2 10 - 15 2+

  • Your cat's age, health, and diet also affect her waste. You might need to replace the litter tray more often if your cat is under 6 months old, is over 10 years old, has health problems, or eats cat food high in crude fiber, ash, and byproducts.

  • Never add litter to your ScoopFree Litter Box or use another brand or type of litter. The crystal Litter in the disposable litter tray is formulated specially for ScoopFree litter boxes.

  • ScoopFree litter trays can be used by themselves as portable, disposable litter boxes when you're on the road with your cat. Manually scoop the waste under the waste trap flap or replace the tray when needed. Mix the litter daily to reduce odors.

Crystal Cat Litter Maintenance:

  • Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.

  • If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.

  • Cats with diets that are high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste, which can prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing your cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.

FAQ

How does the ScoopFree litter box work?

Introducing ScoopFree* Load itLift the box and slide in a disposable litter tray. The trays are filled with crystal litter that reduces odor 5x better than traditional litter.* Leave itNo scooping needed! ScoopFree automatically rakes waste into the covered trap, so you can leave it alone for weeks at a time.* Toss itEvery few weeks, throw away the old tray and replace it with a new one.

Has the litter formula or quality changed since ScoopFree moved to PetSafe?

The packaging may have changed, but the litter trays have exactly the same litter crystals your cat knows and loves. We're always working to improve our products based on your feedback, so we may upgrade the litter formula in the future.

What are ScoopFree litter crystals made of?

The blue crystal litter is made of a silica gel. The crystals are non-toxic and perfectly safe for people and animals if eaten accidentally. Silica gel is an inert substance that’s mined from the earth. A derivative of silica gel is used in many powered drinks and soups as an anti-clumping agent. If your pet eats a couple of crystals or small bites of litter, he should be perfectly fine. Just provide your pet with water. The crystals will pass through his system. However, you should make sure your pet doesn't eat a large amount of litter. Contact your vet if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or health or if you suspect your pet has eaten more than a few bites of any type of litter at one time.If your dog often tries to eat your cat's litter, you can take extra steps to keep your dog out of the litter box.

Use a hood with the litter box.

  • Set the timer to sweep 5 minutes after your cat uses the box (for ScoopFree Ultra boxes).* Put the litter box somewhere your dog can’t get to it, such as in a closet or on a raised shelf.* Put the litter box in a room your dog can’t get in by closing the door and adding a cat door.* Use a pet proofing spray or barrier to keep your dog away from the litter box area.

Can I reuse the litter tray by throwing out the old litter and adding new litter?

Using the litter tray for more than 30 days per cat may result in urine leakage and tray breakage.

How big are the litter trays?

Litter trays are 22” x 14-1/2” x 2-1/2”. The usable litter bed area is 14” x 14”. ScoopFree Free litter trays do not include lids and can be nested, allowing them to be stored in a smaller space.

How do I change the litter tray?

When the litter is saturated or the waste trap is full, simply place the cover on the used litter tray and throw it away. Replace the used litter tray with a new one.

How can I make the trays last longer?

ScoopFree litter trays won't last forever, but each tray can give you up to 30 days of freshness without scooping. Here are a few tips to make each tray last even longer.* Have at least 1 litter box per cat. Many experts recommend having 1 litter box for every cat plus an additional litter box. 3 cats can use the same ScoopFree litter box, but you'll have to replace the trays more often and you might see litter box bullying.* Switch to the blue premium l

Take a Break From Litter Duty

PetSafe's ScoopFree Automatic Litter Box lets you take a break from scooping—for good. This self-cleaning system rakes through the litter, pushing waste into a covered trap at one end of the tray. Odors and liquid waste are absorbed by the quick-drying crystal litter. And you can rest easy, because your days of endless scooping are over.

