Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance: It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by:* You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc.* Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals.* Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your back yard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs.* Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your back yard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through.* Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

What are the benefits of Seresto?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:*

Imidacloprid

has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.*

Flumethrin

effectively repels and kills ticks.Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.*Sustained release technology*Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

Is Seresto water resistant?

Seresto is water resistant. The active ingredients of Seresto are contained within the Bayer Polymer Matrix, making it water-resistant. Therefore it is unnecessary to remove the collar before the pet is immersed in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for eight months. In order to maintain an 8-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar. The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for dogs?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

When can I bathe my dog after application of Seresto for dogs?

We recommend bathing BEFORE applying product. Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing. Please use a non-stripping, pet shampoo.

How often can I allow my dog to swim when using Seresto for dogs?

Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for swimming.

How often can I bathe my dog when using Seresto for dogs?

  • We recommend bathing BEFORE applying monthly product. The product can be applied once the pet is towel dried.* We suggest using non-stripping shampoos that are specifically designed for use on pets.* ‘Non-stripping’ shampoos are generally soap free formulations designed for general cleansing. Bayer makes a variety of shampoos that are non-stripping, general cleansing shampoos.* Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. • Our Little furry kids were not comfy.... itching crazy out of no where.....

I never was really a fan of flea collars, yet, Soresto was highly recommended from our groomer. Despite the late fall season & colder weather... out of no where... our baby girl (8 yr old rescue) started to scratch like crazy. We treat her monthly & thought she just needed a decent grooming. We saw not one sign of fleas, eggs, ... nothing. The groomer told us she had some fleas. Yikes... Being a life long pet owner & lover... I never, ever, had a pet with fleas without seeing them or any trace of them at all. I didn't want to purchase Soresto, as I thought it was too pricey. Chewy had the best price & reluctantly, we purchased. • Seresto Makes Great Improvement in Flea Control

    By on

After many years of using a leading topical flea control product we switched to Seresto. The topical product simply stopped providing adequate flea control. Our dogs were continually infested. We would use CapStar from time to time and completely eradicate fleas, but only for a short period. At the recommendation of others we purchased these collars and they immediately went to work. To date we have not had a return of the flea problem

I ordered two seresto collars for my two small dogs. one dog some how managed to chew his collar off & the other dog somehow the collar came off. I now have the one that was chewed crazy glued together, They are very expensive to have issues with. And.. they are supposed to last for 8 months. Have to take off with a razor blade & re-glue when i bathe.

  • Finally an over the counter product that works!

    By on

This is the second Seresto flea and tick collar I have purchased for my small dog and it works like a charm. As soon as I noticed fleas on my dog I bought this and thy were gone within a day. Note: If the fleas have had time to populate in the home you may still see fleas. You will have to clean and vacuum frequently for awhile and they will be eliminated eventually. Stick with it.

  • could be made better

My rating for this product would go up dramatically if the product was made more like a regular dog collar that latches. Particularly when it comes to puppies playing, this product as made does not stand up. I have had to scour the field to find a missing collar, and once found it chewed to pieces. It is a great product for dogs that do not play and wrestle around the neck area. If you do have wrestling pups, I would suggest going with a traditional flea and tick meds, or you may be greatly disappointed at having paid the high price only to find it missing a week or month later! So my rating is: 4 star for an adult dog, 2 star for puppies, 5 star if it was made more like a traditional collar My rating for this product would go up dramatically if the product was made more like a regular dog collar that latches. • Not what I expected

    By on

I have four dogs and decided to use Seresto for fleas and ticks. The collars didn't last as long as I had expected and we now have fleas like I have never had them before. They are everywhere in my house now. It's supposed to cover fleas and ticks. It does kill ticks, I have found ticks on my dog's dead, I have found ticks on my dogs crawling, but none live biting on them. I did get new collars right away from chewy, but that doesn't cover the fleas or all the treatments it will take to rid my house of fleas now. Going back to the topical I have always used.

  • These things work...and super fast free delivery

I've been using these flea collars for three years. I buy them from Chewy because they're about $25 cheaper than from my vet. The collars are outstanding. I haven't seen a flea on any of my 5 dogs since I started using them. And I love that Chewy gets these and other products to me in 2 days. Amazing!

  • Chewy.com is the best

    By on

My first collar worked just as it said and my dog Ruby was finally not scratching, rolling around and just plain stressing. The 2nd collar didn't work at all but CHEWY.COM reimbursed my money, they were quick to answer questions. Chewy is the best for customer service hands down. Love, love, love them. I am going to order another collar today Hoping it works for Ruby and she can enjoy being a happy dog instead of in misery. Thank you Laurie Benjamin and Ruby

  • So totally worth the money!!!!!

Living on a farm my dogs tend to get cover but I mean covered with ticks, baths and other products weren’t working on them... I was getting frustrated. I decided to try this collar hoping I got what I paid for. Oh wow... I wasn’t expecting for all the ticks to fall off ( the instructions tell you to remove Ticks before putting on) by with in one day they had no more. Not a single tick. I was amazed they all fell off and haven’t returned... I’m buying this every year for them.

  • Definitely works, but not for 8 months

    By on

I bought these for my two chiweenies who range between 15-17 lbs. I had been using Frontline and it was no longer working so someone suggested this. I will say they definitely worked. It was a bad tick season and my boys were tick free until a month ago. I put the collars on May 27, 2017 and I am ordering two more today because I took a tick off one dog this morning and it is the second one I have seen on him in a month. So, they worked wonderfully for four full months. I will hold the new ones for another month to see if both dogs stay tick / flea free.
