Reach for the stars (and scratch a little when you get there)! The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post has a 32" post height that allows cats to get a full stretch, tone their muscles, and mark their territory without clawing walls or curtains. It's covered in a fibrous woven sisal that won't snag nails like carpet-covered scratch posts.
Sturdy 16" x 16" base keeps post from tipping and wobbling.
32" post height allows your cat to stretch vertically while using the post (important for territorial marking purposes and for toning muscles).
Fibrous and durable woven sisal naturally inspires scratching and relieves cat's stress without snagging cats' nails.
Attractive and neutrally toned to fit in with any home decor.
Assembles quickly and easily with two included screws.
Place the post in a room where the cat spends a lot of time. Cats often like to stretch and scratch when they wake up from a nap.
To introduce the post to your cat try using catnip as a lure. (For most cats a lure is unnecessary, but fun.) Rub catnip onto the sisal material and call the cat over to the post.
Scratch your nails along the surface of the material. This will attract the cat and at the same time teach him where to scratch.
After your cat begins to scratch, praise him and give him a food treat. (Small kittens can be trained to climb the post by showing them food treats and placing it at the top of the post.
If your cat has already been scratching a piece of furniture, place the post directly in front of it.
Temporarily cover the previously scratched areas with a few strips of double-sided carpet tape or clear double-sided tape strips that are designed for this purpose. This will help redirect your cat’s scratching activities to the post.
My cats absolutely LOVE this scratching post! I was hesitate at first because I didn’t want it to be an eyesore in my living room, and it isn’t. It fits in perfectly! It’s sturdy too! I used to buy the cardboard scratchers that would leave small little pieces of cardboard all over the carpet. I was at a major pet store the other day, and the sales clerk explained that the fibrous woven surface is actually better for the cats nails compared to the cardboard scratchers. Overall, one of the best purchases I’ve made from Chewy that will same me money over time!
Truly the Ultimate Scratching Post

This really is the ultimate scratching post. My two little ones prefer rope & sisal scratchers to the carpet covered ones, so I decided to get this one. I had previously purchased a scratcher that this company makes that sits on the floor & they really liked it. Well they love this one! It is very sturdy & I think it will last a very long time. The one thing I would change is being able to see the two holes/indentions with the screws on the top of the scratcher, otherwise it is perfect.

This is my second scratching post. The first lasted 10 years and three cats. The last cat is quite a bit harder on the post than the first two. She is a Bangel with very long claws and I don't suspect this post will last 10 years. After the abuse the post took, it never became unraveled. She shredded it until it looked like a hairy post lol, but it did not come apart. I couldn't have asked more from a post.
Best scratching post ever!

My kitties LOVE this post! We are on our 2nd one. I just wish there was a way that you could buy a replacement center instead of trashing the whole thing. Cause the base and center were still in great shape....just the sisal was worn down. GREAT product!!
Every cat should get one of these

This is the second scratching post we purchased from Chewy. The first one is torn to shreds. My cats love this post. When ordering the first post I also ordered another one of these for a cat sanctuary which also became a huge success there. So, do your cat a favor and give the love. Good idea is to put some catnip on the post as an incentive. After that their fun begins
Best scratcher ever!

My 7 month old Ragamuffin kitten Zoe is obsessed with scratching and had outgrown her old post which was average height. She is now a little over 8pds and needed something sturdy. This post is perfect. She was a bit shy at first so my husband dangled a string from the top and she figured out what to do. Now she’s climbing it and scratching her little heart out!
2nd time buying

Great product! I bought one for my two cats about 5 years ago. They both used it all the time. After getting a 3rd Scottish Fold it was time for a new one. All 3 cats love it. Easy to assemble and works very well.
Look at the size before you judge the price! Waist high!
on Feb 22, 2019
This thing is waist high, and made of high quality materials. A cinch to put together, the sissal will last a long time. My cats took right to it, the waist height is great because they can climb it and scratch their back claws, too. They really seem to enjoy it. I'll definitely get another one when this wears out, more than worth the price for the size and quality, a pleasant surprise.
Just what she wanted.

I got a new couch and was worried my cat would decide that was her new favorite scratching site, so I bought this. She LOVES it, uses it multiple times per day. It is sturdy, and I think she likes the way her nails latch onto the material.

One of our cats is a big bob tail girl weighing in at 15 lbs. she can really stretch her self when clawing this post. She has ripped up other posts in the past but this one is durable and holds up to her abuse!
