Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance: It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by:* You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc.* Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals.* Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your back yard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs.* Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your back yard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through.* Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

How does Seresto work?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:*

Imidacloprid

has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.*

Flumethrin

effectively repels and kills ticks.Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.*Sustained release technology*Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar. The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.*If your cat is not used to collars*Rarely, mild application site reactions may occur such as scratching, redness and hair loss, which usually recover within 1 to 2 weeks without the need for collar removal. In some cases, temporary collar removal and bathing may be recommended until symptoms have disappeared. In very rare cases, application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur. In these instances, collar removal is recommended. If signs persist or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for cats?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

How do I store and dispose of Seresto?

Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal.* Storage: Store in original unopened container in a cool, dry place that is inaccessible to children.* Disposal: Dispose of container, pouch and expired collar in trash.

  • We are flea free!

    By on

Delivered Dec 28, put on cats that day. They have never had a collar so it was a bit of an adjustment for both of them. I have combed them each day since put on. The collar worked almost immediately. A couple if days and there was no more scratcing. No issues with collar irritating the neck area. I had used Advantage II and multi with no luck at all. This collar was the answer to relief for Scarlett 8 yrs and Whisper 7 mos. Both indoor cats. Both feral rescues from the outside as kittens about 4 wks old. I believe Whisper brought the fleas with her. Both fine now and I am so happy with this product. Highly recommended to any pet family.

  • Convenient

    By on

I have two cats that are indoor cats but also hang out around our screened patio. I decided to get the Collar based on other people's reviews of how it helped their pets and the convenience factor. I placed them on my kitties while they were very sleepy so it wasnt much of a struggle. I do notice them scratching around the collar area occasionally but I think its because they are not used to it. Its not tight around their neck as I followed the recommended directions per their Youtube video.

  • Best Flea Collar

    By on

I bought this collar for a stray cat that has lived in my yard since Nov. '17 and replaced it every 8 months and was impressed with results. I recently adopted my stray cat and when I took him to the vet for first wellness exam, the vet was surprised he had no fleas or bugs on him so this collar works. I just bought him another one and will continue to buy it. Worth the money.

  • Only collar of any kind my cat has left on, and works great for flea control

    By on

My 16 year old cat is very allergic to fleas and she has hated collars since she was a kitten. I decided to give this a try rather than the monthly solution you have to put between shoulder blades. I told her what the collar was for and it must have started killing fleas right away because she has not made any efforts to get it off, and is a very happy cat not having to deal with fleas

  • Best Protection

    By on

This is the best protection I've found yet for my cat. We live in a high-risk area for ticks and Lyme Disease and this collar works well in keeping off the fleas and ticks. It was recommended by my vet, and since I started using it, I won't go back to anything else. It's well worth the money for the protection of my beloved furr-ball!

  • Helped my indoor cat for about three months.

    By on

All the five-star reviews convinced me to get this flea collar for one of my two indoor cats. For about three months it helped--most of the fleas disappeared. I could comb out the remaining fleas and the cat loved the grooming sessions. Then the collar began to fail. To be fair, Advantage does not work for either of the cats. I'm switching to a Rx flea treatment prescribed by a vet. I will not order this collar again.

  • Blew my mind

After battling with fleas for what seems like forever, I decided to call the vet myself. They recommended seresto, and I am blown away at the results. Unfortunately, I am living with housemates who have 2 cats, both of which go outside and bring in fleas. My cat is indoors only and she was affected by housemates cats. My housemate refuses to address the flea problem, so I've been frustrated for months trying to find a fix. She had tried frontline and flea shampoo but neither did anything. I purchased one collar for my cat, and despite her being the only cat with a collar, I have not seen one flea on her since. I am able to let my cat sleep in my bed again and I couldn't be happier. • Sort of Worked for 5 Months

    By on

My mother had great luck with this collar on her barn cat, living 100% outdoors and no fleas or ticks. I have two indoor cats, who have never set foot outside since I got them, no other pets, and these collars didn't work for me. They went 5 months without getting fleas, but I wonder if being indoor cats if the collar actually worked for 5 months or if they just didn't come in contact with fleas for 5 months. Not sure why it works on some cats but not others, but it did not work for mine!

  • Doesn't work for the fleas in South Carolina

    By on

Have bought this product twice (replaced 1st only after 4 months) and it never has gotten rid of a unique flea that is black and leaves plenty of their excretion on the cats and bedding. Even kept cats indoor for 7 weeks and still couldn't get rid of the fleas and their excretion. This is a huge disappointment as these fleas are disgusting and have to comb cats x 3 times a day.

  • Seresto is one great product

    By on

This is the second time I have purchased this product. I love it because it does not have any "powder" residue on it, and Annie does not mind wearing it at all. It really works and that is the best part. The price may seem high but if you do the math is actually a bit cheaper than buying the other brands that require monthly application/changing. Two thumbs up!
