Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

About Seresto

Vet-Recommended Flea and Tick Protection

Help your dog lead the pack with long-lasting 8 month protection from Elanco. This easy-to-use, non-greasy, odorless collar kills and repels fleas and ticks for eight continuous months with daily wear, and can even help treat and control sarcoptic mange and lice. Get the performance you expect from a monthly treatment in an economical collar for convenient, effective protection.

Continuous Release for Long-Lasting Prevention

With Seresto, fleas and ticks are killed and repelled through contact, with no biting required. The active ingredients stored within the collar release in low concentrations with daily wear and distribute over your dog's skin and coat from head to tail for effective coverage. As the active ingredients wear off over time, the collar continuously replenishes the skin and coat with a new supply, for 8 continuous months.

Why Choose Seresto?

The veterinarian-recommended Seresto collar is non-greasy and helps avoid the inconvenience of applying monthly treatments. If fleas and ticks are repelled, they cannot bite and transmit dangerous diseases. It also helps to treat and control sarcoptic mange and kill lice. Seresto also doesn't interfere with your dog's regular collar and can easily be worn simultaneously.

Protection Your Pet Can Wear

Seresto brings convenience to every pet owner with lasting 8 month protection against fleas and ticks. Plus, Seresto works through contact which means fleas and ticks don't have to bite for the active ingredients to work. It's also available without a prescription, so it's just one less step to take care of.

A Little Water Never Slowed You Down

Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control.

About Seresto

Seresto is manufactured by Elanco, a leading name in the healthcare industry for over 150 years. Seresto kills and repels fleas and ticks for eight continuous months in one easy-to-use, non-greasy, odorless collar. It effectively kills fleas and ticks and is veterinarian-recommended, so you can feel confident knowing that your pet is getting effective protection.

Questions & Answers

For dogs with longer hair, like a chow or Bernese Mountain Dog, does this need to touch skin or will it still work on top of thick/long hair?
Answer by GregMar 11, 2023
We have golden retrievers which have longer hair and the work fine for them. According to product information I have seen, the collar just needs to be in contact with the fur/hair.

How do you loosen a collar that has become to tight
Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2018
Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar.

Does this collar kill mites too?
Answer by ChewyAug 04, 2017
The active ingredients protect from fleas, ticks, and lice. Mites are in the same family as ticks and may be controlled by this collar, but this is not a specified function of the Seresto collar.

Is Seresto by prescription only?
Answer by ChewyFeb 20, 2018
A prescription is not required for this collar.

Seresto: a failure

Unfortunately, this collar did not work. Our dog had a small number of fleas so we gave him a flea bath, Capstar, treated the house and the backyard/deck. All was good. Ordered him a collar, gave him another Capstar since it had been almost a week since the first, put on the collar and within a couple weeks he had fleas again. Vacuuming daily and had treated our cats with a topical treatment. Cats are fine; dog with Seresto collar was not. I am convinced this does not kill fleas or larvae as he is the only animal is this house with fleas. Bought and treated him with Pet Armor Plus and he is doing better. This collar is trash.

Breathing Problems

I'll be contacting Chewy directly, but felt I should warn that this caused breathing problems for my 75lbs pittie. Within 24 hrs of wearing it she developed breathing difficulties that steadily got worse. Stupidly, I didn't think of the callar until 48 hrs after she started wearing it. Once I took it off, within 8 hrs her breathing became normal again. (I said 8, but I'm not sure. I took it off before bed and when I woke up she was fine.)

very disappointed

We have been using Seresto collars on our 2 dogs for 10 years, both dogs had fleas after 4 months of use. We replaced the collars and within a month fleas again, this is not a cheap item to not work. After vet recommendations we will be switching to something that works. Cannot submit review without recommendation of item, we do not recommend.

Causes rashes, doesn’t prevent ticks

My dog had skin irrigation when he used topical fleas tick treatment, so I ordered the collar as the alternative. It’s quite expensive but it’s literally does nothing. I noticed tick bites and it caused rashes on his neck. I’ve tried taking off the collar for healing the rashes, but when I put it back, the rashes came back and my dog would keep scratching his neck. Don’t recommend it, and I wish to find some good fleas tick treatment on chewy

The best

Seriously though we're from Alaska and haven't even had to deal with fleas and in the rare occasion a tick... I tried many homeopathic stuff, and many other products, before discovering these collars... wow spendy, however they work super well.... thanks for having a bit of a discount on Auto ship... my dogs Raven and River and I thank you.... DOES NOT WORK/DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I have used these collars off and on for years. I have not used them in sevearl years and now have an issue so I purchased 6 for my dogs. After baths and a de-ticking and collars on 2 weeks....the dogs are loaded with ticks again! So disappointed I wasted all this money for nothing!

Good

I purchased these for all my pets, 2 dogs 8 cats so it was a pretty penny. I works great no one got sick from them, and I have older and younger pets. but it's been 6 months and I notice some fleas now. So they don't seem to last the full 8 months. But I will buy this again

Absolutely a waste of money

I've always been told that seresto collars were fantastic until a few years ago when bayer changed over to elanco. I decided to give them a try anyway when this year we suddenly started having flea issues because of strays(an issue that is now under control). I have always treated my entire yard every one-three months and never had an issue with fleas until this laat year. The first collar broke while the dog was sleeping in bed with me. The second collar the dog chewed off of the other dog and ate most of it. The last collar I had left I put on my big male at the end of April, early May. Last week I found fleas LIVING under the collar of my dog's neck, also wound up finding about 20 more fleas on him that day. I do weekly flea checks on all of my pets and bathe them regularly. I can deal with an occasional flea because no product Is perfect. I have one smaller dog who is highly allergic to flea bites and gets hives with a single flea bite. He had a seresto collar on too for the last several months and it has been at LEAST weekly that I find one-two fleas on him, and his poor skin is sore and inflamed and itchy. What a failure elanco is.

Seresto no longer works

Seresto collars were our go to for flea and tick treatment for the last few years. This year it seems the collars have worked in keeping the ticks at bay, but we have a flea outbreak for the first time in years. Now we are scrambling to get it under control with our pets. These collars are not cheap. I don’t know if they changed the formula or this is a bad batch, but we can no longer trust this brand.

Doesn't work anymore

I used to buy these collars for my dog every year and they worked fantastic. The last few times I've bought them they have not worked. The first time I had an issue I thought maybe i just got a bad batch so i contacted chewy and told them what was going on and they sent me 2 brand new ones at no charge to me, they seemed to work ok at first but then I realized the only relief my dogs got was when I bathed them and the fleas were all still there. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and ordered them again in June and put them on both my dogs, again to no avail they are still loaded with fleas, I bath them everyday, I've even given them haircuts to try to eliminate some of the hair they can hide in but still no such luck. I am not sure what happen to the quality of these collars but they are no good anymore and now I have to find something else to try and help my furry friends. This review is not about chewy, this company is amazing and has tried to help, it's about the product and manufacturer. I believe they changed the ingredients or something and it's not as effective anymore so I will not be buying again. It's hard for me to find something that works especially for my one dog who is 16 yrs old and pills are hard on his stomach. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thank you chewy for amazing products and customer service.