Take a Break From Litter Duty
Fresh and Clean Every Time

Fresh and Clean Every Time

Every time kitty needs to go, she'll step into a dry, freshly cleaned litter box—the kind cats prefer. The motorized rake sweeps new waste into the covered compartment, waiting 20 minutes after your cat uses the box so she won't be startled. Because it's automatic, the ScoopFree box stays clean for weeks at a time. One tray lasts 20-30 days before needing to be replaced, for single-cat homes.

3 Simple Steps

Load It

1. Load It

Lift the box and slide a disposable litter tray underneath. It only takes a minute!

Leave It

2. Leave It

ScoopFree automatically rakes the waste into a covered trap, so you can relax.

Toss It

3. Toss It

Replace the soiled tray every few weeks with a fresh one.

Fast-Drying Crystals for Odor Control

The blue silica crystals in each disposable tray are five times more effective at odor reduction than clay or clumping litters. Liquids are trapped by the leakproof liner, and the crystals work fast to absorb them on contact. A dry litter box is less prone to bacterial growth—and the smell that comes with it.

  • Need to change them weekly - not every 20 to 30 days

    By on

I have one cat. I tried these and initially loved how I didn't need to clean the litter anymore! On the second week, my cat pooped outside of the box which is really strange. We thought maybe she was sick or something - turns out the litter was just too dirty for her taste. As soon as we changed it for a new one, she was back to normal. They get really smelly after about 2 weeks which is a way shorter period than the 3 to 4 weeks the box suggests. Meaning way pricier than what we expected! What we're trying to make the litter last longer is to leave the litter in, but removing the poop that gets collected under the flap at the end of each week and seeing how long it lasts before the cat doesn't I have one cat. • Cleanest box we’ve tried

    By on

While this litter box is pricier than some other automatic boxes, it is by far the cleanest one we’ve ever used. It’s very easy to manage, because you only have to change boxes about once a month (for one cat). It’s also *much* quieter than the other automatic litter box we had. We’re getting my grandmother a kitten when she moves, and we plan to buy her this box to save her the trouble of cleaning up after the kitty every day. I definitely recommend this litter box!

  • Very unhappy bait & switch pricing with Chewy!

    By on

After my 1st month's initial order with Chewy as a brand new customer, they raised the price by almost 20%!! I agreed to do the auto reorder method, scheduling the same order monthly automatically - this inflated price went on for several months until I finally noticed they had jacked up the price almost immediately after my initial order and never bothered to give an explanation. I was shocked to think this is how Chewy expects to keep new customers happy. Typical pricing BAIT AND SWITCH. I called customer service and even spoke to a supervisor, and he said he wouldn't be able to honor the original price - the price I agreed to when I trusted Chewy with my credit card number. • Great product

    By on

I originally got the litter box for ease of cleaning. It is easy, but I'm cheap too and having to replace the trays weekly gets expensive. I went back to these because one of my cats would get clumps of litter in his paws and that lead to sores. This doesn't clump so no sore paws. The smell is almost non existent a few minutes after use.

  • so convenient, just have to change often

    By on

I absolutely hate scooping litter everyday. The auto litter box is amazing and the litter trays are pretty great, however, I do have to change them way more often than they say you should have to. I have 2 cats and 2 auto boxes. I have to change out both trays once a week or it starts to smell horribly.

  • Disposable trays are fantastic!

    By on

I tried a "forever tray" because I thought it would be easier and cost a little less, but the disposable trays are SO much more convenient. No mess, no fuss. Just pop the lid on and throw it away. I'll stick with these litter tray refills from now on.

  • Blue Crystal Cat Litter Trays

    By on

I was worried that my cats wouldn't like using a new kind of litter but they took to it right away. I love not having to clean the litter box every day and it stays fresh for a long time even with 2 cats.

  • Best system ever

    By on

This is by far the best litter system I've ever used. I even had that expensive one that rotates. No odor, only need to change every 2-3 weeks (for one cat). LOVE IT!

  • Helpful but...

    By on

If you have an indoor cat - this self cleaning litter box is definitely a better way to go over the basic litter box, however the litter refill absolutely needs to be changed at best once a week over the company’s claimed once every two weeks.
