    Good choice

By virginia on Jul 17, 2020

I had to switch to an organic whole grain food for the girls, their eggs smelled awful while cooking and tasted just like the other feed I was giving them. Now the eggs smells and taste like they should, eggs! It is worth the higher price and to know I'm giving them organic nonGMO means I am too eating I had to switch to an organic whole grain food for the girls, their eggs smelled awful while cooking and tasted just like the other feed I was giving them. This feed is sub par

By Tina on Mar 2, 2020

I have been purchasing this feed for about a year or so and the last couple of times the bag is mostly dust and full of sticks. I don't know if the feed is old or not stored properly, but the quality has gone down hill. My hens won't eat it now. For the price I expect better. Excellent Product

    By on

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product! We feed both our chickens and ducks with it. They love it. You know it’s a whole food because you can feed this product to chickens, ducks, pigs, goats, etc. while meeting each animals individual needs. My only caution is that if it gets wet/moist it starts to decay and quickly.

    Added to my pellets

    By on

I bought this to add to my organic pellets. It gives them a variety. The chickens and ducks love it! I am also pleased that it is made right here in America and with real food. It smells like we could eat it.

    expensive but good

    By on

it’s really good quality feed, imo. My hens love it and I notice it runs out more slow than the pellets due to them needing to eat less for same nutrition/fullness. I love the fact that I can ferment it, too, as a treat. They really love this feed and don’t “pick” through it very much at all like they do with other non-pellet feeds. I also feel like it’s a more natural way for them to eat, then with pellets. It’s spendy, though, and a high-quality pellet would probably be just as good as far as bird health and egg quality, but I will keep using this because I like it so much, even though it’s expensive.

I am very much into living an organic lifestyle including my animals. I’ve been using this feed for years. Top quality, nutritionally balanced for chickens and ducks. I highly recommend this Company whatever your feed needs are.

    Chickens' Favorite Food

    By on

This food is a favorite among our birds. We've tried some Layena pellets and other organic types and have come back to this brand. The quality is great. It's organic and soy free. The birds think it's gourmet and come running when the grain scoop is shaken. And the convenience of having it show up at my doorstep is incredibly helpful.

    Whole grains and nutrition

    By on

I have been using this feed for years. I ran out once and bought something else produced locally, but my girls will not eat anything with pellets. It just lies on the ground for the rats, which is gross! I soak some of it and give them that semi-fermented feed in a plate, but have this dry in a hopper feeder. They love it and so does my peahen. I have some hens that are about 8 years old and still laying!!

    Keeps hens healthy!

    By on

After trying a few other brands over the last couple of years, I still believe this feed keeps my hens the healthiest and laying lots of eggs with strong shells. In order to get the benefit of all the good things Scratch and Peck Feeds adds to this feed, I soak (ferment) my feed overnight in a glass jar (it's super easy). I just dump the fermented feed into an old pan in the morning and put it in the run. All of that 'dust' in the feed that people complain about is actually good for your chickens! Not to mention, wasting it by letting them eat around it or throwing it away makes it more expensive to feed them. Scratch and Peck Feeds is the best!
