I have a pair of brothers that are a year and a few months old now, and they love it. One is pretty entertained but the other is absolutely obsessed. He's taken to sleeping on the toy when I turn it off! Since it doesn't just spin and has more erratic and less predictable movements, it's able to get kitties in that hunting and pouncing mood. It's very safe as far as I can tell, the motion stopping with very little resistance, and I've not seen any small plastic parts that break off easy that could be a swallow hazard. My device has sustained some damage in the form of holes in the fabric cover, but my boys are pretty rough and I've not had issue yet. I saw this product with an average of four stars and I wanted to have some nice toys that my cat can play with. So I did not read the reviews in detail and just bought this product! This product is sooooooo bad. Don’t waste your money and buy it. I literally could not get it. I open the box when it arrived and put the batteries in. Push the button to turn it on, and it is sooooooo slow, as slow is it can be. Right away speechless. And sometimes when I turn it on, it move for half second, and then stopped. What is wrong with it. I have no idea. This happened in the first day. The product designed to be super slow that I am not even interested in it. I had the older model of this one for about a year and it was perfect. With all the feathers coming off the older model, I thought it was time to get a new one. My cat absolutely LOVES the older model and I wanted her to get a new one so she could play with it. Unfortunately, the older model was better than this one. I was disappointed in how it moved. My cat was still interested, but when my cat catches it, it makes a clicking sound and then it stops moving overall. The directions also state that there are two modes: slow and fast. With the older model, you can just click it again to change the modes since it showed you which mode it was on. With this one, when you try to click on it twice I had the older model of this one for about a year and it was perfect. My cat loves this toy. So much, that she sits on top of the skirt when it is not in motion. Yes, you have to supply and change the double A batteries, but it is worth it for how much play time they get out of it. The "arm" with the tail at the end may become disconnected as it goes around, so I put a little glue on the tip before I screw it on and this holds it in place. If your cats paw or arm should come in contact with the mechanism as it is going around, it will make like a chucking noise, but will not stop. So, just clear the path and the noise will stop. Unfortunately, they do not last long, if you put it on for your cat every day, as I do mine, one day, it will just stop working, My cat loves this toy. If you can find the tiny screwdriver needed to load this device with batteries (why do they make it so hard??) and get it running, you'll still have work to do to get it useable. The "feather" is at the end of a stick that is not solidly straight to the end. This mean that the feather does not stick out the edge of the cover as it should. All the action that should be happening in front of the cat (as in the photo), is happening under the cover. I had to tape a stick to their stick to make it solid. A lot of work, bad design.

The wire that gives the cover it's shape and allows the toy to pass freely underneath broke during my little dude's first time playing with it. Now the kink created by the break traps the toy and it makes a grinding clicking sound trying to get beyond the kink, but luckily my guy still loves to play with it and isn't deterred at all! I'm going to craft a replacement cover and see if that'll hold up a bit better and give him the full experience. So while it was a slight momentary bummer for the human, the feline loves and pays no mind, so we're happy! :)

So the idea behind this is great. I have one cat that is not even remotely interested in any toy that loves this so much. The problem is, the skirt part is so flimsy, he just reaches under, grabs the feather in his mouth and won't let go. It's really not hard to do. And that was all within the first 3 minutes. I'm not mad that I got it, just wish it was harder to get to the feather. Of course I only paid $10 so could be worse. Update: Said cat just rolled over on his back to play with it. I just changed my review. If he is this happy for just one day. I don't care how long it lasts.

I feel like I spend more time correcting the skirt over the toy than the kittens spend on the toy. They love it and I consider it a 'daytime' toy because it is a bit loud, especially when they just lay on it trying to get the toy. So when I put it up at night, they race to first thing in the morning wanting to play but within seconds they have it messed up needing to be fixed. If it was more expensive, I would say it isn't worth it.

5 stars from Bowie, 3 from me. My cat absolutely loves this toy, to the point he meows and paws at me to restart it when it stops. Some times he just likes to watch it. Only problem is the pole the feather is attached to comes disconnected every 5 minutes...so yes, Bowie starts meowing and scratching at me to fix it for him every 5 minutes. So much for occupying my little man so I can get some work done. But boy, does he love this thing!!!

It started to wear down after years of playing and my new kitten loves it so I decided to buy a new one. This new model is awful. First of all, the old one had three different speeds this one has one. It moves so slow that my cat doesn’t even really pounce and has kind of gotten to the point where she doesn’t even care if it’s on. Second, this one has lights that are completely pointless they just light up and flash in a circle on the base of the toy.
