I've been waiting for them to develop a flea and heartworm preventative that ALSO prevents ticks, and was delighted when Simparica released this! The price made me hesitant, but when I added up the two preventatives I've used for each dog in the past, it comes out about the same (not much cheaper, but I've been waiting for them to develop a flea and heartworm preventative that ALSO prevents ticks, and was delighted when Simparica released this! The price made me hesitant, but when I added up the two preventatives I've used for each dog in the past, it comes out about the same (not much cheaper, but not more expensive, either). I don't know if it could be a breed type or hair type issue since the 2 who had issues are both herding breeds(one is a pembroke welsh corgi and the other is a lab/border collie mix) and are double coated. The one without issues is a hound breed who has short hair. I'm putting them back on heartgard and bravecto since I don't want to take any risks of the heartworm preventative also running out early. … more
