Reach for the stars (and scratch a little when you get there)! The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post has a 32" post height that allows cats to get a full stretch, tone their muscles, and mark their territory without clawing walls or curtains. It's covered in a fibrous woven sisal that won't snag nails like carpet-covered scratch posts.
Sturdy 16" x 16" base keeps post from tipping and wobbling.
32" post height allows your cat to stretch vertically while using the post (important for territorial marking purposes and for toning muscles).
Fibrous and durable woven sisal naturally inspires scratching and relieves cat's stress without snagging cats' nails.
Attractive and neutrally toned to fit in with any home decor.
Assembles quickly and easily with two included screws.
Place the post in a room where the cat spends a lot of time. Cats often like to stretch and scratch when they wake up from a nap.
To introduce the post to your cat try using catnip as a lure. (For most cats a lure is unnecessary, but fun.) Rub catnip onto the sisal material and call the cat over to the post.
Scratch your nails along the surface of the material. This will attract the cat and at the same time teach him where to scratch.
After your cat begins to scratch, praise him and give him a food treat. (Small kittens can be trained to climb the post by showing them food treats and placing it at the top of the post.
If your cat has already been scratching a piece of furniture, place the post directly in front of it.
Temporarily cover the previously scratched areas with a few strips of double-sided carpet tape or clear double-sided tape strips that are designed for this purpose. This will help redirect your cat’s scratching activities to the post.
I had this scratching post, and it lasted consisten use by 3 cats for YEARS. It was finally time to get a new one, and I was so happy to see this was on Chewy.
I don't put this thing fully upright, I lie it on it's side, because my cats prefer scratching horizontally rather than vertically. Plus it acts as a convenient ramp to get up to the bed.
This thing is very sturdy, and doesn't slide around when they try and scratch, which bothers me about a lot of those cardboard scratching posts. Plus with how well built it is they feel safe and steady on it too.
Definitely worth the price. It lasts for many years, and is a good quality product.
Couldn't be Happier!

I got a brand new couch, and one of my rescue cats started scratching on it. To deter her from scratching I did research on the best scratching posts, and this Smart Cat post was one of the best! I didn't know it was important for cats to have tall scratching posts to fully stretch. Both of my cats love it, and they no longer scratch the couch!
Buying Another One

This was gifted to me from a friend whose cat never used it. It's been 4 years and it's finally time to replace. My Cat Son LOOOOOVES this thing. It also goes well with my apartment and kind of blends in which I love. Pet accessories get real tacky real quick, but this one has stood the test of time. Its well made and doesn't look cheap. Highly recommend this to any cat parent.
they love them

Bought one of these about 10 yrs ago and with 7 cats it was worn out. But they were still able to use it. Decided to replace so I bought 2 more. They went to both of them right away. Was so surprised Chewy had processed and delivered them in one day. And that was with free shipping!
I Am Satisfied

What does one say about a cat scratching post?
It was a bit pricy but the thing is tall, very stable, appears to be well made and looks pretty good. It is a scratching post for cats after all. Oh, and the cats seem to know what to do with it.
I am satisfied.
Had kittens on it before I got it all the way out of the box.

My very young kittens (8 weeks) took to this thing instantly. I opened the box and they both turned up immediately and climbed aboard. Once I had it assembled, which was easy, they both clawed it and scaled it. The base makes it quite sturdy, so they can lean hard on it and climb it without wobbling. Once I found a location that they really like, they use it often. There may be some hope for the upholstery.
Solid scratching post

Took my cat a little bit to figure it out, but I think she likes it! The base does slide a little on my wooden floors, but that seems unavoidable and doesn't bother the cat. Overall it's sturdy and tall enough for my cat to comfortably stretch.
Scratching post worth having

This is the perfect size and price point for me. I have several on my main floor near furniture I want to protect. The scratching posts are much more satisfying for the cat ado I have a system that works for me
Tall Scratching Post

Zoey at first was a little nervous with her new scratching post but she is getting the hang of it and manages to get to the top and sit there like she owns the world.
Easy to put together but....

The scratching post is a nice size, easy to assemble with a screw driver, but the sisal has already started to pull away where the cats are scratching (after about one week of use).
