    This SAVED my life!

By Comdoc on Oct 7, 2018

I have two cats, and got tired of carrying heavy garbage bags of clumped urine and feces all the time...plus...the smell. And carrying 40-lb. bags of litter was not easy for this older gal. This product is incredible...no more scooping, no more smells! And carrying 40-lb. bags of litter was not easy for this older gal. This product is incredible...no more scooping, no more smells! You put the lid underneath the tray (for when you dispose), pour the “litter” and you’re done. The sole issue I had was with my 1 1/2 year old Maine Coon who was scared of crawling in (although he’s always used a hooded box). Plus, having the tray in the front is awkward for stepping in (dear Scoop Free...put the poo catcher box in the back, and the “rake” up front). He started to urinate in his water bowl, so I took the hood off, and sat him in the “potty” 3 times a day, and voila...a few treats and praise, and no more urinating outside the box. Now he runs to watch the rake when he hears the motor. Two cats make it necessary for me to change it about every 11 days - if you have one cat, you’ll be able to go much longer, but the extra cost is worth it to my back and sanity! … more

    Cats didn't like it

I really hoped that this would be a winner with our fussy felines. The product has some very nice features, including that the timer can be set from 5 to 20 minutes, the rake is quite dependable and rarely gets stuck, and the hood keeps the litter from flying out. But unfortunately, this was not a winner with our cats. Here's some issues we experienced while using this product: The litter doesn't work-all the rake really does is run right through it, stringing it all throughout the box and turning the tray into a stinky, sloshy mess, the box REALLY stinks, even after it's been cleaned, and the replacement trays are VERY expensive, and they don't last very long. Because of all the issues mentioned above, our cats refused to use it. Overall, if you only have one cat, change the litter quite frequently, and your cat doesn't mind stinky smells, give it a try. Otherwise, forget it. It's a waste of money. … more

  • Works for me!!!

I read several reviews that said you could not use with a kitten but my almost 5 month old has been using now for several weeks. In fact, after surgery a couple of weeks ago the vet requested that we use a special paper litter for a week or so until he was healed up. So, I bought a large bag, because that was the only size available, and placed it in the standard litter box and blocked off the scoop free box. The next morning he was sitting in front of the scoop free box meowing for me to remove the towel so he could go in use the litter box. We just changed the litter tray for the first time last week. LOL BTW, it should be logical but I didn't see it in print, so when we put the lid on used tray, we then placed it in a trash bag. Do not just drop the tray in the dumpster or trash can. I bet someone has. Now, I do have an issue with the tracking of the pellets because when you step on them, they crunch and turn into smaller particles on the floor. This is now the only litter box he is using and it has been placed under a table with a small rug in front of it, which I am hoping will minimize the tracking. Other than that, I love it. My husband thought the replacement pellets were a bit expensive. I reminded him of our arrangement regarding the litter box when we got Elvis and suggested if we wanted to pick the litter then he could to take care of the litter box completely. He decided that I had found a good price on Chewy. … more

  • Good Quality Box, Litter Not My Favorite

    By on

I got this for my elderly cat who was struggling to keep herself clean while using the litter box. The box is awesome, the litter is not my favorite. My kitty has a habit of peeing in the exact same spot, which does become a problem with any type of litter unless you stir it up once a day. This litter (the large crystal) in particular does not absorb as well as others I have used in the past. That said, I was able to put in a different type of crystal litter with finer crystals that I have found to work and the litter box self-scoops just fine.

  • To expensive

    By on

Listen it's a great concept and I bought one to try so far trying to get my cats to switch over and not successful. They only pee in it and I'm trying it without the hood to see if that helps them want to poop in it. We all hate scooping and this seems to eliminate that if my cats would poop in it lol

  • Convenient

    By on

I hate scooping and scraping the clay litter. This is great. We have had our box for over a month. The trays do NOT last a month. We have one cat who is a regular size. This fits him great. The litter trays last 2 to 3 weeks and he uses it 7 to 10 times a day. When the weather is warmer, it smells more. I can keep this in the back room and change out the trays about every 2 weeks no problem. I considered scooping a little and adding more silica but with the urine i just dont think its an option. I still love this because it is much easier to clean than the regular box with litter and you can buy a 3 tray pack to save a little Money $

  • Good product; adjust expectations.

The litter box is great; it functions just as it describes. The rake is smooth and quiet, works very well. If you leave it on the 20 minute setting, then the crystals have time to dehydrate the poop before the rake goes through it, so the rake stays mostly clean. I don't think that they should make any promises about the length of time the tray will stay fresh, because it just depends on the cat. For our family (1 cat 1 box), the crystals DO stay fresh as far as urine goes, for 3 to 4 weeks. But, he eats a lot, and therefore poops a lot, so for him, the trap area fills up to overflow with feces within a week and a half. So, bottom line is that I bought this with the idea that I could plug it in and forget about it for 3 or 4 weeks. But, I am still happy with it, because instead of scooping every day, this does that for me. I am only responsible for scooping out the excess about once per week. So really it is just an expectation adjustment. So for me, and for the cat, it was still a life improvement. As for those who mention the smell, yes. It smells when the trap is full. So, just go into in understanding that you will have to empty that thing from time to time, but it is a heck of a lot better than daily scooping! … more

  • Worth Every Penny

The Good Points: #1 YOU NEVER HAVE TO CLEAN ANOTHER LITTER BOX AGAIN! #2 It takes a whoppin five minutes to change trays. And most of that five minutes is spent taking old tray out to trash. #3 No litter box smell! (well, you do get an (urine) ammonia smell around the two week mark) #4 Seriously, just buy this. You'll thank me later. The Bad Points: #1 Really should be a tad bit bigger. The should extend it another 5" to give your cat a little more room. #2 My cat wasn't going anywhere near it with the dome on it. In fact, she used my bathroom mat instead of her litter box with the dome on. Take the dome off, and buy a broom to sweep up the crystals.

  • Scoop free litter box doesn't control odour very well.

    By on

I'm glad I don't have to clean a litter box any more but the self cleaning box doesn't control the odour very well. I have two cat's and I have to change the box every week to keep the smell under control. Even though the boxes with the blue crystals are pricey, I think it's worth paying for because that is one less thing I have to do every day.

  • So far so good!

    By on

I have 3 cats, they were quick to change litter boxes which im glad about the only down thing i would say is that the poop tends to stick to the rake which makes the smell linger on. I ordered the lavander crystals so hopefully that helps!

  • Good fit. Absorbs odor

    By on

This is the first automated litter box I have owned and so far everything has been great. It fits my large cats well, but they are still too afraid of it to use with the dome on. Poops are initially stinky, but those crystals absorb odor soo well. The only downside is the price of litter refills.
