Description

Keep your feline friend’s litter box and your home smelling fresh and clean with ScoopFree Lavender Crystal Cat Litter. Shipped in two conveniently proportioned bags that are specifically designed to fill the ScoopFree Reusable Cat Litter Tray, this premium-quality litter can also be used in any standard litter pan. ScoopFree’s purple crystals cat litter features a soothing lavender scent to help control odor better than traditional clay or clumping litter. This long-lasting formula uses up to five times less litter than traditional litters, so a single bag can last up to 30 days in a one-cat household!

Key Benefits
  • Quickly absorbs urine and dries solid waste for odor control that’s five times better than clumping clay litters.
  • Long-lasting formula uses up to five times less litter than clay or clumping; one bag contains 4.5 pounds of litter and can last up to 30 days in a single-cat household.
  • ScoopFree’s purple crystals feature a soothing lavender scent to help control tough litter box odors.
  • Low-tracking and 99% dust-free crystals won’t stick to kitty’s paws so your home stays clean and litter-free.
  • Perfectly proportioned for use in the PetSafe ScoopFree Reusable Cat Litter Tray, but can also be used in any standard litter pan.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

Instructions
  • Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.
  • If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.
  • Cats with diets that are high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste, which can prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing your cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.

Transition Instructions

Most cats adapt easily to ScoopFree boxes and use it within a week. If your cat needs help adjusting, try these tips:

  • Leave your cat's old litter box next to the ScoopFree box.
  • Add a few handfuls of your cat’s old litter to the ScoopFree litter tray and add a few handfuls of the ScoopFree crystal litter in your cat's old litter box.
  • Stop cleaning the old litter box. As the old litter becomes more shallow and dirty, your cat should start using the cleaner ScoopFree box.
  • If your cat is startled by the raking noise, turn off the ScoopFree box and scoop waste manually for a few days until your cat is used to the new box.

If you have a kitten under 6 months old, we recommend leaving the box unplugged and scooping waste manually. You can start getting her used to using the litter box with these tips.

  • Kittens have a natural reflex to use the bathroom after eating, playing, or napping. Put your kitten in the litter box after these activities to help her associate the litter tray with the instinct.
  • Place the litter box away from the food and water bowl. Cats prefer not to use the bathroom near where they eat and drink.
  • Put the litter box in a quiet, visible place where she can get to it quickly. Getting all the way across the house to find the litter box could result in accidents. The location should also be safe and quiet so your kitten won't be startled or distracted.
  • Keep the box clean. Scoop waste often and change the litter tray every few weeks. Cats and kittens prefer a clean box.
  • Stir the litter crystals once a week to distribute saturated crystals. Kittens pee more often than adult cats, so the litter box will get dirty more quickly.

FAQ

What are ScoopFree litter crystals made of?

The blue crystal litter is made of a silica gel. The crystals are non-toxic and perfectly safe for people and animals if eaten accidentally. Silica gel is an inert substance that’s mined from the earth. A derivative of silica gel is used in many powered drinks and soups as an anti-clumping agent. If your pet eats a couple of crystals or small bites of litter, he should be perfectly fine. Just provide your pet with water. The crystals will pass through his system. However, you should make sure your pet doesn't eat a large amount of litter. Contact your vet if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or health or if you suspect your pet has eaten more than a few bites of any type of litter at one time. If your dog often tries to eat your cat's litter, you can take extra steps to keep your dog out of the litter box.

    Works SOOOO WELL!

    By on

With the original blue crystals, I could smell it half way through the month and would have to scoop the poop out and the crystals would get stuck to the bottoms despite me mixing it. With this one?? Omg. I’m about to finish up a month since I put it in and you only smell it when you’re crouched down next to it and it’s still soo easy to stir almost like it’s fresh. Definitely doesn’t smell like lavender though, but that’s not a big deal to me since it does trap the odors well.

    lavender litter

    By on

This litter does not have a lavender smell unfortunately. I will say that it does work better than the blue crystals at containing the smell of the box. I’m going on a month with this liter and still no smell! I had to change the blue liter out much sooner. Will be sticking with the “lavender” purple crystals from now on.

    Get a clue, people...

    By on

The purple crystals contain the odor better than the original blue IF YOU ARE USING THE PET SAFE/SCOOPFREE SELF CLEANING LITTER BOX SYSTEM! I’ve noticed a lot of the very negative reviews are from people just dumping these crystals into a regular litter box. This was not the purpose they were designed for. If used properly, they are great. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the litter can’t quite handle the volume of urine that my 17 pound Tabby cat puts out. I have the re-useable plastic tray and it tends to puddle in the bottom. The crystals still lasts about 6 days though for both him and my 8 lb. Siamese.

Works well, not as good as the original scent

    By on

Did not smell like anything, I didn't really care about it but I felt as if this did not mask the smell as well as the original blue crystals. I have two cats and it quickly did not smell as good. It would probably be better for a one cat household, or it could just be me, but I am sticking to the blue crystals!

Yes it IS worth the money

    By on

I bought the whole set 2 months ago. My 2 cats were pretty distrustful of it (after seeing the rake run) and didn't seem to care for the crystal litter. This one replaced the box in the living room area and we had a 2nd covered litter box in our bedroom under the window. They use that one more as a window shelf than a box. I started adding some clay litter to the automatic box and my older 6yo cat started using it regularly. (Thank goodness cause she had gotten the bright idea to go behind my bed! I had to clean up and block that off to stop it) Anyway I then took some of the mixed, and added it to the clay so my 3yo would get used to the crystals. Both BB and Tidbit are happy... And no urine smells! … more

    2nd best of the 3

    By on

Of all three ScoopFree litters, this is the second best. I would recommend the blue kind. It doesn’t hold the smell as well but better than the white.

    Not worth the money

    By on

I have one cat, bought this system the same time I got my kitten so it would be using it from the start. I get about 3 days worth of use before it starts to smell like urine. I scoop out the poop from the (storage) compartment every day but my whole downstairs smells like a litter box. I am very disappointed with the whole system. I spent hundreds of dollars thinking it was the best litter care and the easiest....big disappointment!! I only have 1 cat...don't waste your money!

    Scoop Free. Love This.

Love this stuff. I have four cats inside (not a cat lover, but an animal lover) so I absolutely hate cleaning the pans and hate the smell of them. My husband was constantly complaining about the stink of regular littler. So, in desperation, I started using this six months ago and my house doesn't stink when you walk in the door. No more complaints. It did not turn my cat's white paws purple at all. They are jumpy stray-dump offs that didn't mind the crunching sound after one use. It dries up the poo and the urine is easy to scoop out mixed with the crystals. It is so much better than the clumping litter that ended up caking so bad on my pans, I had to dig it out with a mini shovel and ended up Love this stuff.
