Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance: It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by:* You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc.* Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals.* Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your back yard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs.* Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your back yard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through.* Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

What are the benefits of Seresto?

How does Seresto work?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:*

Imidacloprid

has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.*

Flumethrin

effectively repels and kills ticks.Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.*Sustained release technology*Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar. The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.*If your cat is not used to collars*Rarely, mild application site reactions may occur such as scratching, redness and hair loss, which usually recover within 1 to 2 weeks without the need for collar removal. In some cases, temporary collar removal and bathing may be recommended until symptoms have disappeared. In very rare cases, application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur. In these instances, collar removal is recommended. If signs persist or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for cats?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

How do I store and dispose of Seresto?

Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal.* Storage: Store in original unopened container in a cool, dry place that is inaccessible to children.* Disposal: Dispose of container, pouch and expired collar in trash.

  • The Best!! I won't go back to drops!

    By on

For many years we used the expensive drops on the neck with no problem. After a few years it stopped working, so we went with another brand. And again it stopped working after a few years. I was desperate, because we were infested with fleas after a very mild winter, with no hard freezes to kill off the fleas. My cats are indoor only, but my son's new cat brought in the fleas. My vet said he'd heard good things about Seresto, so we tried it. Amazing! It worked very fast & after we also sprayed our carpet, the fleas are Gone & have remained gone the entire year. Now it's time to order new collars & I won't hesitate to use them again! • Finally flea-free!

    By on

Holy cow. After battling fleas for almost a year while regularly treating all of my kitties and my dog with Frontline or Advantage, I found this flea collar on Chewy. My cats had never worn collars before, but they adapted very quickly to wearing this. Within a day, fleas were slowing down and dying. It's been about two weeks, and I'm not seeing any fleas on any of my pets for the first time in almost a year! I highly recommend the Seresto flea collars for both cats and dogs. And Chewy is amazing! I've always received my items the very next day, and their prices and customer service are great!

  • Best Collar for your buck!

    By on

I've been using Seresto for three years on my indoor cat and it works great! I've tried several other brands and my cat either lost her hair around her neck from the chemicals or they just didn't work. It doesn't have any odor which is good because she sleeps right at my head. Started working after a couple days and actually lasts the whole 8 months!

  • outstanding flea protection

One of my indoor/ outdoor cats had a bad reaction to liquid flea control. The other loves to be under our deck and lounge on the cool sand. Of course, in no time we were infested with fleas. I decided to try the ole fashion type flea collar we used on our cats when I was a kid. Seresto did the trick. Both cats had Excellent results with their new flea collars. Thank you Seresto for providing an awesome product. Thanks Chewy for offering it at a very reasonable price. This is my third replacement purchase. PS. they work for more than 8 months for me!

  • A must for my FIV cat

    By on

Last summer my FIV cat had a severe reaction to fleas. The topical medication I had at the time didn't work, and since he obviously needs 24/7 flea protection year round, I ordered this collar with the hopes it would keep him flea free for 8 months as promised. Just ordered a second collar (time to replace). Collar works wonderful. He has had no issues with fleas, even after he sometimes manages to sneak outside. I will gladly pay the price for the collar seeing how its a lot cheaper than vet bills!! Will definitely continue to purchase.

  • Finally, flea free!!!

For four months I fought a flea infestation with home spray treatments, vacuuming, combing, and pet spray treatments. If I slacked off of the rigorous efforts at any time, I lost ground in the battle. Because the cats are mutual groomers, I didn't want to use topical spot treatments, but having already spent over $100.00 on the spray treatments with little headway, I needed to try a new strategy. I read up on the Seresto collars, and decided to give them a try since my cats have worn different flea collars before. In 24 hours I noticed a major difference in decreased scratching and in spottings of adult fleas! By the end of the first week the cats' skin irritations had cleared, and no more fleas were seen in the house! The full usage instructions for the collars state that Seresto kills fleas in areas where the pet lays as well as on the pet, and this proved true. Paying just over $50.00 for one collar (I have two cats) may seem crazy, but they are supposed to be effective for 8 months. Compare that to topical spot treatments which cost $50.00 for a 3-month supply or to the $175.00 plus intensive efforts I had spent on spray treatments over 4 months, and the Seresto collars prove to be most cost-effective. Also significant is the fact that I also have 2 dogs, and by using the Seresto collars on the cats, there have been no more fleas migrating to the dogs. We are flea free!!! I only wish I had tried this product sooner. … more

When we first moved to the farm we would find over 30 ticks on my dog and a lot on my cats DAILY! Once we got these collars we found maybe 2 or 3 during the summer on them but they were all dead. The money spent is so worth it and we will never go back to anything else besides these

  • Only collar of any kind my cat has left on, and works great for flea control

    By on

My 16 year old cat is very allergic to fleas and she has hated collars since she was a kitten. I decided to give this a try rather than the monthly solution you have to put between shoulder blades. I told her what the collar was for and it must have started killing fleas right away because she has not made any efforts to get it off, and is a very happy cat not having to deal with fleas

  • We are flea free!

    By on

Delivered Dec 28, put on cats that day. They have never had a collar so it was a bit of an adjustment for both of them. I have combed them each day since put on. The collar worked almost immediately. A couple if days and there was no more scratcing. No issues with collar irritating the neck area. I had used Advantage II and multi with no luck at all. This collar was the answer to relief for Scarlett 8 yrs and Whisper 7 mos. Both indoor cats. Both feral rescues from the outside as kittens about 4 wks old. I believe Whisper brought the fleas with her. Both fine now and I am so happy with this product. Highly recommended to any pet family.

  • It's a 50-50 draw

We live in the Pacific NW, which has year-round flea-infestation. Our elder kitty is doing well with this collar, used in conjunction w/topical Advantage; however our Calico has skin allergies and the hefty collar irritated her skin, causing more grief than relief. This product also commands a steep price, so will continue to evaluate it's value.
