Description

Simplify litter box maintenance and keep your home smelling fresh with ScoopFree Sensitive Crystal Cat Litter Tray Refills. These convenient trays are specifically designed to work with the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, and because they’re completely disposable, you never have to see, touch or smell messy waste. Each tray is pre-filled with Sensitive Crystals cat litter that's free of perfumes and dyes, and reduces odor better than traditional clay or clumping litter. Simply replace the disposable tray every few weeks, and your ScoopFree cat litter box is just like new.

Key Benefits
  • Litter is completely free of perfumes and dyes, making it ideally suited for sensitive cats and owners.
  • Quickly absorbs urine and dries solid waste for odor control that’s five times better than clumping clay litters.
  • Never see, touch or smell the waste–leak-proof tray and lid is completely disposable for quick, hygienic clean-up.
  • Low-tracking and 99% dust-free crystals won’t stick to kitty’s paws so your home stays clean and litter-free.
  • Designed for use in the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box; uses five to ten times less litter than clay or clumping.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

  • Your cat's age, health, and diet also affect her waste. You might need to replace the litter tray more often if your cat is under 6 months old, is over 10 years old, has health problems, or eats cat food high in crude fiber, ash, and byproducts.
  • Never add litter to your ScoopFree Litter Box or use another brand or type of litter. The crystal Litter in the disposable litter tray is formulated specially for ScoopFree litter boxes.
  • ScoopFree litter trays can be used by themselves as portable, disposable litter boxes when you're on the road with your cat. Manually scoop the waste under the waste trap flap or replace the tray when needed. Mix the litter daily to reduce odors.

Crystal Cat Litter Maintenance:

  • Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.
  • If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.
  • Cats with diets that are high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste, which can prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing your cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
Transition Instructions

Most cats adapt easily to ScoopFree boxes and use it within a week. If your cat needs help adjusting, try these tips:

  • Leave your cat's old litter box next to the ScoopFree box.
  • Add a few handfuls of your cat’s old litter to the ScoopFree litter tray and add a few handfuls of the ScoopFree crystal litter in your cat's old litter box.
  • Stop cleaning the old litter box. As the old litter becomes more shallow and dirty, your cat should start using the cleaner ScoopFree box.
  • If your cat is startled by the raking noise, turn off the ScoopFree box and scoop waste manually for a few days until your cat is used to the new box.

If you have a kitten under 6 months old, we recommend leaving the box unplugged and scooping waste manually. You can start getting her used to using the litter box with these tips.

  • Kittens have a natural reflex to use the bathroom after eating, playing, or napping. Put your kitten in the litter box after these activities to help her associate the litter tray with the instinct.
  • Place the litter box away from the food and water bowl. Cats prefer not to use the bathroom near where they eat and drink.
  • Put the litter box in a quiet, visible place where she can get to it quickly. Getting all the way across the house to find the litter box could result in accidents. The location should also be safe and quiet so your kitten won't be startled or distracted.
  • Keep the box clean. Scoop waste often and change the litter tray every few weeks. Cats and kittens prefer a clean box.
  • Stir the litter crystals once a week to distribute saturated crystals. Kittens pee more often than adult cats, so the litter box will get dirty more quickly.
FAQ

How does the ScoopFree litter box work?

Introducing ScoopFree

  • Load it: Lift the box and slide in a disposable litter tray. The trays are filled with crystal litter that reduces odor 5x better than traditional litter.

  • Leave it: No scooping needed! ScoopFree automatically rakes waste into the covered trap, so you can leave it alone for weeks at a time.

  • Toss it: Every few weeks, throw away the old tray and replace it with a new one.

Has the litter formula or quality changed since ScoopFree moved to PetSafe?

The packaging may have changed, but the litter trays have exactly the same litter crystals your cat knows and loves. We're always working to improve our products based on your feedback, so we may upgrade the litter formula in the future.

What are ScoopFree litter crystals made of?

The blue crystal litter is made of a silica gel. The crystals are non-toxic and perfectly safe for people and animals if eaten accidentally. Silica gel is an inert substance that’s mined from the earth. A derivative of silica gel is used in many powered drinks and soups as an anti-clumping agent.

If your pet eats a couple of crystals or small bites of litter, he should be perfectly fine. Just provide your pet with water. The crystals will pass through his system.

However, you should make sure your pet doesn't eat a large amount of litter. Contact your vet if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or health or if you suspect your pet has eaten more than a few bites of any type of litter at one time.

If your dog often tries to eat your cat's litter, you can take extra steps to keep your dog out of the litter box.

Use a hood with the litter box.

  • Set the timer to sweep 5 minutes after your cat uses the box (for ScoopFree Ultra boxes).

  • Put the litter box somewhere your dog can’t get to it, such as in a closet or on a raised shelf.

  • Put the litter box in a room your dog can’t get in by closing the door and adding a cat door.

