Instructions
  • Lift up the ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box and slide the Reusable Litter Tray underneath. Make sure the built-in dam on the tray is lined up with the litter box waste trap.

  • Line up the magnets on the waste shield with the magnets on the ScoopFree waste trap (waste trap is purple in the picture).

  • Attach the waste shield to the waste trap so that the shield is all the way to the front of the trap. The shield should work as an extension to the waste trap, keeping waste out of sight and odors trapped inside.

  • Pour the entire bag of ScoopFree crystal litter into the tray and level it out. Change the litter and clean the tray as needed.

Crystal Litter Maintenance:

Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.

If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.

Cleaning Tips

PetSafe enzymatic cleaners can be used to easily remove any urine or waste buildup on the plastic. You can also soak the tray in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water for several hours (or overnight, if necessary) then clean with a cloth or sponge.

    Not worth it

    By Amanda11788 on Jan 13, 2021

I debated on getting this for months. Finally pulled the trigger and wish I hadn’t. The magnet flap never stayed attached. Therefore it was covered in cat poop. Talk about fun trying to clean that. Litter also clumped to the bottom which I thought may happen. This box liner took the simplicity out of a self scooping box. I went back to the disposable ones and never been happier!

Reusable cat litter tray works ok

By Carol on Dec 29, 2020

I bought this to replace the disposable cardboard trays which are great but expensive. This reusable tray works but the magnets on the trap door constantly disconnect so I have to manually replace the plastic strip frequently. Also, I don’t know why the waste receptacle is so tiny. The waste usually doesn’t quite make it in there so the receptacle fills up with litter. I clean it out every other day to keep the smell at bay. Basically, this tray works but is not as efficient as the disposable trays

    lifesaver and money saver

By JasJax on Dec 11, 2020

So glad I found this reusable tray. I found an automatic scoop free litter box second hand for cheap and was so surprised at the cost of the disposable trays for it. I did my research and found this and I am so glad I did! Yes the initial cost of the tray was kind of pricey but it honestly pays for itself. I can buy whatever brand of Crystal litter I want and just scoop out the dirty tray weekly. I’ve been able to go as long as 3 weeks between my 2 cats and they seem to be fine downgrading to one single litter box as opposed to the 5 traditional ones I had beforehand since this is always clean and fresh and ready for them to use without them being fussy about it.

not as good as the disposables

By Chels on Dec 7, 2020

i have been using this litter box, 3 of them, for over a year now. I love the litter box, the convience it brings not having to scoop. As the refills are very expensive for 5 cats, over 100 bucks a month just in litter refils, i decided to get the permanent trays and just buy the litter, instead of the disposable trays which are double the price. HOWEVER, the catch tray is SO tiny, the magnetic bar falls off all the time. The tray is also less shallow, so more clean litter goes into the "poop shoot" than youd want. I hate these, such a waste of money. I'll now have to throw these away and go back to paying double for the disposables to not waste over $500 i have invested in these litter boxes i have been using this litter box, 3 of them, for over a year now. After a few months you can't get the smell out!

By jesstex on Dec 22, 2020

I purchased this because I felt it was better for the environment, but after a while I was cleaning it so frequently that this was no longer a convenience (which was the point in me purchasing a Scoop Free litter box). After a few weeks the plastic smells like urine and you just can't get the smell out. I ended up throwing it out after 3 months because it smelled so bad, and that was after thoroughly cleaning it every time I changed the litter.

    Waste of money

By Shay on Dec 4, 2020

The concept is great...but the design is horrible. & trey is overpriced in my opinion. I bought 2 and I wish I didn't waste my money. The "poop compartment" is really small compared to the disposable boxes. It ends up get filled with litter and leaves no room for poop and making you have to clean it in a week. & cleaning it is a nasty pain in the bum with a very strong ammonia smell. The wet litter sticks to the bottom of the trey and you have to use your hand (wear gloves) for this. They should make the poop compartment larger and make some kind of liner for the trey. The magnets on the lid...are awful and do not hold up.

    Not helpful

By Meliss on Dec 28, 2020

The litter gets full of urine within 3 days. If you buy the 50.00 reusable box it doesn't have a barrier from the waste and it gets all over the purple top. So just be careful

    Excellent addition

By MandaC on Nov 17, 2020

Basically paid for itself, since buying the crystal litter is so much cheaper than buying the disposable trays. This way we can clean, add, and replace the crystals more frequently for our stinky boy!

    Needs redesign

By TomC on Nov 17, 2020

Works great after I cut out that ridge making the poop compartment. All the clean crystals were being bulldozed into it and filling it up leaving no room for waste.. So the box resembles the disposable type now. I got barely a week out of it, after modifications it goes a good three weeks with one cat. She poops alot.
