Five weeks of trials! Finally a winner!

    By on

After five weeks of trials with 2 expensive brands of chicken based food, chicken breasts with rice, and prescription food, my pit bull rescue still had diarrhea. The shelter food also caused diarrhea!?! I even had her tested again for stool parasites and she was still negative. I was in denial that she had a chicken allergy. Desperate, I started this salmon and sweet potato and we have solid poop! Hooray! Every dog is different, but worth a try if you've tried other things and still seeing diarrhea. I also added pumpkin treats and that seems to help too.

    No More Itching!

    By on

My Golden Retriever, Sawyer, is just a puppy. He is up to date on every shot, heartworm treated, and protected from fleas, ticks, etc... however, he would NOT stop itching! At my last vet visit, I asked about this and she first reassured me that Sawyer was indeed flea free. She explained to me that it's a common thing for Goldens to itch due to their easily irritated skin. She said they get dry skin and it's often iirritated and that switching to a salmon and sweet potato food would be, most likely, beneficial. I could NOT find a puppy formula, though, and I was getting frustrated. I signed onto Chewy and BOOM, there it is! After about a month of it now, Sawyer is rarely scratching. FINALLY HAPPY

    By on Top 250 Contributor

My poor 4-month-old Jack Chi would scratch himself every time he ate his food. Assuming it was a flea problem I tried everything from a flea comb, flea bath with Richard's Organic Flea and Tick Shampoo, flea powder, and a flea collar. I could not for the life of me understand this scratching with no relief. My poor Cocoa went through so much unnecessary treatment. The shampoo nearly drove him nuts and we could not leave it on him for five minutes. The other products did not work to alleviate his scratching. He would turn red and so would his eyes. It was discovered that he is allergic to chicken. Most dog foods contain some chicken. No more scratching and he is thriving and happy. The price is a little on the high side but when you compare the price to ProPlan (poultry is included in most of their food), you pay less for the 11-pound bag than for the other higher quality foods. For a fraction of the cost of Proplan, I am 100% sure that my puppy is going to be fine now. whether your dog has allergies or not I would highly recommend this food. Needless to say, it is goodbye Purina (only thing I fed my puppies previously) and hello Simply Nourish for not only Cocoa but any future dogs I may choose to adopt. … more

    Puppies like it!

    By on

My girl puppy is a picky eater, and I tried two other brands, and this one was the winner! She readily comes to her bowl, and eats it all. I am relieved. It seems the other puppy food I had purchased was too high in protein, and it may have been upsetting her stomach as it's harder to digest. Who really knows? Or maybe she just really likes Salmon better than chicken. Either way, I'm just pleased to have found a dog food she's happy with, and my boy puppy likes it too (but he eats everything anyway - not picky).
