    This SAVED my life!

By Comdoc on Oct 7, 2018

I have two cats, and got tired of carrying heavy garbage bags of clumped urine and feces all the time...plus...the smell. And carrying 40-lb. bags of litter was not easy for this older gal. This product is incredible...no more scooping, no more smells! And carrying 40-lb. bags of litter was not easy for this older gal. This product is incredible...no more scooping, no more smells! You put the lid underneath the tray (for when you dispose), pour the “litter” and you’re done. The sole issue I had was with my 1 1/2 year old Maine Coon who was scared of crawling in (although he’s always used a hooded box). Plus, having the tray in the front is awkward for stepping in (dear Scoop Free...put the poo catcher box in the back, and the “rake” up front). He started to urinate in his water bowl, so I took the hood off, and sat him in the “potty” 3 times a day, and voila...a few treats and praise, and no more urinating outside the box. Now he runs to watch the rake when he hears the motor. Two cats make it necessary for me to change it about every 11 days - if you have one cat, you’ll be able to go much longer, but the extra cost is worth it to my back and sanity! … more

    Cats didn't like it

By Jordi on Jul 26, 2018

Before I launch into all the pros and cons of this product, let me say that I was very excited about giving this litter box a try. I really hoped that this would be a winner with our fussy felines. The product has some very nice features, including that the timer can be set from 5 to 20 minutes, the rake is quite dependable and rarely gets stuck, and the hood keeps the litter from flying out. But unfortunately, this was not a winner with our cats. Here's some issues we experienced while using this product: The litter doesn't work-all the rake really does is run right through it, stringing it all throughout the box and turning the tray into a stinky, sloshy mess, the box REALLY stinks, even after it's been cleaned, and the replacement trays are VERY expensive, and they don't last very long. Because of all the issues mentioned above, our cats refused to use it. Overall, if you only have one cat, change the litter quite frequently, and your cat doesn't mind stinky smells, give it a try. Otherwise, forget it. It's a waste of money. … more

  • I was hoping... but this is a bust

Luckily I have a cat that easily transitions from litter box to litter box when I try something new every few years. She does not like this one however. She is a very young 15 year old cat and about 12 lbs. She urinates at the edge of this 2 out of 5 times and it drips down the outside onto my floor. It's like she's too big for it. It scoops the poop fine, but the urine just stays where it's laid. I use a spoon to scoop it into the retainer, and then mix up the remaining crystals as they suggest. I have not been able to make it more than 2 weeks. I just threw away the other after 1 week, so I highly disagree with their tray-changing timeline. • Not what I paid for...

I love the idea of this contraption, but I'm so sad it's not living up to what I expected. I assumed I'd for sure get 7 days having two Sphynx cats out of one reusable box...first of all it smells AWFUL, there is NO scent block to this crystal litter and the small compartment to 'hold' the waste is no way able to hold even 7 days worth for two cats let alone...15 days as some say! I feel my cats Royal Canin and take good care of them, they are very healthy, so I'm not sure how some people are giving this such great ratings!

  • It was okay.

This litter box leaves the clumps of waste at the end of the box instead of the waste going into the waste chamber. My cat started using it immediately. This litter box is easy to clean but it just wasn't what I was looking for. Chewy did allow me to return the litter box and I got my money back.

  • Great concept...But

    By on

The liter box overall is a great concept. However anyone with cats knows they are creatures of habit. This box is relatively small and difficult for any other size cat then small to get in and out of without a huge mess. The cover makes it almost scary for my 2 cats to hop in and out of. Pretty much a fail for our needs.

  • limited use

I was very excited to get this "machine"- it works as described but my cat uses it TOO much (I guess) and one tray only lasts 3 or 4 DAYS ! Smelly ? yes even though the waste is moved into the receptical . I am in my late 70's and needed something that would help me with the cat box. Also I need help to change the new tray. Not sure that I will be able to continue to use it. Service people with Chewy have been very nice and I called the phone # on the Scoop Free info and that person was very nice and evensent a lavender type of litter.VERY good service but I'm still not sure I will be able to continue use.

  • Disappointed

Not what I expected for the price. It literally just moves the poop under a piece of box

  • Good Idea

    By on

While this system sounded like a good idea at the time, in reality I'm having to change the litter in less than a week. One of our two cats has a very strong urine smell and after a day or two, when I sit nearby I can smell it in the litter. I think it will end up costing too much with less than favorable results.

  • Depends On You - Finicky About Dealing with Litter; Then Yes

    By on

I have always used clumping litter previously but wanted something cleaner as I was moving the litter box into the house from the garage due to male cat litter issues. Yes, the crystals are definitely cleaner. My male cat did well and liked the crystals. However, the unit is quite large, needs an electric outlet near by, is noisy and the electrical plug that comes with it hums. I found it easier just to get a cheap $5 plastic box and stick with the crystals in order to clean it out daily. This unit just pushes it under a little hatch which you cannot get to easily. Of course the price of the replacement trays are extremely pricey and with two adult cats you really can't go more than 5 to 7 days I have always used clumping litter previously but wanted something cleaner as I was moving the litter box into the house from the garage due to male cat litter issues.