  • Use a pet proofing spray or barrier to keep your dog away from the litter box area.

Can I reuse the litter tray by throwing out the old litter and adding new litter?

Using the litter tray for more than 30 days per cat may result in urine leakage and tray breakage.

How big are the litter trays?

Litter trays are 22” x 14-1/2” x 2-1/2”. The usable litter bed area is 14” x 14”. ScoopFree Free litter trays do not include lids and can be nested, allowing them to be stored in a smaller space.

How do I change the litter tray?

When the litter is saturated or the waste trap is full, simply place the cover on the used litter tray and throw it away. Replace the used litter tray with a new one.

How can I make the trays last longer?

ScoopFree litter trays won't last forever, but each tray can give you up to 30 days of freshness without scooping. Here are a few tips to make each tray last even longer.

  • Have at least 1 litter box per cat. Many experts recommend having 1 litter box for every cat plus an additional litter box. 3 cats can use the same ScoopFree litter box, but you'll have to replace the trays more often and you might see litter box bullying.

Take a Break From Litter Duty

PetSafe's ScoopFree Automatic Litter Box lets you take a break from scooping—for good. This self-cleaning system rakes through the litter, pushing waste into a covered trap at one end of the tray. Odors and liquid waste are absorbed by the quick-drying crystal litter. And you can rest easy, because your days of endless scooping are over.

Take a Break From Litter Duty
Fresh and Clean Every Time

Fresh and Clean Every Time

Every time kitty needs to go, she'll step into a dry, freshly cleaned litter box—the kind cats prefer. The motorized rake sweeps new waste into the covered compartment, waiting 20 minutes after your cat uses the box so she won't be startled. Because it's automatic, the ScoopFree box stays clean for weeks at a time. One tray lasts 20-30 days before needing to be replaced, for single-cat homes.

3 Simple Steps

Load It

1. Load It

Lift the box and slide a disposable litter tray underneath. It only takes a minute!

Leave It

2. Leave It

ScoopFree automatically rakes the waste into a covered trap, so you can relax.

Toss It

3. Toss It

Replace the soiled tray every few weeks with a fresh one.

Fast-Drying Crystals for Odor Control

The blue silica crystals in each disposable tray are five times more effective at odor reduction than clay or clumping litters. Liquids are trapped by the leakproof liner, and the crystals work fast to absorb them on contact. A dry litter box is less prone to bacterial growth—and the smell that comes with it.

  • Finally, a Self-Cleaning Litter Pan that Works!

    By on

After years of using another brand of highly unsatisfactory self-cleaning litter pans that broke down constantly (we had one pan replaced five times in one year, when the warranty ran out), were noisy, and just didn't get the job done, we switched to a Scoop-Free automatic litter pan. Why did we wait so long? It's so easy to use. Pick up the old tray and put in the new one. It's that simple. The litter is dust-free and although it's virtually odorless, there's no cat pan odor. I was afraid each tray wouldn't last very long, but with three cats, we're still getting great performance from the trays. There's no leakage. They're easy to dispose of, too. Our cats love them and so do we. That said, they're still worth the money. The whole system is a great investment. … more

  • Good Buy For The Price

    By on

There seems to be more litter in each refill bag than the bag which came with the machine. My cats prefer the sensitive unscented litter and used it more readily.

  • Cat litter

It is great! My Henry has bladder issues, so I changed to the sensitive crystal cat litter tray. Once a month I put crystals on top to see if he has any ph issues.

  • Scoop Free litter

    By on

I don’t recommend this product or the litter box it goes to. My cats are afraid of it and dash out before finishing, which leaves a terrible, wet mess on my floor.

  • Replacement litter

Seems to work well. I may go back to the original blue crystals next time because they show discoloration better and also were not overly scented as I thought they would be.

  • Doesn't save packaging

    By on

The extra wrapping on this makes it difficult to open. The cardboard cover on it uses about the same amount of cardboard as the traditional packaging. The plastic bag to dispose of the tray is very thin and ripped where the edges of the tray were going in. I prefer the original packaging. But maybe this is worth the hassle if you need a dye-free option.

  • Not as good as the blue one

    By on

It's like a completely different product. The box is in an odd shape. You won't be able to conveniently cover the used litter and dispose it. My cats hate it and refuse to use.

  • Just OK

    By on

Given the price not worth it. Only got it because my dog gets into litter. On that front it works great. He cant figure it out. I find no odor control. I would never leave it for weeks. Just empied first tray after a week, So i dont get it. It hides the mess under a cardboard lip. If not for the dog , i would stick with the simple old little box and scoop every other day or so.

  • not the same as in store

    By on

I like the trays sold in stores a bit better. More sturdy construction on the box and the solid waste barrier fits the box better. Also, I noticed the smell of the box sooner on the dye free crystals than the blue or lavender one.
