Description

Shapley's Original M-T-G Mane Tail Groom Horse Solution treats skin issues at the source with proven results. This unique solution is recommended by veterinarians for a variety of bacterial and fungal skin problems. M-T-G has successfully treated rain rot, dew poisoning, scratches, mud fever, greasy heel, sweet itch, girth itch, itchy skin, dandruff and tail rubbing, and it’s also been used on thrush and white line disease. It works by drying up the affected area so it can begin to heal. Then it conditions the surrounding skin and promotes hair regrowth. Results can be seen as soon as the next day, and you’ll see visible hair growth in three to five days. M-T-G has also been proven to add volume and length to mane and tail hair—as much as three inches per month. It’s also great for hot spots and soothing itchy, dry skin on dogs, cats and livestock.

Instructions

Just rub a small amount into the affected area without disturbing or picking the scabs off. There is no need to rinse or wash out between applications. Once the area is healed and you want to wash the residue off just use Shapley’s Hi Shine Shampoo which is specially formulated to remove Original M-T-G quickly and easily. Shapley’s Easy-Out spray will also remove Original M-T-G both from the horse and from your hands.

For mane and tail growth, rub a small amount once a week at the base of the mane and on the tail bone of the horse. Again, there is no need to rinse or wash off between applications.

Original M-T-G will also work equally as well on dogs, cats and livestock to combat their skin problems including hot spots, itching and dry skin.

    Tried and true

By Sooz on Apr 17, 2021

This product is so useful for all kinds of issues like scrapes and places where hair has been rubbed off. Doesn't smell great but when your horse rubs the tops of their tails or some pasture mate has scrapped a spot of your horse's beautiful coat, this will facilitate new hair growth. This product has been around for generations and there's a good reason why. It works! Always good to have around.

    For my horse

By Zebb on Jan 1, 2021

This is a great product and worked to stop the itching on my horse's tail head. I used it on the tail and put a few drops down the tail bone every few days and the hair grew back full. I started using it on the mane the same way. I have used it when the horse gets a scrape and I put a few drops on that area once it is healed over and it seems to be a big help in growing the hair back.

    Wow, new use!

By CreeNyght on Jan 12, 2021

My rescue had a bad case of mud fever/scratches, on one of his legs, all the way up his pastern into his fetlock. Nothing else I tried seemed to make a dent. Started soaking the area once a day with MTG, and began seeing results withing 48 hours. It has taken a month, but now almost completely healed.

    Love this stuff!

By Sharon on Jan 2, 2021

I've used this for a number of skin issues for my horse. Ordered this latest bottle for rain rot. One application and it's gone. Plus, his coat is nice and soft. One recommendation: be sure to wear gloves while you're working it into the horse's coat -- it will keep your hands from smelling.

Good stuff for itchy, irritated skin

By MareMommie on Jul 12, 2020

I first have to address the issue many raised about the smell. It's simply a sulfur scent. It smells like carbolic soap. Think coal tar shampoo. The smell is a non-issue and shouldn't be even be a consideration for any horse owner worth their salt. Fly sprays are far more offensive in their odor and make a horse sneeze. This doesn't have any effect on my horse's nose or mine. I kind of like the smell, like mild campfire coals. Don't discount this product based on the worry it smells bad. I'm actually irritated that people fussed about it because I was expecting far worse. Second, it works. Use it daily until you see irritation subside and new hair growth, then twice a week or so to continue I first have to address the issue many raised about the smell. It's simply a sulfur scent. Shiny and soft

By AriasGrandma on Jun 11, 2020

My daughter's new horse was neglected every winter and a skinny mess every spring. Lots of grooming and feed later, she's a beauty. Such a glorious mane and tail, thanks to this product.
