Great cat toy!
If your cat loves to chase things, especially things that are hidden, they may really enjoy this toy! I turned it on for my cat for the first time today and he was immediately interested. He followed it around and batted at the end of the toy from under the sheet. I really like that it stops and changes direction too to keep him guessing. It has a fast and slow setting too which is nice. It also doesn't break if/when your cat catches the end of the toy. It seems like it has an automatic turn off after 20mins or so too so I don't have to worry about it running out of power too quickly. Overall I'm very happy that my cat enjoyed it so much on the first go as you never know sometimes with cats.
This is the 2nd toy I received in 10 days as Chewy was kind enough to send me a replacement for the first toy. I had a few of these when my older cat was a kitten and she loved it. This manufacturer is clueless when they send the products out. You cannot open the battery compartment!! First of all the phillips screw is so tiny I doubt if most people would have such a small phillips head screwdriver in their house. I happen to have one but the screw is so tightly into the hole it is impossible to unscrew. Two toys, the same problem. So completely dissatisfied especially with all the time wasted trying to open the battery compartment,
Stopped working in two days
Sad to say this because I hate leaving bad reviews but this toy is awful in the sense of it being a cheap toy. The idea is great and it definitely entertained my cat for 2 days until it stopped working. Checked the batteries and changed them and it just didn't work. The motor I believe is so weak and cheaply made that it just cannot last or I got a complete dud. But overall I wouldn't recommend this toy.
Great until it broke
My cat loved this and it was amazing for her to play with while I worked from home and she wanted stimulation, but after about two weeks it’s already broken :/ the spinny part with the toy doesn’t rotate anymore despite the device being on. Disappointed and wondering what I can do to fix it or get a new one. That being said, when it was working my cat loved it. If it didnt break so fast I’d give it 5 stars.
All cats personalities can be subjective, but with my 2 11 month old cats, I will say one is enough, but I wish I got 2, one for each of them. Additionally, they are indoor, so they need more stimuli than an outdoor cat. It finally broke today after having it for almost a week and a half. I would say it only broke because my cats would hold on to the “wand” when it is trying to move around, and maybe broke the internal chain that moves it because now when it’s on it won’t turn around and only makes a loud noise. I’ll buy it again just because it’s something that keeps their attention, but I’ll need to buy multiples because they don’t last long. Again, all cats activity levels can be different, mine can be hyper because they are only 11 months old.
Not worth it.
I bought this as a way to keep my old man kitty and little chunky girl something they would enjoy and share, When I first set it up my wishes where fulfilled and they both sat there mesmerized running around from place to place fascinated. Then it would stop and make clicking sounds, then start moving again. I was sure it was part of the play response, I was wrong! It would stop and not go around and made a loud repeated clicking noise, as if it was trying to engage the gear that made it spin. The loud clicking noise scared my little girl who is very timid and being that it wasn't moving my old man walked away to take a nap. I changed the batteries, it still clicked and never engaged to make a full sweep. a waste of money.
This is the fourth or fifth iteration of this type of toy in my house - it’s the only type of toy one of my cats will only play with. I have the tendency to just order whichever one is cheapest and this time around it was one one. I’m sure there are people who has gotten this same exact toy and had no problems. I, however, had a few: It definitely spins and lights up, but it also makes a terrible grinding noise whenever the spinning arm meets resistance (like a cat playing with it). I have never had that problem with any toy like this, regardless of brand. Also- the little sheet that goes over the wand was kinda weird upon arrival. There was an excess amount, so the wand kept tangling the sheet around the motor and making that terrible grinding noise. I accommodated by using some staples but it’s still not quite right. I gave 2 stars because my cats can still play with it despite the challenges mentioned above. It’s more of an inconvenience for me. This type of toy- 5/5 My experience with this particular model- 2/5
Great toy, but drive belt insubstantial.
My 3 "healthy," energetic cats absolutely love this toy, but when they pounce on it and hold it down the drive belt tends to pop off, then we have to open it up and put the belt (rubber band) back on. This happens a lot, wish this toy was engineered a little better.
Not Great, To Be Honest
Moves pretty slow even on the faster setting. Luckily the cat seems to still find some enjoyment in it, but the thing already sounds like it's struggling and it hasn't been here two days. As I write this review it's already kinda broken itself (the spinny-arm twisted itself off).
Not so great
I was really looking forward to bringing this out for our cat, but have been disappointed. The feather barely peeks out from the cover. When the wand gets stuck in one spot it makes a loud, annoying clicking noise (kind of like going up on a rollercoaster). Worst of all, the arm keeps coming off the piece that is attached to the base, which kind of defeats the purpose.
