Since cats love cracks and crevices, the fun starts before they even get the toy! The SmartCat Peek & Play Toy Box comes with two toys but can be used with any appropriately sized cat toy or treat.

At bedtime,I fill up this box with all sorts of toys, catnip mice, crinkle toys, springs, whatever and in the morning, my cats have all the toys out! I fill it up again in the daytime so I can watch them play, The balls it coms with are great for teaching your cat, because they are so easy to get out. Then challenge them with other toys added, or a few treats. I'm buying another for my Grandcats, as they have plenty of toys.
This is a fun toy and the balls included fit snugly in the holes BUT the replacement balls are TOO SMALL so the cats get them out easily. The included ones eventually also can come out. We just put some of their other toys inside so it still fun for them to get them all out. It would be better if all the balls fit very snugly to be more of a challenge.
I got this for a particular kitty who wants outside and is easily bored. We'll rotate it with other toys to keep it new. He loved it and went strong for a few days. He's slowed down as expected, but still comes back to it. It'll get put away shortly to bring something else out, but in the meantime his brother missing a front leg also plays with it as well as a picky older gal who doesn't play much. I have added other toys that are easier to remove to give them some initial quick success and treats were added once, too. So far my cats haven't a lot of luck removing the balls it came with. They did get one out a few times but were happier when they could get out the toys I added. They do like to chase the balls in the hallway though. It's fun and doesn't take up too much space.
This is so small and only suitable for small kittens. Balls are too large and don't go in and out easily. This is made from composite wood instead of good hard wood. My 7 month old kittens lost interest in this within minutes of my opening the package. These are a poor excuse for the ones made 15 years ago. Very disappointed.
Little Evie fishes around in this toy box constantly. You can change out the toys for constant variety and return all their toys in one place to be fished out all over again.
Well made product but my cats did not find it interesting
Big hit with my cat! Still a favorite after a couple months. I got extra foam balls and added other similar sized balls to the box. I had to demonstrate a bit, but she quickly caught on. (I think she mostly wanted me to play with her and reassure her that this new thing was hers). The foam balls are a hit by themselves; roll very easily on carpet and easy to bat around. If you're on the fence, I would suggest trying those first! For ref, my cat is not declawed, about 4 years old, and generally loves chasing and batting toys around on the floor. She is not food or treat motivated and is a lone cat who prefers quieter play by herself or with her human.
My cats definitely like this. I do wish that it wasn't so easy for them to get the toys out right away. They'd spend more time playing with it if it was more of a challenge. Instead, they pull the toys out in a matter of seconds then lose them. Then I'm doing what I'm always doing:Trying to find where all the toys have ended up.
When I bought this I was a bit taken aback at the price, but when I got it I understood. It's a very well made sturdy wooden box. Definitely worth the cost. My cat loves it. He'll even put his toys into it just so he can then take them back out. It's pretty adorable.
This is would good if the ball was bigger and didn’t fall out of the toy.
