Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance: It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.

Fleas may be brought to the house by:

  • You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc.
  • Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals.
  • Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your back yard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs.
  • Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your back yard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through.
  • Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats.
  • Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

What are the benefits of Seresto?

With its innovative delivery system, Seresto offers a breakthrough in flea and tick protection for dogs or cats for eight months.

Features and benefits:

  • For dogs or cats
  • Kills fleas
  • Repels and kills ticks. If a tick is repelled, it cannot attach and transmit disease-causing organisms
  • Non-greasy, odorless, easy-to-use

How does Seresto work?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:

  • Imidacloprid has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.
  • Flumethrin effectively repels and kills ticks.

Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients.

The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.

Sustained release technology

Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.

Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.

A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar.

The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.

If your cat is not used to collars

Rarely, mild application site reactions may occur such as scratching, redness and hair loss, which usually recover within 1 to 2 weeks without the need for collar removal. In some cases, temporary collar removal and bathing may be recommended until symptoms have disappeared. In very rare cases, application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur. In these instances, collar removal is recommended. If signs persist or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for cats?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

How do I store and dispose of Seresto?

Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal.

  • Storage: Store in original unopened container in a cool, dry place that is inaccessible to children.
  • Disposal: Dispose of container, pouch and expired collar in trash.

  • Seresto cat Collars stop working at 2.5 months

    By on

I bought this product on recommendation from a friend for my 2 cats (my friend has a dog and she raved about the product). As I was sick of buying spot treatment monthly for my cats. At first the product worked great. Unfortunately after 2.5 months the property clearly is not working as both my cats within 3 days of each other started to itch and and clearly have fleas again. I have done some reading and other people also have had this occur after a few months as well. If they made the collars less expensive I would use them for 2 months and then replace. However at the price that is just not feasible. I will start the spot treatment monthly again :(

  • did not work

Interesting how this collar is highly effective for many and not effective at all for others. Unfortunately it did not work at all for my cats and it caused skin irritation around their necks. Thankfully Chewy stands behind its products and refunded my money. My vet recommended Cheristin since fleas have become resistant to other topicals such as Advantage and Frontline. So far Cheristin is working better than this Seresto collar and Chewy prices were much less than what my vet charges. Fingers crossed that I have found something that seems to finally work!

  • Flea-free within a day

    By on

Great product. My cats were flea-free within the day. My cats aren't used to collars, so they've been scratching at them, but I haven't seen them scratch any other area since applying the collars 2 weeks ago. My only complaint is that the collars loosen too easily. It's nice to know my cats won't get stuck on anything, but the cats can loosen the collars simply by scratching or getting their claws caught. So, I have to tighten the collars almost daily. The collars are also a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money.

  • When All Else Fails! Amazing Product!

My two cats have been on Revolution for years with no problems. I recently adopted a third that goes outside and of course, brought in some fleas. I put Revolution on him, too, but to no avail. They were all covered! I bought my indoor/outdoor boy one of these collars and bam, it worked wonders! One week later, I bought the other two their collars and within 48 hours, we were flea free! I sooooo recommend this product and Chewy.com! Wonderful company!

  • Working great so far!

Glad that I found out about these collars. I have two cats and thought this would be easier than using the topicals. One of my cats has dense thick fur and he has had no problem with the collar. He's the one that likes to play outside, so I did use all three reflectors on his. My other cat has thinner, medium length hair and she started to develop an wound in one area. I was super worried, but then realized that it was because of the single reflector that I attached to her collar. I removed the reflector and the area began to heal and she hasn't had any problem since then. These collars are doing their job. I haven't found any ticks on my outdoor cat and they seem to be free of fleas as well. Glad that I found out about these collars. • Fantastic!

    By on

I bought 3 for my fur babies. It was such a relief for them! This is the first time in over 2 years that they got fleas, since they are indoor cats. My one kitty was so torn up from the flea bites that I wasn't sure about buying the collar at that price. Now I realize it was worth every cent. It was almost instantaneously over night they all stopped scratching. Within a week my Minnie was healed. I would definitely recommend buying this collar!

  • Horrible product horrible custumer service

    By on

I bough the collar hoping to save a few bucks and have peace of mind for 8 months. The collar didn't work my cat after 3 moths had fleas. I called custumer service and it was a nightmare they refuse to get my money back finding all excuses. My cat vet recommended Cheristin and wow from the First application we could see this pets being kill. Now my cat does not have fleas. Still costly the product but it works.

  • If you try them you'll love them.

Soresto collars are what I use on all 4 of my dogs and my cat. I live where deer frequently cross our property and where ticks can be a problem. I have never had 1 tick on my pets since I started using Soresto. "Even my indoor outdoor cat." Totally worth the investment I promise!!! And they are cheaper thru Chewy!:)

  • did not work

I am giving the same review I gave for my dogs seresto. I received it on a Thursday called 8 days later. Was told by the chewy customer service rep I should give it 3 wks to work. The instructions say 48hrs. to work. Unless this customer service rep is a flea expert and an expert on seresto flea collars I will go by the insert in the package. Shaking my head on this customer service rep.

  • Flea Free!

    By on

Apparently fleas in my neighborhood have developed resistance to other flea remedies, and my pets have been infested despite all the products I have bought from my vet and pet store since December. I have spent hundreds of dollars, to no avail. My last resort was Seresto Flea and Tick Collars, and they are working! My cats and I are much more comfortable, healthier, and happier!
