Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

About Seresto

Vet-Recommended Flea and Tick Protection

Help your dog lead the pack with long-lasting 8 month protection from Elanco. This easy-to-use, non-greasy, odorless collar kills and repels fleas and ticks for eight continuous months with daily wear, and can even help treat and control sarcoptic mange and lice. Get the performance you expect from a monthly treatment in an economical collar for convenient, effective protection.

Continuous Release for Long-Lasting Prevention

With Seresto, fleas and ticks are killed and repelled through contact, with no biting required. The active ingredients stored within the collar release in low concentrations with daily wear and distribute over your dog's skin and coat from head to tail for effective coverage. As the active ingredients wear off over time, the collar continuously replenishes the skin and coat with a new supply, for 8 continuous months.

Why Choose Seresto?

The veterinarian-recommended Seresto collar is non-greasy and helps avoid the inconvenience of applying monthly treatments. If fleas and ticks are repelled, they cannot bite and transmit dangerous diseases. It also helps to treat and control sarcoptic mange and kill lice. Seresto also doesn't interfere with your dog's regular collar and can easily be worn simultaneously.

Protection Your Pet Can Wear

Seresto brings convenience to every pet owner with lasting 8 month protection against fleas and ticks. Plus, Seresto works through contact which means fleas and ticks don't have to bite for the active ingredients to work. It's also available without a prescription, so it's just one less step to take care of.

A Little Water Never Slowed You Down

Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control.

About Seresto

Seresto is manufactured by Elanco, a leading name in the healthcare industry for over 150 years. Seresto kills and repels fleas and ticks for eight continuous months in one easy-to-use, non-greasy, odorless collar. It effectively kills fleas and ticks and is veterinarian-recommended, so you can feel confident knowing that your pet is getting effective protection.

For dogs with longer hair, like a chow or Bernese Mountain Dog, does this need to touch skin or will it still work on top of thick/long hair?
Answer by GregMar 11, 2023
We have golden retrievers which have longer hair and the work fine for them. According to product information I have seen, the collar just needs to be in contact with the fur/hair.

How do you loosen a collar that has become to tight
Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2018
Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar.

Does this collar kill mites too?
Answer by ChewyAug 04, 2017
The active ingredients protect from fleas, ticks, and lice. Mites are in the same family as ticks and may be controlled by this collar, but this is not a specified function of the Seresto collar.

Is Seresto by prescription only?
Answer by ChewyFeb 20, 2018
A prescription is not required for this collar.

Stopped working in 2 months!

My animals 2 dogs and 2 cats had fleas and were miserable. I am on a low fixed income so I have to account for every penny. I bought 4 of these in Feb and put them on in March. It seemed great. Within about 2 weeks, zero fleas. But here it is only May and they are scratching again and sure enough when I went through their fur, fleas! It’s only May and they have stopped working! What a lying garbage rip off company is Seresto! I went without food to buy these so we would have 8 months of relief! I want my money back from lying scamming Seresto!

Doesn't work...maybe bad batch of collars

After over 9 years of using Seresto collars, all always raving about how great they are, I've got one that doesn't work. Ever since I changed my dogs seresto last month, all I've done is pick ticks off him full engorged. At 14 years old I'm afraid he now will have lyme disease because of this faulty collar, and the 30 days doxy treatment will take a toll on my beautiful healthy senior. BTW before this I have never seen a tick on him and he has worn a seresto for over 9 years. So disappointed.

Caused chemical burn

We have been using Seresto collars for our dog for a couple years now and have had no problem. This last one though, after putting it on our dog, we noticed a big red spot on the front of his neck. Upon inspection, there was a huge circle on the front of his neck - the fur was gone and a big red circle of irritation was there. We took the collar off, and the next day noticed there was another circle on the back of his neck with no hair and irritation. I researched online and realized this was a chemical burn, and we had to wash his neck. This has never happened before, and I'm wondering if this collar was an imitation/fake Seresto collar, or what.

Double Tick!!

This spring/summer season in upstate NY has been a tic invasion big time. My vet said you have to double treat your dog with a pill each month PLUS a Soresto collar. I listened, no more ticks in the house and if they enter, they are dead!! and the ticks fall dead right off of him. So, looks like we have to double treat our pets who go outside. Soresto has no smell, easy to install, replace in 8 months. GREAT addition to deal with a tick condition!!!

Don’t recommend

Ordered Three after moving to another state and vet recommended something other than a topical as they don’t work in new area. We have two 9yo dogs one Yellow lab one Golden Retriever/Black Lab mix and a 18 month old English Bulldog. The yellow lab is the only one still wearing the collar please do research my girl was so sick hours after putting collar on her same with bulldog both had severe gastric distress horrible gas watery stool for two days (24 hours after the collar removed) they stabilized. Called company they tried to blame the dogs licking the collar which isnt possible. I did read up on this and see some places refuse to sell this item due to Illness and death in pets.

Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky

We have a 9 month old Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky mix so he’s a pretty big boy. Have used since he was old enough but be careful. If you have other dogs that roughhouse play biting at the necks and what not you should not have the collar. Our pup has the coat of the Malamute so very extra thick and long hair. Even though I brush him w/ detangling spray daily I still have to take him to the groomers when the knots get really bad around his ears that I do the best I can to prevent. Anyways, haven’t even had the collar for 4 months and already pulled a huge attached tick that was on his chest. I have to call the vet to get him Lyme tested now. There’s a difference between long thick fur of any dog and long extra thick fur of a husky. I’m now going on the chewables…

Works well

These collars work great, and my dogs don't notice they're even on. There is a bit of powder on the color itself. It also comes with reflectors which are helpful at night, but hard to put on. My one dog is a little over 18 lbs so I ordered the larger collar, but I should have bought the smaller one because there was a lot of excess.

I used to recommend it, but now I'm not so sure

I've been using seresto collars on my dogs now since my younger dog was a puppy. Scout turns 3 in August and I never had an issue but ever since I put my recent collar on her in late January I've pulled at least 3 live ticks off her which clearly means the collar isn't working properly. I'm very limited in what flea and tick prevention I can use because she is an Aussie at higher risk for the MDR1 gene. She has only had this collar on for 4 months, and it's not working. She doesn't get baths with it. Scout very rarely goes in water, so that isn't even a factor, and she always wears it correctly. I'm at a complete loss on what to do for flea and tick prevention. If this collar isn't working, they aren't exactly affordable to replace due to a bad batch. I'll be trying to contact the company, but I doubt I'll get anywhere!

This works!

This is the best flea and tick prevention. I live in an area that has alot of fleas & ticks because I am 1.5 blocks fron the Rio Grande River. Ive tried everything and Seresto works. However, to be on the safe side and to avoud seeing my start scratching in the 7th month, I replace the Seresto collar every 6 months.

Great flea prevention

I have been using these collars for years and have not had any fleas on my dogs, nor on the rescues that I have cared for throughout the years. At any given time, I care for 20 dogs, and again I have never had a flea by using these collars. I am also allergic to plenty of flea products out there, and I’ve never had an issue with these, causing me a rash or anything. I highly recommend these collars. and the service at Chewy, as always, is tremendous
