Reach for the stars (and scratch a little when you get there)! The SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post has a 32" post height that allows cats to get a full stretch, tone their muscles, and mark their territory without clawing walls or curtains. It's covered in a fibrous woven sisal that won't snag nails like carpet-covered scratch posts.
Sturdy 16" x 16" base keeps post from tipping and wobbling.
32" post height allows your cat to stretch vertically while using the post (important for territorial marking purposes and for toning muscles).
Fibrous and durable woven sisal naturally inspires scratching and relieves cat's stress without snagging cats' nails.
Attractive and neutrally toned to fit in with any home decor.
Assembles quickly and easily with two included screws.
Place the post in a room where the cat spends a lot of time. Cats often like to stretch and scratch when they wake up from a nap.
To introduce the post to your cat try using catnip as a lure. (For most cats a lure is unnecessary, but fun.) Rub catnip onto the sisal material and call the cat over to the post.
Scratch your nails along the surface of the material. This will attract the cat and at the same time teach him where to scratch.
After your cat begins to scratch, praise him and give him a food treat. (Small kittens can be trained to climb the post by showing them food treats and placing it at the top of the post.
If your cat has already been scratching a piece of furniture, place the post directly in front of it.
Temporarily cover the previously scratched areas with a few strips of double-sided carpet tape or clear double-sided tape strips that are designed for this purpose. This will help redirect your cat’s scratching activities to the post.
This product looks expensive, so I try to destroy it whevener the mood takes me - a feature that this item shares with the sofa. This thing is more robust than the sofa, however, so killing it thoroughly takes more work.
This item is **not a sofa substitute**!
- When I attack it, the humans don't really notice. Why is that? I find that I still need to murder the sofa if I want them to freak out.
- Pedestal thing on top is not soft enough for extended sits. Pro: I can pose on it to create a statuesque addition to the decor.
- Can not lie on my side and drag myself crazily along the floor by my claws. You will definitely still need a sofa for that.
a great scratching post

Got this post because of a new chair that Parsnip loved scratching. He didn't touch the post for 4 days but once he did he loved it. It's great that he can do a full stretch on it. Sometimes when he is feeling wild he will wrap all his legs around it and climb it like the trunk of a tree. He has not scratched our chair since because this post is so much better.
Sturdy and durable

It's a great height for our kitties to stretch and perch. It's a woven material which we like cause it gives greater variety with the other types of cat scratchers we have. The kitties like to jump and play around it and it withstands their play. So no worries about it tipping over. Highly recommend.

I bought this post for my Maine Coon kitten who was determined to scratch an upholstered stool. Post is very solid and stable, easy to assemble with two included screws. Cat ignored the post until I put treats ion the top and helped him climb up to get them. After several days he started using the post and now never touches the stool. Good buy, worth the price.
Perfect scratching post

My cat wore out one post of her previous post that had three places to scratch. Once I saw this post in the store with her favorite material I knew she would like it. I found a great price on Chewy. Once home and with the ease of putting it together I rubbed a little catnip on it and my cat a happy girl. It’s tall so she can stretch and scratch well. She loves it!

My boys destroyed the scratching posts on their cat tower over the course of two years. They still love to climb and sleep on the tower so I decided to give this high end scratching post a shot instead of replacing the tower. After two months of heavy usage there is no visible signs of wear. As soon as I took this out of the box I knew it was a winner. Highly recommend purchasing this product.
Durable, easy to assemble, great product!

When I first got my cat, I was looking for a good scratching post he could use rather than my furniture. I bought this scratching post for him and it has lasted 2 1/2 years. I am ordering a new one for him today. Very durable! I would highly recommend this scratching post!
Really well made!

This scratching post is really well made. Way better than any I’ve purchased before! Extra large ‘feet’ make it very stable. I’m betting that my cat Aubergine — who can easily destroy a scratching post in a month — will have her work cut out for her here. Yes — it’s pricey — but not when you consider that it will probably outlast any other scratching post by a factor of 5! Highly recommended!
Best scratching post

This is the second smartcat ultimate scratching post that I have bought, they are the best last for years-finally decided to get a new one and put the old one down in the garage and my cats still use that one down there. I do spray catnip on it once a month.
Purrfect for cats or kittens

We just bought our second scratch post. The first one we bought when our two kittens were three months old. It was great exercise for them and fun. We just bought another one so we have two. Our kitties are now two years old they love to use the scratch post to stretch to jump on top of. Still great fun and good exercise for them. I would definitely recommend this scratch post. Very very durable . Great for the price
