Instructions

Use only one collar per animal. Fit collar around your pet's neck, allowing for 2 fingers to fit between the collar and your pet's neck to ensure a comfortable, yet snug, fit. Once collar is properly fitted, cut off any excess collar measuring 1" or longer. The collar should be worn continuously for the 8 month protection period. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when puppies are rapidly growing. Keep the collar in the bag and in the outer packaging until use. Replace the collar after 8 months for optimal tick and flea protection.

Water Resistance: It is unnecessary to remove the collar before immersing your pet in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. In order to maintain an 8 month duration, pets must not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by:* You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc.* Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals.* Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your back yard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs.* Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your back yard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through.* Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

What are the benefits of Seresto?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:*

Imidacloprid

has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.*

Flumethrin

effectively repels and kills ticks.Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.*Sustained release technology*Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.Bayer's polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

Is Seresto water resistant?

Seresto is water resistant. The active ingredients of Seresto are contained within the Bayer Polymer Matrix, making it water-resistant. Therefore it is unnecessary to remove the collar before the pet is immersed in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for eight months. In order to maintain an 8-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat's own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar. The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for dogs?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

When can I bathe my dog after application of Seresto for dogs?

We recommend bathing BEFORE applying product. Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing. Please use a non-stripping, pet shampoo.

How often can I allow my dog to swim when using Seresto for dogs?

Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for swimming.

How often can I bathe my dog when using Seresto for dogs?

  • We recommend bathing BEFORE applying monthly product. The product can be applied once the pet is towel dried.* We suggest using non-stripping shampoos that are specifically designed for use on pets.* ‘Non-stripping’ shampoos are generally soap free formulations designed for general cleansing. Bayer makes a variety of shampoos that are non-stripping, general cleansing shampoos.* Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing.

  • Best flea stuff around

    By on

I have just purchased this for my dog, but used it in my 3 cats last year and it really works, none of the spot stuff on worked especially on my big fat orange cat, Oscar, you could see the fleas running on his white belly. I got the collars from the vet and they were very expensive but well worth the money. I have not seen a but 1-2 fleas on him since last May and that was just recently, time to replace them. I have been paying as much for flea pills for my Pryanees in 3 months as I can get a collar that will last 8 months and with a lot less trouble, she hates the pill, have to force her to take them. I highly recommend them. Thx to Bayer for this great invention. LOVE LOVE LOVE It.

  • Great product, hassle free

Since putting my dogs on ProHeart every 6 months for heartworm prevention I wanted to find a flea solution that was similar. I was so sick of shoving a pill down all my dogs throats every month. I change my Soresto collar when my dogs get their ProHeart Injection. It probably works for 8 months but I figure it can't hurt to do it every 6 months. Since using the collar I have seen one flea on my dog and it was dead! The only thing you do have to watch out for is intestinal parasites if your dog is a digger or likes eating other animals feces you might want to make sure they are on a preventative that does intestinal parasites too.

  • There's Hope for Hope

This is my second Seresto flea collar and seems to work well. I have not seen a flea on my puppy. I do have to adjust it from time to time as she is definitely in the growing stage, but I would highly recommend this. My first one was purchased from my vet and my second was purchased from Chewy. I save money making my purchases and am glad that my vet recommended Chewy for my puppy food. I have bought other items now from Chewy and would definitely go back and order from them again when I need something.

  • The collar I received had a strong chemical smell?

    By on

I have purchased a seresto collar in the past from our vet, and I absolutely loved it! It was easy, convenient, and effective. I live in the north east where ticks are a huge problem, and I never found one tick on my beagle the entirety of the spring/summer seasons. I was excited to hear the chewy had it on their website for a lot cheaper, so I ordered one. When it arrived the other day I opened it to put on my dog and was overwhelmed by a chemically smell. I did not remember the previous collar I purchased ever having a strong smell. I called chewy right away, and they recommended tossing the collar, and are now sending me a replacement. The phone operator at chewy was pleasant and helpful! I have purchased a seresto collar in the past from our vet, and I absolutely loved it! It was easy, convenient, and effective. • The best solution for fleas that I have found

    By on

I started using the Seresto collar when the cost of the spot on flea remedies started to become foolish. I had found that some of the cheaper ones where ineffective so had switched to one of the most expensive ones on the market, which, though it protected against everything, almost broke the bank every year. I had seen a commercial for this and tried it. It works great and the cost is far cheaper than the good spot ons. The ticks die where they are on the dog, and this past year, they were terrible, and I have never even see a flea, since starting with this collar. The dog can swim with the collar on, and though I take mine off to bath, I am pretty sure it can be left on. There is no downside to this thing, other than a little bit of dry skin on one of my dogs that is easily remedied with a little ground flax seed in her food every morning. I tell everyone about this collar! … more

  • Great product, good price.

    By on

I first used a Seresto collar on my 65 lb. GSD/Husky mix female last year. I had been finding ticks on her almost daily, as they seemed to have increased in my area. Frontline kept fleas off but she still got ticks. From a day after I started using the Seresto collar and for the next 7 months I never found a single tick on my dog. Worked great. I bought another one from Chewy.com to use in 2018. The price is about $15 less than I paid at the vet last year.

  • Seresto really works!!

For the first time my two dogs are flea free!! We rescued them over a year ago. We have had a major flea problem and we live on a sand hill which attracts them. Our dogs have been miserable for a long time. We have tried everything you can think of. So when I heard about the Seresto coller I was very interested but skeptical I really didn't think it was going to work. So my husband and I decided to try it out and I'm happy to say that the boys have been flea free 4 at least 4 days now, and usually after a bath the fleas come back the very next day! I am beyond excited for the first time something actually worked for us Titan and Chopper have not itched at all. I am so excited and will keep buying For the first time my two dogs are flea free!! • This Is Our Go To for Flea and Tick Repellant

    By on

This is our 3rd year using the Seresto collars. They seem a little pricey, but if you don't have to give our use something else monthly, they're really not. We live in a fairly rural area and have not had any problem with fleas. none. We've gone tramping around in the woods and have occasionally seen a tick or two. We check them immediately before we leave so there's a good chance the collar would have taken care of it. We've just never wanted to take that chance.

  • Love this collar

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

So far so good no fleas or ticks. I didn’t want to have to deal with creams or monthly pills for flea/tick prevention. This collar was recommended from my vet and of course chewy has it cheaper than local pet stores. I took one star off bc one of the buckles was bent/damaged, but I was still able to use it. Will be buying this again in 8 months.

  • Ain't no buggies on me!

    By on

We started using Soresto at the beginning of our "tick season" last March. We kept it on our girl through the whole year. Obviously you still have to check for those little buggers, but we haven't had ANY issues with ticks, living in a highly wooded yard/area! It's nice to have the security of being tick & flea free, as she also sleeps with us and we have other animals we need protected within our home.
