Ingredients

100% Organic Oats, Wheat, Rye and Barley.

Instructions

Remove the netting from pellets and replace into each compartment. Pour 3 ounces of warm water onto each pellet in your planting container. Wait 10 minutes for the pellets to absorb the water. Remove about 1 teaspoon of soil from each pellet and set aside. Open seed pack and stir seeds into the soil. Using the soil that you set aside in step 4 cover the seeds and lightly mix. Add water if necessary to keep soil and seeds moist-however, over watering can lead to a fungal and mold growth. Drain any excess water from the bottom tray. Do not allow the seeds to dry out. Lightly mist your garden daily to keep moist. Keep in a location that is between 65-70 degrees F. When the grasses are 3” to 4” tall, you can treat your kitty to its garden.

  • Great so long as you can follow instructions

    By on

I read the reviews and was a little hesitant, but it was a good deal, so I figured I'd risk it and purchase the product. The instructions are great, so long as you know where to find them (that was one of the complaints in the other reviews - there ARE instructions. They're under the bottom tray) The grass grew pretty quickly, although i was unsure how much to plant. My helpful hint here, I just did a dozen seeds or so in each quarter, and I probably should have put more. But it has been easy to add and plant more, so non issue even though i would have done it differently. Within maybe 2 or 3 days I had very tall, lush green grass ready to give to the cat. As it started growing I saw what I thought was the mold everyone was mentioning. It's worth noting that the roots of some (maybe all?) of these grasses are fuzzy. I ruined a couple sprouts before realizing that fact. (oh well - better safe than sorry, but another thing that'd be good to know in advance) Most importantly - it grows quickly and grows very tall (pic doesn't do it justice) and my cat LOVES it!! He cannot stop munching away at it. As mentioned before though, I wish I'd planted more. … more

  • Fun to Plant/Grow and Cats Enjoy the Grass

    By on

My cats seemed to enjoy this cat grass. The box it came with is nice. I would like to point out that the seeds were not separated. They came mixed together in one bag. It took me about an hour to separate them all because I wanted to see if my cats preferred a certain kind over another. The rye grew the fastest. My cats tried each kind of grass, but seemed to prefer the barely. I did notice the fine white mold every now and then, but a few squirts of water and it went away. I gave 4 stars because the seeds weren't separated like the picture makes it seem. Also, it's fairly easy for the cats to make a mess digging in the soil when they get bored with eating the grass. Overall, my cats enjoyed the grass, but I think it'd be too much of a hassle to keep up with ordering seeds and replanting so often. … more

  • Grows Fast

    By on

It's got a very cute box but it outgrows it very fast. I followed the instructions carefully (you'll find them underneath the lower black container), and stirred all the seeds evenly into all 4 compartments once the water was absorbed by the pellets, (not one at a time as directed because that didn't seem necessary in my opinion). After about a week, when the grass was thin and about 5 inches tall, I transplanted it into a larger flower pot with more dirt to give it room to grow. It then grew taller and filled out a lot. I found the box to be too small after about a week but it was good for starting the seedlings.

  • Cat wasn't so interested in it as I was - adorable packaging

    By on

The instructions for how to plant are in between the 2 plastic black containers! There are two plastic black containers stacked up on each other. I purchased two and gave one to a family member and they realized the instructions were there after watering the plant. The plant grew in about 5-6 days (we had a lot of cloudy days up here when I planted it.) It looks adorable but my cat was not interested in it at all. I wondered why since she seems to like chewing on the house plants which is the reason I purchased this. Sigh. Im going to give it another try and see if it can perk up my kitty's interest.

  • Easiest thing to grow ever!

    By on

Open pellets toss in plastic container add water- taker out a spoon of soil from each compartment- add seeds cover with sppon of soil- place in sunny window- spray with water daily- in about three days you have grass shoots- within a week grass is tall enough to eat! Dont forget to order refills! Even my dogs love this grass. I move it around to the room I'm in- only because if I dont my cats will remove it from the tray and try to run under the bed with the whole clump!

  • My Problem Cat Seems to Enjoy

    By on

I bought this product because my problem kitty loves to chew on all plants, fake or real. To keep her from hurting herself and destroying all plant life in my house I purchased Kitty's Garden. The grass grew quickly, few days. My problem kitty seems to be enjoying the grass often. Only issue is there is some white fuzz growing and I'm not sure why, it is in the sun and has not been watered since initial planting. Overall though I am pleased with the purchase as it is a nice planter and the grass grew well.

  • So dang cute & yummy

    By on

It took a few days before I got around to plant the seeds. Misting is important, so I put the mister next to my coffee mug..good reminder. It took about 5 days and the seeds sprouted and grew fast. They are not quite ready yet to give to Miss Kitty, but I know she is going to love it. As it is now, every time I come in the back door, I have to have a handful of grass or she cries until I go back out and pull some out of the lawn. The planter box is perfect, good and sturdy, and so cute, looks perfect in my window shelf.

  • For experienced gardners only

    By on

The garden comes as a kit with no instructions. There is a box and four bags. One bag contains seeds and the others some round disks that have no obvious purpose to a non-gardner. It's left up to the purchaser to provide their own potting soil. The manufacturer should provide instructions. Chewy should put a warning on the product page to the effect that the kit is incomplete and has no directions. I gave it two stars because it probably has value to experienced gardners. It has none for novices like me.

  • Good Treat but Not Lush

    By on

I got this for my 5yo brat-cat who is obsessed with eating grass. The biggest fault I have with it is they don't indicate how densely to add the seeds -- I put in probably 8 for each slot and it definitely is not as lush as the photo indicates but i do have plenty for future use. It grows quickly and my boy definitely loves it so I can't really complain. For the price, I can justify it! I also included water from my fish tank during the first few days and I believe that probably helped the growth. Would likely buy again.

  • Very awesome

    By on

So my 3 cats LOVE this! It took awhile to grow and I was careful not to over water because of the common mold issue. I left out in the sun during the day so the soil would dry out and there wouldn't be a problem. It lasted for about 2 weeks before developing mold from watering. I threw away but he usage out of it before I had to dispose of it, was well worth it. I would recommend and will purchase again.
