was the first time I bought the lavender and they are fuller and last longer, in my opinion. For multiple cats the work work better. I will definitely be buying these from now on!

    My lazy cat loves it

    By on

He's very uppity about his litter and he loves this type. He seems to play in this litter like it's a toy for some reason. He also seems to enjoy the automatic cleaning of the box as well. Always watches the scooping.

    Super Easy

Shopping at Chewy’s is so super simple. Love these litter replacement trays. For one small cat these last a couple of months and are so easy to use. Free shipping and great prices at Chewy truly makes this a win-win.

    Works for Me!

    By on

Lavender crystals control odor better than the blue. I have 2 cats (one very large) and have to change box every 5-6 days. Love the system, hope I can continue to afford the xtra cost.

    Great Scent

    By on

We have 3 cats and I have severe reactions to ammonia be and dust. This is the only litter I have found that irradicates the ammonia and does not leave dust in the air. The lavender scent is milder than the fresh scent option, so if you have sensitivities this may be the perfect solution.
